Worship: the source of renewal
The Christian life, seen as a pilgrimage, teaches impermanence, continuity, hope. We are not to settle too comfortably in this world, for its monuments and we ourselves have no permanence. In continuity with the past, out of which we come and which we carry with us, we advance. Thus in hope we are impelled toward the future, for our tradition is one of growth and discovery. These three lessons are related to the description of God (Romans 11:36, NEB) as Source, Guide, Goal; for it is finally our encounter with God in worship which is the constant source of our continual renewal
The Moon and the Mystery: Expanding Our Horizons
(Excerpt)
Easter arrived early this year. Only rarely does the festival come on its earliest possible date, March 22. (It last did so in 1818 and will not do so again until 2285.) But not uncommonly Easter comes toward the end of March; it was March 26 this year as it was in 1978 and 1967. It fell on March 25 in 1951
Worship: the source and summit of faith
In worship God comes to serve his people with his gifts. Worship, as God\u27s service of us, is the source of faith. Worship is also the summit of faith as God lifts his people to himself, to the service of others, to a reconciliation with the natural world. Worship is thus our service of God in response to his initiative. Zion, the mountain of God, is the biblical symbol of the place from which God comes and to which we with all the nations are called to share the messianic banquet. The Easter Vigil is a liturgical dramatization of the interchange between God and us, the passage from death to life, a renewal of the past and a promise of what is to come
Session 7 - “A New era”: The Limits of engineering expertise in a post-9/11 world
In early 2002, just months after the collapse of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, Henry Petroski declared that the destruction of the towers “signaled the beginning of a new era in the planning, design, construction, and use of skyscrapers.” Building professionals and their work have surely been affected by the events of that day. Ironically, one lesson reinforced by the fall of the towers is that engineers cannot control the entirety of any engineering project. This reality raises questions about professional responsibility as it relates to risk, vulnerability, and uncertainty. This paper discusses the implications of this new era for engineering practice and education

Interaction parameters in plasticizer-plasticizer-mixtures
Most propellants used today comprise one or more plasticizers to adjust the properties of the binder for the respective use case. However little is known about the interaction between these plasticizers. In a first step to get more insight into this field this work aims to investigate the interaction of different typical plasticizers with each other. Mixtures of plasticizers with different ratios were prepared and analyzed by Differential Scanning Calorimetry with respect to the glass transition temperature. The results reveal that the glass transition temperature of the mixtures depends mainly on three aspects: the chemical compatibility, the difference in glass transition temperatures of the pure plasticizers and the strength of the interaction between the plasticizers
New Proclamation: Year B, 2002-2003, Advent through Holy Week
The New Proclamation series helps preachers write better sermons from Advent through Pentecost. It offers creative links to literature, spirituality, and the sociocultural scene in addition to historical and exegetical reflections on all the biblical texts. Its format assists those using the Revised Common Lectionary, the Roman Catholic lectionary, and the Episcopal lectionary (BCP).https://digitalcommons.csbsju.edu/theology_books/1016/thumbnail.jp
