Knowsley at Heart community NHS health checks: Behaviour change evaluation
The purpose of this evaluation was to explore the experience of the residents of Knowsley of the community NHS health checks. A qualitative research strategy was utilised. It was evident from the evaluation that NHS Knowsley had been successful in engaging people in the community NHS health check programme. The service users commented positively on the health checks. A minority of participants were unsure what steps to take after the community health check, however, the majority of participants made some form of lifestyle change as a result of attending the check.Knowsley PC

Sure Start Halton Children’s Centres: User satisfaction survey
Children’s Centres are required to establish, on an annual basis, the percentage of parents with children aged 0 to 5 years reporting that they are satisfied with the services for families with young children. The Centre for Public Health Research (CPHR) was commissioned to undertake this survey of parent and carer satisfaction with Halton Children’s Centres’ services in February 2008. Exploring the impact of the Burnley Food and Fitness Aimed at Lowering Obesity (BUFFALO) project - executive summary
The BUFFALO project (Burnley Food and Fitness Aimed at Lowering Obesity) is a children’s obesity prevention project targeting Year 5 (9 to 10 year old) pupils in primary schools in Burnley. It is co-ordinated and delivered by Burnley Borough Council in partnership with East Lancashire Primary Care Trust. The BUFFALO project involves curriculum input during the normal school day for one afternoon per week in each Year 5 class for the first school term, followed by a 10 week programme of after school activities. The BUFFALO project team commissioned the Centre for Public Health Research at the University of Chester to explore the impact of the BUFFALO project using data which had been routinely collected.The BUFFALO project, co-ordinated and delivered by Burnley Borough Council in partnership with East Lancashire Primary Care Trust
