Analysis of the Influence of the Number of Burnishing Passes on the Geometric Structure of Aluminium Composites Surface

The paper presents the results of burnishing tests of composites based on AlSi9Mg aluminum alloy matrix, reinforced with Saffil ceramic fibers and silicon carbide particles. The tested material was produced at the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology. The tested materials were turned and then ball burnished. After each subsequent burnishing pass, the surfaces were measured by contact and the roughness parameters were calculated. It has been found that it is possible to obtain the Sa roughness of composites thanks to burnishing at the level of 0.1 µm. The paper shows that for each material there is an optimal and limit number of passes, which guarantees the lowest roughness for a fiber-reinforced composite these are 4 passes, and for a composite reinforced with SiC particles 5 passes. The research showed that the reduction of the roughness peaks of composites after burnishing is definitely greater than that of the valleys. The research presented in the article broadens the knowledge of aluminum composites burnishing

Possibilities of applying motif group parameters for description roughness of turned surfaces

    No full text
This article explores the methodology of assessing the applicability of roughness parameters from the motif group to the evaluation of one-way and periodic geometrical surface structures. The results of surface roughness measurements of aluminum samples turned with variable kinematic parameters were presented. Usability of using surface motifs in combination with selected parameters described in ISO standards for assessment of geometrical structures characteristic for longitudinal turning was shown

Article presents basic informations about machining materials in hardened state – especially it describes method so called hard milling. Paper talk about strategies and methods in hard milling, describes trochoidal milling, its advantages and disadvantages. Also presents research methodology and effects which concerned determination of tool path impact on selected technological effects after trochoidal milling of the groove

The aim of this study is to determine the usefulness of selected 2D roughness parameters for detecting changes of geometric features and the rate the quality of the surface generated in the process of honing combustion engines sleeves. The paper presents the importance of mathematical modeling of virtual surface topography with different participation of determined and random factor. The possibilities of modeling the flat-top “plateau” surface roughness characteristic for honed surface was showed. Suitability of application of the roughness parameter for description of the selected variable characteristics of roughness profiles were determined using the correlation coefficient and the additional evaluation index designated as t. Indicator t was used for comparing the percentage change of the tested value of modeled profile characteristics with changes selected for evaluation of the roughness parameters 2D

Influence of the Trochoidal Tool Path on Quality Surface of Groove Walls

    No full text
The article presents the results of machining materials in hardened state. In the paper, different trochoidal tool paths are compared with each other and with the conventional milling. The results of measurements show the relationship between tool path, roughness and waviness of grooves wall. The paper also presents pictures of grooves which were made. These results provide comparative material useful in the choice of the best milling strategy to the cutting process

Research in the History of Philosophy of Nature and the History of Science

    No full text
This is a review of research conducted by the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies and the Copernicus Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in the field of the history of philosophy of nature and the history of philosophy of science in Poland in the inter-war period. In spite of the domination of positivistic philosophy that tended to ignore philosophy of nature, this kind of philosophizing was quite popular in Poland. The review begins with a summary of works related to the history of science, and then deals, in some detail, with works on the theory of evolution and the theory of relativity, especially with their philosophical aspects. The remaining part of the review is devoted to the principal personalities of that period, namely: Władysław Heinrich, Władysław Natanson, Tadeusz Grabowski, Marian Smoluchowski, Zygmunt Zawirski and Joachim Metallmann
