Recent Developments on Colloidal Deposits Obtained by Evaporation of Sessile Droplets on a Solid Surface

Understanding flow patterns and coupled transport phenomena during evaporation of droplets loaded with colloidal particles is central to design technical applications such as organizing proteins/DNA on a solid surface. We review recent reports on evaporating sessile droplets of colloidal suspensions on a solid surface. Starting from the classical mechanism of formation of a ring-like deposit, we discuss the influence of several problem parameters. Notably, thermal or solutal Marangoni effect, particle size, particle concentration, particle shape, substrate wettability, pH of the suspension etc have been found important in controlling the deposition pattern. The deposit pattern complexity and shape have been attributed to the underlying coupled transport phenomena during the evaporation. We discuss important regimes maps reported for different types of deposit, which allow us to classify the deposits and coupled physics. We also present studies that have demonstrated particles sorting in an evaporating bi-dispersed colloidal suspensions on a solid surface. Finally, some remarks for the future research opportunities in this arena are presented

DEMO: Simulation of Realistic Mobility Model and Implementation of 802.11p (DSRC) for Vehicular Networks (VANET)

An ad hoc network of vehicles (VANET) consists of vehicles that exchange information via radio in order to improve road safety, traffic management and do better distribution of traffic load in time and space. Along with this it allows Internet access for passengers and users of vehicles. A significant characteristic while studying VANETs is the requirement of having a mobility model that gives aspects of real vehicular traffic. These scenarios play an important role in performance of VANETs. In our paper we have demonstration and description of generating realistic mobility model using various tools such as eWorld, OpenStreetMap, SUMO and TraNS. Generated mobility scenario is added to NS-2.34 (Network Simulator) for analysis of DSR and AODV routing protocol under 802.11p (DSRC/WAVE) and 802.11a. Results after analysis shows 802.11p is more suitable than 802.11a for VANET.Comment: 4 pages, 6 figures, International Journal of Computer Applicatio

Particle Size Dependent Gas Sensing Performance of Zno Nanorods based Thick Film Resistors

Pure bulk ZnO was observed to be less sensitive to hazardous, toxic and inflammable gases. As the particle size of the materials get reduced from bulk to nanoscale, the gas sensing performance of pure ZnO was observed to increase crucially. It was also observed that, further decrease in the particle size would leads to decrease in the gas response. The optimized average diameter of ZnO Nanorod / particle size is 12 nm, which exhibits crucial gas response. The disc type ultrasonicated microwave assisted centrifuge technique was used for the synthesis of materials. The dry powders of synthesized materials were transformed into thick films by screen printing technique. Various characterizations techniques were employed to study the surface topography, crystal structure, phase, particle size, etc. effect of the surface nanostructure, different gases, gas concentrations, particle size, long duration for ageing, etc. on the gas response of the samples were studied and discussed. Anatomies of the nodes belonging to 20 species 11 genera of the family Rubiaceae are investigated. Of these, 16 species exhibited trilacunar, three-traced supply to the leaves. In case of Canthium coromandelicum, Gardenia latifolia, G. longistyla, the nodes show five-lacunar, five-traced supply. In Luculia gratissiuma, they are unilacunar, one-traced. Variation in emergence of median and lateral traces however, is observed. It is the median trace that departs first in 15 species; whereas in the rest others lateral traces emerge earlier, except Luculia gratissima wherein the node being unilacunar, one-traced only. The stipule usually receives vascular supply from the lateral traces. However in Luculia gratissima, it is the solitary trace that bears vascular supply to them. The present authors are inclined to regard the unilacunar, one-traced supply basic for the family Rubiaceae, whereas others are thought later attainments.    &nbsp

A greater proportion of people are affected by skin cancer, particularly melanoma, which has a higher tendency to metastasize. For Dermatologist, Visual inspections are most challenging & complex task for melanoma detection. To solve this problem, dermoscopic images are analyzed and segmented. Due to the sensitivity involved in surgical operations, existing techniques are unable to achieve higher accuracy. As a result, computer-aided systems are essential to detect & segment dermoscopic images.     In this paper, for segmentation 5000 skin images were taken from the HAM10000 dataset. Prior to segmentation, preprocessing is done by resizing images. A novel U Net structure is a fully convolutional network is presented & implemented using up-sampling and down-sampling technique with Rectified Linear Units (ReLU) for activation functions. The outcomes of proposed methodology shows performance improvement for skin-lesion segmentation with 94.7 % pixel accuracy & 89.2 % dice coefficient compared with existing KNN & SVM techniques

Petiolar anatomy of some hitherto unstudied Acanthaceae

Anatomy of petioles of 20 species belonging to 12 genera of the family Acanthaceae is investigated. The observations pertain to outline of petiole in T. S., the cell wall contours of epidermis, hypodermis, conjunctive tissue, besides the vascular tissue and cell inclusions, if any. The vascular tissue is generally resolved in an central arc and few vascular bundles. The various anatomical features differ taxon to taxon and hence found useful for their identification.&nbsp
