Leverage Financial News to Predict Stock Price Movements Using Word Embeddings and Deep Neural Networks

Financial news contains useful information on public companies and the market. In this paper we apply the popular word embedding methods and deep neural networks to leverage financial news to predict stock price movements in the market. Experimental results have shown that our proposed methods are simple but very effective, which can significantly improve the stock prediction accuracy on a standard financial database over the baseline system using only the historical price information.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures, technical repor

Doppler Effect for Non-uniformly Moving Source, Observer, and Mirror

Doppler effect has been applied to study the accelerating universe and to daily life. We believe that to describe non-uniform moving system, physics laws should include terms of acceleration/deceleration for accuracy and completeness. In this article, we study systematically the effects of non-uniform motion of either source, or observer, or mirror on Doppler effect, called it the Extended Doppler effect. We show that, indeed, the non-uniform motion not only shifts wavelength/frequency but also changes wavelength/frequency and Extended Doppler shift continuously. There is no transformation between non-uniform moving reference frames. We derived Extended Doppler effect for non-uniform moving source, observer, and mirror based on (1) the speed of light wave is the same for all non-uniform moving frames; (2) geometric optical principles hold. We show that, for slow non-uniform motion, the shifts of wavelength/frequency depend on the relative velocity and relative acceleration/deceleration

Gravity/Fluid Correspondence and Its Application on Bulk Gravity with U(1)U(1) Gauge Field

As the long wavelength limit of the AdS/CFT correspondence, the gravity/fluid correspondence has been shown to be a useful tool for extracting properties of the fluid on the boundary dual to the gravity in the bulk. In this paper, after briefly reviewing the algorithm of gravity/fluid correspondence, we discuss the results of its application on bulk gravity with a U(1)U(1) gauge field. In the presence of a U(1)U(1) gauge field, the dual fluid possesses more interesting properties such as its charge current. Furthermore, an external field AμextA_\mu^{ext} could affect the charge current, and the U(1)U(1) Chern-Simons term also reinduces extra structures to the dual current giving anomalous transport coefficients.Comment: 14 pages, no figure, version publishe
