Inter-Regional Migration in Australia: an Applied Economic Analysis.
In analysing the effects of economic policy in a Federal system, such as Australia, it is important to understand the interactions between the States and Territories. In particular, given that there is free movement between labour markets, to analyse economic policy it is important to understand the factors influencing inter- regional migration. In this paper we use data from 1982 to 1996 to estimate a structural econometric model of inter-regional migration. The results are then used to re-specify and calibrate the Computable General Equilibrium model MONASH-MRF. This then provides a more detailed picture of labour market responses when we subsequently simulate the response of net interstate migration to changes in State Government spending.CGE models, Migration, MONASH-MRF.

right-angled Coxeter groups. More generally, we prove it for groups which are

Carbon-13 n.m.r. investigation on the nitrogen methylation of the mono- and diazanaphthalenes
The 13C n.m.r. spectra of the N-methylated mono- and diazanaphthalenes have been recorded and analysed. It has been shown that N-methylation as well as N-protonation in cinnoline occur predominantly at the -nitrogen atom. N-methylation and N-protonation show a similar effect on the 13C chemical shift
Excited states of spherium
We report analytic solutions of a recently discovered quasi-exactly solvable
model consisting of two electrons, interacting {\em via} a Coulomb potential,
but restricted to remain on the surface of a -dimensional sphere.
Polynomial solutions are found for the ground state, and for some higher
() states. Kato cusp conditions and interdimensional degeneracies are

Using a multi-level tailored design process to develop a customer satisfaction survey for university evaluation
A multi-level procedure is described in order to develop a total quality management survey tool in the field of engineering academia. As a first step a review of
available evaluation tools for universities is conducted, resulting in over 150 items used for evaluation purposes. Secondly all dimensions of educational evaluation used in previous research are summarized, resulting in 15 dimensions. In a third step, items are assigned to the dimensions, overlapping items were combined or removed, and item content and dimensions were adjusted to the specific conditions of the target faculty. Fourthly, the resulting twelve dimensions were used in first, investigative interviews in the target population. Results indicate that eleven dimensions sufficiently mapped all aspects of evaluation. After revising the items to improve understanding in a fifth step cognitive pretests were conducted. The final revision resulted in 83 items assigned to eleven dimensions
A vintage model of technology diffusion: The effects of returns to disversity and learning by using
The diffusion of new technologies is a lengthy process and many firms continue to invest in relatively old technologies. This paper develops a vintage model of technology adoption and diffusion that aims at explaining these two phenomena. Our explanation for these phenomena emphasises the relevance of complementarity between different vintages (or, alternatively, returns to diversity) and learning-by- using. The model is characterised by simultaneous investments in vintages of different quality and endogenously determined scrapping of old technologies. We show that the stronger the complementarity between different vintages and the stronger the learning-by-using, the longer it takes before firms scrap (seemingly) inferior technologies
Harmonically trapped jellium
We discuss the model of a -dimensional confined electron gas in which the
particles are trapped by a harmonic potential. In particular, we study the
non-interacting kinetic and exchange energies of finite-size inhomogeneous
systems, and compare the resulting Thomas-Fermi and Dirac coefficients with
various uniform electron gas paradigms. We show that, in the thermodynamic
limit, the properties of this model are identical to those of the
