    Speaker Recognition using Supra-segmental Level Excitation Information

    Speaker specific information present in the excitation signal is mostly viewed from sub-segmental, segmental and supra-segmental levels. In this work, the supra-segmental level information is explored for recognizing speakers. Earlier study has shown that, combined use of pitch and epoch strength vectors provides useful supra-segmental information. However, the speaker recognition accuracy achieved by supra-segmental level feature is relatively poor than other levels source information. May be the modulation information present at the supra-segmental level of the excitation signal is not manifested properly in pith and epoch strength vectors. We propose a method to model the supra-segmental level modulation information from residual mel frequency cepstral coefficient (R-MFCC) trajectories. The evidences from R-MFCC trajectories combined with pitch and epoch strength vectors are proposed to represent supra-segmental information. Experimental results show that compared to pitch and epoch strength vectors, the proposed approach provides relatively improved performance. Further, the proposed supra-segmental level information is relatively more complimentary to other levels information

    Enhanced TACIT Encryption and Decryption Algorithm for Secured Data Routing in 3-D Network-on-Chip based Interconnection of SoC for IoT Application

    This paper presents an enhanced TACIT (E-TACIT) encryption and decryption routing technique. It protects from illegal extraction of secret data in three-dimensional (3−D) routers of Network-on-Chip (NoC) by generating HASH function-based key. The E-TACIT technique solves keys and blocks size limitation of existing anticipated methods, as it has been designed for ‘n’ bit key and ‘n’ block size. Therefore, it secures data while routing process in 3−D NoC based interconnected System-on-chips (SoCs) for Internet-of-Thing (IoT) application. The NoC based interconnection provides high scalability and requires low energy consumption for data processing than conventional bus-based SoCs. The E-TACIT has been examined for Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG-4). The technique synthesized using Vivado 2016.2 and implemented on ZYNQ XC7Z020-CLG484 FPGA for 1024 bits and verified using a network simulator. Here, we have also incorporated pipelining, re-trimming, and clock gating techniques in the design and used Dual-Port RAM during verification, which helps in achieving low latency and high throughput and occupy less silicon in comparison to Data Encryption Standard (DES) and Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) techniques

    Incidence of acute undifferentiated febrile illnesses in an urban slum of Delhi: A longitudinal cohort study

    Objective: Acute undifferentiated febrile illness (AUFI) is a neglected topic in health care. It has considerable morbidity and mortality worldwide. Slum dwellers are at high risk due to poor living conditions. This longitudinal cohort study estimated the incidence of AUFI in urban slum dwellers in Delhi. Methods: This study was conducted on urban slum dwellers in Delhi. Data were collected using a structured interviewer-administered questionnaire over a period of 18 months. Adjusted incidence rates (IR) and incidence rate ratios (IRR) were calculated using Poisson regression models. Kaplan-Meier survival curves were used to estimate survival from fever. Results: A total of 1497 population were studied. Incidence rate of AUFI was 47.43 per 1000 person-months (95% CI: 44.88; 50.08). The incidence was highest among the 50–59 year age group (54.18 per 1000 person months; 95% CI: 43.19; 67.17). Significant seasonal variation was observed with IR high in winter (IR: 32.80 per 1000 person month; adjusted IRR: 1.44 (95% CI: 1.26; 1.66) and monsoon (IR:19.89 per 1000 person month; adjusted IRR: 0.44 (95% CI: 0.36; 0.53). Conclusion: This study has shown a high incidence rate of AUFI amongst the slum dwellers in Delhi. This calls for awareness about clinical investigation and management among patients and healthcare providers. The findings from this study may sensitize policymakers and healthcare stakeholders to draw a road map with insightful consideration of the environmental factors that bring health burdens to the slum population. Further, comparative studies between slum and non-slum dwellers may be undertaken to evaluate the incidence of AUFI
