During the application of phytosanitary products in coffee trees, workers may be exposed to temperatures that could compromise their health. Exposure to occupational heat can lead to progressive dehydration, cramps, exhaustion and the possibility of thermal shock. Thus, knowing the levels of occupational heat that workers are exposed becomes important. This study aimed to evaluate workers’ occupational exposure to heat during the application of phytosanitary products with manual costal pump in the coffee crops. The case study was developed at the IFSULDEMINAS school farm - Campus Inconfidentes in the months of September and October 2017. The occupational heat in the coffee crop was evaluated using the WBGTAVERAGE method, using TGD 400 thermal stress meter. The WBGT values found were compared to the exposure limits of NR 15 for the purposes of insalubrity classification and with NHO 06 for acclimatized and non-acclimatized workers. The results showed that the WBGT found is below the tolerance limit of NR 15, for the month of September. In October, the tolerance limit was exceeded in the period from 11:00 a.m. to 2:59 p.m., considering a continuous heavy activity and rest in the workplace, and the activity considered unhealthy. Considering the criteria of the NHO 06 it was observed that the limits of occupational exposure were exceeded in the month of October, for acclimatized and non-acclimatized workers. In September the occupational exposure limit of NHO 06 was exceeded only for non-acclimated workers. Therefore, the workers should be submitted to acclimatization during the phytosanitary application activity in the month of October

The objective of this study was to evaluate the occupational exposure to noise emitted by the squaring and sweeping equipment and coffee collector coupled to the tractor and to compare the applicable standards NR 15 and NHO 01. The data was obtained in a coffee plantation. The assay was divided into two stages: the first was carried out in the municipality of Varginha / MG and the second in Fama / MG. In the first stage, data were collected on the squaring / blowing equipment coupled to a 575.4 Compact Agrale Tractor, with 75 hp. In the second stage, the data were obtained in the coffee collector equipment coupled to the Massey Ferguson 275 XE Advanced tractor, with 75 hp. The noises emitted by the squaring / blowing equipment were within the specified limits (85 dB) for the complete 8-hour day. However, noise emissions by the collector were above 85 dB. There was no difference between the standards studied in noise assessment. The collector emitted greater noise in relation to the squaring / blowing equipment

Exposição ocupacional a vibrações de mãos e braços em atividade de colheita semimecanizada do cafeeiro/ Occupational exposure to hand and arm vibration in semi-mechanized coffee harvest activity

Effect of food additives on the antioxidant properties and microbiological quality of red guava juice

ABSTRACT Guava is a tropical fruit that has a high potential for agroindustrial use, also known antioxidant property mainly attributed to vitamin C and carotenoids content. The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of food preservatives, individually or combined, on the antioxidant properties of red guava nectar during storage. Nectars added of different additives were stored in the dark for 180 days and evaluated at the processing day and every 90 days for physico-chemical parameters, color, bioactive compounds content, total antioxidant activity (TAA), the microbiologica and sensory quality. Was not observed changes in quality parameters (P>0.05), since the guava nectars were presented in accordance with Standards of Identity and Quality required by Brazilian law. According to data for antioxidante compounds and total antioxidant activity (TAA), can conclude that nectars added sodium metabisulfite and sodium metabisulfite + sodium benzoate showed, after 90 days of storage, a lower reduction in total extractable polyphenols (TEP) and vitamin C content, being the TEP reduction directly correlated with TAA
