A Visual Analytic Environment to Co-locate Peoples' Tweets with City Factual Data
Social Media platforms (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, etc.) are used heavily by
public to provide news, opinions, and reactions towards events or topics.
Integrating such data with the event or topic factual data could provide a more
comprehensive understanding of the underlying event or topic. Targeting this,
we present our visual analytics tool, called VC-FaT, that integrates peoples'
tweet data regarding crimes in San Francisco city with the city factual crime
data. VC-FaT provides a number of interactive visualizations using both data
sources for better understanding and exploration of crime activities happened
in the city during a period of five years.Comment: 2 page

Particle Size Dependent Gas Sensing Performance of Zno Nanorods based Thick Film Resistors
Pure bulk ZnO was observed to be less sensitive to hazardous, toxic and inflammable gases. As the particle size of the materials get reduced from bulk to nanoscale, the gas sensing performance of pure ZnO was observed to increase crucially. It was also observed that, further decrease in the particle size would leads to decrease in the gas response. The optimized average diameter of ZnO Nanorod / particle size is 12 nm, which exhibits crucial gas response. The disc type ultrasonicated microwave assisted centrifuge technique was used for the synthesis of materials. The dry powders of synthesized materials were transformed into thick films by screen printing technique. Various characterizations techniques were employed to study the surface topography, crystal structure, phase, particle size, etc. effect of the surface nanostructure, different gases, gas concentrations, particle size, long duration for ageing, etc. on the gas response of the samples were studied and discussed.

Detecting and Tracking the Spread of Astroturf Memes in Microblog Streams
Online social media are complementing and in some cases replacing
person-to-person social interaction and redefining the diffusion of
information. In particular, microblogs have become crucial grounds on which
public relations, marketing, and political battles are fought. We introduce an
extensible framework that will enable the real-time analysis of meme diffusion
in social media by mining, visualizing, mapping, classifying, and modeling
massive streams of public microblogging events. We describe a Web service that
leverages this framework to track political memes in Twitter and help detect
astroturfing, smear campaigns, and other misinformation in the context of U.S.
political elections. We present some cases of abusive behaviors uncovered by
our service. Finally, we discuss promising preliminary results on the detection
of suspicious memes via supervised learning based on features extracted from
the topology of the diffusion networks, sentiment analysis, and crowdsourced

Emotion Based Music Player
Listening to music affects the human brain activities. Emotion based music player with automated playlist can help users to maintain a particular emotional state. This research proposes an emotion based music player that creates a playlists based on captured photos of the user. Manual sorting of a playlist and annotation of songs, in accordance with the current emotion, is more time consuming and quite tedious. Numerous algorithms have been implemented to automate this process. However, existing algorithms are slow, increase cost of the system by using additional hardware and have quite very less accuracy. This paper presents an algorithm that not only automates the process of generating an audio playlist, but also to classify those songs which are newly added and the main task is to capture current mood of person and to play song accordingly. This enhances the system’s efficiency, faster and automatic. The main goal is to reduce the overall computational time and the cost of the designed system. It also aims at increasing the accuracy of the system. The most important goal is to make change the mood of person if it is a negative one such as sad, depressed. This model is validated by testing the system against user dependent and user independent dataset

Glucosamine HCl-based solid dispersions to enhance the biopharmaceutical properties of acyclovir
The objective of the work presented here was to assess the feasibility of using glucosamine HCl as a solid-dispersion (SD) carrier to enhance the biopharmaceutical properties of a BCS class III/IV drug, acyclovir (ACV). The solid-dispersions of acyclovir and glucosamine HCl were prepared by an ethanol-based solvent evaporation method. The prepared formulations characterized by photomicroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Fourier transforms infrared spectrophotometry (FTIR), powder x-ray diffractometry (PXRD) and drug content analysis. The functional characterization of ACV-SD was performed by aqueous solubility evaluation, dissolution studies, fasted versus fed state dissolution comparison, ex vivo permeability, and stability studies. Photomicroscopy and SEM analysis showed different surface morphologies for pure ACV, glucosamine HCl and ACV-SD. The physical-chemical characterization studies supported the formation of ACV-SD. A 12-fold enhancement in the aqueous solubility of ACV was observed in the prepared solid dispersions, compared to pure ACV. Results from in vitro dissolution demonstrated a significant increase in the rate and extent of ACV dissolution from the prepared ACV-SD formulations, compared to pure ACV. The rate and extent of ACV permeability across everted rat intestinal membrane were also found to be significantly increased in the ACV-SD formulations. Under fed conditions, the rate and extent of the in vitro dissolution of ACV from the formulation was appreciably greater compared to fasted conditions. Overall, the results from the study suggest the feasibility of utilizing glucosamine HCl as a solid dispersion carrier/excipient for enhancement of biopharmaceutical properties of acyclovir, and similar drugs with low solubility/permeability characteristics

FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF MATRIX TABLET OF VENLAFAXINE HCL BY USING DIRECTLY COMPRESSIBLE CO-PROCESSED EXCIPIENT
Objective: The sustained release of drug from the dosage form is useful especially for achieving controlled plasma level of the drug as well as improving bioavailability. The objective of the present work was to release matrix tablet of Venlafaxine HCl by using directly compressible co-processed Excipient.
Methods: Co-processed excipient (Chitosan 88%: eudragit s-100) was prepared in the ratio of 1:1, 1:3, and 1:5 by the solvent evaporation method. The sustained release matrix tablets were prepared by using Co-processed excipient by direct compression and formulate formulations such as F1to F9. The tablets evaluated for various physical parameters. Direct compression method followed by optimization of the evaluation parameters was employed to get the final optimized formulation.
Results: The developed Co-processed excipient was characterized for DSC, FTIR, SEM and XRD which confirm the absence of any chemical changes during co-processing. Co-processed excipient prepared in the ratio of 1:5 showed excellent flow properties. Among all formulations, Optimized formulation F9 showed the desired release profile 98.7% for a period of 24 h in phosphate buffer (pH 7.4). The release co-efficient values ‘n' (>0.5) indicated that the drug release followed non fickian anomalous mechanism based on formulation factors. Developed formulations were kept for stability study for three month as per ICH guidelines and found to be stable
Conclusion: Developed co-processed excipient showed good drug release retarding property and could be alternate way to overcome the problems associated with single polymer alone. Venlafaxine HCl matrices could be developed with desirable release modulation for a once daily administration
