The H1 Forward Track Detector at HERA II
In order to maintain efficient tracking in the forward region of H1 after the
luminosity upgrade of the HERA machine, the H1 Forward Track Detector was also
upgraded. While much of the original software and techniques used for the HERA
I phase could be reused, the software for pattern recognition was completely
rewritten. This, along with several other improvements in hit finding and
high-level track reconstruction, are described in detail together with a
summary of the performance of the detector.Comment: Minor revision requested by journal (JINST) edito

Postbuckling Behaviour of Anisotropic Laminated Composite Plates due to Shear Loading
This study investigates postbuckling behaviour of laminated composite plates using a nine-noded shear flexible quadrilateral plate element. The formulation includes nonlinear strain-displacement relation based on von Karman's assumption. The nonlinear governing equations are solved through iteration. A detailed parametric study is carried out to bring out the influence of ply-angle, aspect ratio and material properties on the postbuckling strength of laminates due to in-plane shear loads
FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF SUSTAINED-RELEASE PELLETS OF LORNOXICAM
Objective: The aim of the study was to develop sustained release pellets of lornoxicam using Eudragit RLPO and Eudragit RSPO to reduce the dosing frequency.
Methods: The sustained release pellets of lornoxicam were prepared by extrusion–spheronization technique using Eudragit RLPO and Eudragit RSPO as release retardant polymers and microcrystalline cellulose as spheronizing agent. A 32 Full factorial design was applied to investigate the combined effect of the two independent variables i.e. concentration of Eudragit RLPO (X1) and concentration of Eudragit RSPO (X2) on the dependent variables, In vitro drug release at 1h (Y1), In vitro drug release at 4 h (Y2) and In vitro drug release at 12 h. (Y3).
Results: The optimized formulation (F0) show in vitro drug release 11.24±1.21 %, 43.69±1.28 %, 82.69±1.74 % and 100.24±1.56 % at 1 h, 4 h, 12 h and 24 h respectively. Drug excipients compatibility study by FTIR showed no interaction between drug and excipients. Eudragit RLPO and Eudragit RSPO had a significant effect on in vitro drug release.
Conclusion: From all parameters and experimental design evaluation, it was concluded that the drug release rate decreased with an increase the concentration of Eudragit RLPO and Eudragit RSPO. SEM Photomicrograph of pellets revealed that the surface was rough and the pellets were spherical shaped in nature. The in vitro release kinetics revealed higuchi model is followed and drug release is by anamolous diffusion
Heavy Flavour Baryons in Hyper Central Model
Heavy flavor baryons containing single and double charm (beauty) quarks with
light flavor combinations are studied using the hyper central description of
the three-body problem. The confinement potential is assumed as hyper central
coulomb plus power potential with power index . The ground state
masses of the heavy flavor, and baryons are computed
for different power index, starting from 0.5 to 2.0. The predicted
masses are found to attain a saturated value in each case of quark combinations
beyond the power index .Comment: 10 pages, 4 figure
Performance of a hydromagnetic squeeze film on a rough circular step bearing: a comparision of different porous structures
This investigation deals with a comparative analysis of the impact of spongy structure based on the model of Kozeny-Carman and Irmay on a hydromagnetic squeeze film in a rough circular step bearing. Christensen and Tonder’s stochastic averaging process has been utilized to determine the role of an arbitrary transverse surface irregularity. The distribution of the pressure in the bearing is obtained by solving the concerned generalised stochastically averaged equation of Reynolds’ with appropriate boundary conditions. The outcomes show that increasing values of magnetization results in an augmented load. The impact of the surface irregularity (transverse) has been found to be adverse. In addition, the negative effect of the surface irregularity and porosity can be minimised by the positive impact of magnetization, at least in the case of the globular sphere model of Kozeny-Carman. Furthermore, the lower strength of the magnetic field results in an approximately similar performance for both these models. This study offers the possibility that the Kozeny-Carman model could be deployed in comparison with Irmay’s model
