    A Comparative Study on the Teaching Effects of TRIZ Courses for the Humanities

    In order to test the feasibility of the curriculum system of TRIZ used in humanities and social science majors, this study will test whether it is effective to cultivate students’ creativity and to train their ability to solve problems. This study designs the randomly experimental targets in the two control groups for pretest and post-test. This study tests creative thinking and student self-evaluation questionnaire by use of the China Taiwan scholar, Wu Jingji’s design. The result indicates that the post-test, for the two groups of students, their creative thinking indicators have improved significantly. The results showed that TRIZ had a significant effect on improving students' creativity. Finally, this study has discussed the value of TRIZ Course contained in Humanities and Social Science Teaching and addressed the needs to improve

    Age Differences in the Experience of Daily Life Events: A Study Based on the Social Goals Perspective

    This study examined age differences in daily life events related to different types of social goals based on the socioemotional selectivity theory (SST), and determined whether the positivity effect existed in the context of social goals in older adults’ daily lives. Over a course of 14 days, 49 older adults and 36 younger adults wrote about up to three life events daily and rated the valence of each event. The findings indicated that (1) although both older and younger adults recorded events related to both emotional and knowledge-acquisition goals, the odds ratio for reporting a higher number of events related to emotional goals compared to the number of events related to knowledge-acquisition goals was 2.12 times higher in older adults than that observed in younger adults. (2) Considering the number of events, there was an age-related positivity effect only for knowledge-related goals, and (3) older adults’ ratings for events related to emotional and knowledge-acquisition goals were significantly more positive compared to those observed in younger adults. These findings supported the SST, and to some extent, the positivity effect was demonstrated in the context of social goals

    Synthesis of Cubic Phase-Co Microspheres by Mechanical Solid-State Reaction-Thermal Decomposition and Research on Its Growth Kinetics

    Cubic phase cobalt (Co), which can be used as a key component for composite materials given its excellent ductility and internal structure, is not easy to obtain at room temperature. In this study, oxalic acid and cobalt nitrate are used as raw materials to synthesize the cobalt oxalate precursor, which has a stable structure with a five-membered chelate ring. Cobalt oxalate microspheres, having a high internal energy content, were prepared by using mechanical solid-state reaction in the presence of a surfactant, which can produce spherical micelles. The thermal decomposition of the precursor was carried out by maintaining it in a nitrogen atmosphere at 450°C for 3 h. At the end of the procedure, 100 nm cubic phase-Co microspheres, stable at room temperature, were obtained. Isothermal and nonisothermal kinetic mechanisms of cobalt grain growth were investigated. The cubic-Co grain growth activation energy, Q, was calculated in this study to be 71.47 kJ/mol. The required reaction temperature was low, making the production process simple and suitable for industrial applications

    On-chip electro-optic tuning of a lithium niobate microresonator with integrated in-plane microelectrodes

    We demonstrate electro-optic tuning of an on-chip lithium niobate microresonator with integrated in-plane microelectrodes. First two metallic microelectrodes on the substrate were formed via femtosecond laser process. Then a high-Q lithium niobate microresonator located between the microelectrodes was fabricated by femtosecond laser direct writing accompanied by focused ion beam milling. Due to the efficient structure designing, high electro-optical tuning coefficient of 3.41 pm/V was observed.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figure

    Command Filter Backstepping Sliding Model Control for Lower-Limb Exoskeleton

    A command filter adaptive fuzzy backstepping control strategy is proposed for lower-limb assisting exoskeleton. Firstly, the human-robot model is established by taking the human body as a passive part, and a coupling torque is introduced to describe the interaction between the exoskeleton and human leg. Then, Vicon motion capture system is employed to obtain the reference trajectory. For the purpose of obviating the “explosion of complexity” in conventional backstepping, a second-order command filter is introduced into the sliding mode control strategy. The fuzzy logic systems (FLSs) are also applied to handle with the chattering problem by estimating the uncertainties and disturbances. Furthermore, the stability of the closed-loop system is proved based on the Lyapunov theory. Finally, simulation results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the control strategy

    Observation of non-Hermitian corner states in non-reciprocal topolectrical circuits

    Exploring topological phases in non-Hermitian systems has attracted significant recent attention. One intriguing question is how topological edge states compete with the non-Hermitian skin effect. Here, we report the experimental observation of corner states in a two-dimensional non-reciprocal rhombus honeycomb electric circuit. The system is non-reciprocal and non-Hermitian because the introduced capacitance between two nodes depends on the current direction. The current-inversion negative impedance converters (INIC) is employed to realize the non-reciprocal coupling in circuit. Skin effect thus emerges due to the non-reciprocity and prevails in dragging the corner state into the bulk. The non-Bloch winding number defined in generalized Brillouin zone is adopted to characterize the topological phase transition. Interestingly, we find that the non-Bloch Z2 Berry phase can serve as an invariant to describe the non-Hermitian topology. By tuning the non-reciprocal parameter, we observe unbalanced distribution of corner states emerging on two acute angles of the rhombus lattice, with the localization length of the left corner state increasing exponentially with the degree of non-reciprocity.Comment: 8 pages, 7 figure
