    A Bandwidth Efficient Pareto Minimal Approach for Gesture based Video Streaming

    Deaf, Hard-Of-Hearing and Speech-Impaired (D-HOH-SI) individuals have a specific interest in the development of affordable high-quality videoconferencing as a means of communicating with their family members and peers using sign language. Unlike Video Relay Service, which is intended to support communication between a caller using sign language and another party using spoken language, videoconferencing can directly be used either between two deaf signers or between a caller using sign language and the other using spoken language without the need of an interpreter. This paper proposes a Bandwidth Aware Gesture Based Layered (BAGBL) framework for sign language recognition based video conferencing application. Assuming a D-HOH-SI individual at the sender side, the proposed framework uses shape energy trajectory of hand sign gesture for video layering, aMulti-dimensionalMultiplechoice Knapsack Problem (MMKP) based gradational hull pareto minimization heuristic called MMKP based Pareto Minimization Heuristic for Substream Scaling (MPMHSS) and a heuristic for substream scheduling which is based on Dynamic Multilevel Priority (DMP) called Modified DMP packet scheduling (MDMP) mechanism. At the receiving side, our framework includes an automatic sign language recognizer to recognize the sign language gesture and a speech synthesizer to convert the recognized words to speech. Our framework intelligently forms and selects video layers from a video sequence to maximize the video quality. Using extensive simulation and mathematical analysis we show that the proposed solution: (i) is efficient in terms of recognition rate (ii) achieves high radio resource utilization, (iii) maximizes the received video quality

    Myiasis, a term first introduced by Hope (1840), refers to the invasion of tissues and organs of animals and human wounds and certain body cavities by the dipteran larvae which manifests as subcutaneous furunculoid or boillike lesions. Oral myiasis is a rare pathology and a risk to the patient′s life. Higher incidence is seen in rural areas affecting the tropical and sub-tropical zones of Africa and America. Myiasis affecting the oro-dental complex is rare. Here is a case report of oral myiasis in an 18-year-old male patient who is mentally challenged with anterior open bite, incompetent lips, and periodontal disease. The lesion was treated with turpentine oil, which forced larvae out and irrigated with normal saline solution. Follow-up examination revealed complete remission and healing of the lesion

    Osteoid osteoma is a benign tumor of the bone which has seldom been described in the jaws. It was first described as a distinct clinical entity by Jaffe in 1935. Lichtenstein defined osteoid osteoma as a "small, oval or roundish tumor like nidus which is composed of osteoid and trabeculae of newly formed bone deposited within a substratum of highly vascularized osteogenic connective tissue". The most interesting clinical feature of osteoid osteoma is the exquisite pain produced by a very small lesion, never greater than one centimeter in diameter. It accounts for 3% of all primary bone tumors, and about 10% of benign bone tumors. About 80% of cases of osteoid osteoma occur in long bones, while less than 1 % occur in jaws.     Evaluation on the Use of β-Lactamase and Aminoglycoside Modifying Enzyme Gene Sequences as Markers for the Early Detection of Antibiotic Resistance Profile of Pseudomonas aeruginosa

    Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the major causes of infections including the hospital acquired (Nosocomial) infections. Detection of them and their antibiotic resistance profile by conventional method takes about three days. Recently, DNA based diagnostic methods are being used for the identification of the pathogens. Hence we have tested a rapid and sensitive method using DNA sequences as markers for detecting the presence of three genes coding for the enzymes that inactivate the two most commonly used Anti-pseudomonadal drugs such as β-lactam antibiotics (Penicillin, and its derivatives) and Aminoglycosides such as Gentamicin, Tobramycin, Amikacin, Streptomycin. The internal region of these genes were used for designing and synthesizing primers and these primers were used in Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) to screen for the presence of these genes in the clinical isolates and to label them non-radioactively with Biotin. They in turn were used to detect the presence of the antibiotic resistance genes in the clinical isolates by hybridization.
