On the consistency of the Horava Theory

With the goal of giving evidence for the theoretical consistency of the Horava Theory, we perform a Hamiltonian analysis on a classical model suitable for analyzing its effective dynamics at large distances. The model is the lowest-order truncation of the Horava Theory with the detailed-balance condition. We consider the pure gravitational theory without matter sources. The model has the same potential term of general relativity, but the kinetic term is modified by the inclusion of an arbitrary coupling constant lambda. Since this constant breaks the general covariance under space-time diffeomorphisms, it is believed that arbitrary values of lambda deviate the model from general relativity. We show that this model is not a deviation at all, instead it is completely equivalent to general relativity in a particular partial gauge fixing for it. In doing this, we clarify the role of a second-class constraint of the model.Comment: The wording has been revised in general, specially in abstract, introduction and conclusions. Reparametrization Invariance and the Schr\"odinger Equation

In the present work we consider a time-dependent Schr\"odinger equation for systems invariant under the reparametrization of time. We develop the two-stage procedure of construction such systems from a given initial ones, which is not invariant under the time reparametrization. One of the first-class constraints of the systems in such description becomes the time-dependent Schr\"odinger equation. The procedure is applicable in the supersymmetric theories as well. The n=2n=2 supersymmetric quantum mechanics is coupled to world-line supergravity, and the local supersymmetric action is constructed leading to the square root representation of the time-dependent Schr\"odinger equation.Comment: RevTeX,25 page

The canonical quantization of the kink - model beyond the static solution

    Get PDF
A new approach to the quantization of the relativistic kink - model around the solitonic solution is developed on the ground of the collective coordinates method. The corresponding effective action is proved to be the action of the nonminimal d=1+1d=1+1 point - particle with curvature. It is shown that upon canonical quantization this action yields the spectrum of kink - solution obtained firstly with the help of the WKB - quantization

    The degenerate gravitino scenario

    Get PDF
In this work, we explore the "degenerate gravitino" scenario where the mass difference between the gravitino and the lightest MSSM particle is much smaller than the gravitino mass itself. In this case, the energy released in the decay of the next to lightest sypersymmetric particle (NLSP) is reduced. Consequently the cosmological and astrophysical constraints on the gravitino abundance, and hence on the reheating temperature, become softer than in the usual case. On the other hand, such small mass splittings generically imply a much longer lifetime for the NLSP. We find that, in the constrained MSSM (CMSSM), for neutralino LSP or NLSP, reheating temperatures compatible with thermal leptogenesis are reached for small splittings of order 10^{-2} GeV. While for stau NLSP, temperatures of 4x10^9 GeV can be obtained even for splittings of order of tens of GeVs. This "degenerate gravitino" scenario offers a possible way out to the gravitino problem for thermal leptogenesis in supersymmetric theories.Comment: 27 pages, 10 figures and 1 table. Massive Fields of Arbitrary Integer Spin in Symmetrical Einstein Space

    Get PDF
We study the propagation of gauge fields with arbitrary integer spins in the symmetrical Einstein space of any dimensionality. We reduce the problem of obtaining a gauge-invariant Lagrangian of integer spin fields in such background to an purely algebraic problem of finding a set of operators with certain features using the representation of high-spin fields in the form of some vectors of pseudo-Hilbert space. We consider such construction in the linear order in the Riemann tensor and scalar curvature and also present an explicit form of interaction Lagrangians and gauge transformations for massive particles with spins 1 and 2 in terms of symmetrical tensor fields.Comment: 15 pages, latex, no figures, minor change
