Molecular dynamics studies on phenol– water clusters

    Get PDF
Architectures of the molecules and their behavior in the clustered system are important for various consequence functions in the realistic environment. In order to gain detailed knowledge of the phenol-water clusters, 1-nano second (ns) the molecular dynamic (MD) simulation has been performed. The various structural parameters have been obtained from the MD trajectories. MD simulation reveals the presence of well-defined hydrogen-bonded network of water molecules around the phenol molecule and their dynamics. The existence of cooperativity in the hydrogen bonding and high dynamics nature of hydrogen-bonded network are evident from the present study. The calculated mutual diffusion coefficient is in close agreement with the experimental value of the phenol-water system

Parabolic bundles on algebraic surfaces I - the Donaldson-Uhlenbeck compactification

    Get PDF
The aim of this paper is to construct the parabolic version of the Donaldson-Uhlenbeck compactification for the moduli space of parabolic stable bundles on an algebraic surface with parabolic structures along a divisor with normal crossing singularities. We prove the non-emptiness of the moduli space of parabolic stable bundles of rank 2

Design and Development of Sports Intimate Apparel - A Review

It is necessary to evaluate and analyze the brassiere design problems to alleviate theproblems in terms of fit, support, elastics and fastening. With an aim to achieve a perfectbrassiere, designers have a strong drive to develop a super quality brassiere with highperformance and proper usage of components and materials. The encapsulation brassiere wasmore effective than compression brassiere in controlling breast displacement. The mainproblems were shoulder straps digging into the shoulder and shoulder straps slipping off theshoulder. There are several design flaws associated with these sports brassiere which lead todiscomfort, pain and swelling of the breasts. Tightness around the chest may also cause beastsoreness. The straps are often very thin and cut into the shoulders of women. The mosteffective brassiere had a unique inverted-u shape bounded seam over the upper and sideboundaries of the cups with a wide cross-back design. Wicking materials are used in this typeof brassieres to give comfort and breast supporting pads having pad components to giveadequate support. The inner layer consists of silicone material which can increase theadherence capacity due to its high coefficient of friction. This review paper contains detailsabout the design and development of sports brassiere

INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF PHARMACY & LIFE SCIENCES A breakthrough in health care textiles -antiviral surgical gown

    Get PDF
Abstract The surgical gowns were originally used to protect patients from post-surgery infection caused by contaminants in the environment. In the recent health care scenario, the function of surgical gowns has become bidirectional. They serve to minimize the cross-infection between patients and health care workers. The health care workers are mainly being exposed to various blood borne pathogens when performing surgeries or post surgeries. The surgical gowns are specifically used to protect the health care workers from being exposed to infectious agent's particularly bloodborne pathogens such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B and C virus, which could be acquired by contact between the contaminated body fluids and non-intact skin or mucous membranes. Health care workers in operating rooms, isolation areas, emergency rooms and intensive care units are in absolute and essential necessity of Protective clothing. As a part of personal protection, surgical gowns are used as protective equipment, widely in healthcare facilities. Surgical gowns can be constructed by either single-use materials or reusable materials. Each of these has their own advantages and disadvantages. Woven reusable surgical gowns can be made of tightly woven all-cotton muslin, blended sheeting, polyester sheeting and composite materials

Studies on Prosopis juliflora methyl ester production and its effect on DI diesel engine

1286-1292Prosopis juliflora methyl ester (PJME) was produced from a non edible feedstock found in the arid and semi-arid regions all over the globe. The Biodiesel from this species was produced with respect to optimum transesterification process variables. An experimental investigation was done using the Methyl ester in a DI diesel engine to estimate the performance, combustion and emission characteristics at a brake power of 5.2 KW and an unvarying speed of 1500 rpm. Experimental studies on the methyl ester revealed that there was a decrease in the brake thermal efficiency by 8.34 % and increase in the emission of Carbon monoxide (CO), unburnt hydrocarbon (HC) and smoke by 10.7 %, 16 % and 11 %, respectively. PJME exhibited NOx emission of 10.71 %, lower heat release rate (HRR) of 23 %, and 7 % peak pressure when compared to neat diesel under 100 % loading condition. From the successive experiments conducted with Prosopis juliflora methyl ester, B20 Biodiesel blend was found the best suitable blend for marine engines as the results almost matches with the neat diesel. Also, biodiesel from this non edible species proved that it was an inherent source for alternative fuel, with environmental benefits

Relationship between electrophilicity index, Hammett constant and nucleus-independent chemical shift

    Get PDF
Inter-relationships between the electrophilicity index (Ω), Hammett constant (óp @#@) and nucleusindependent chemical shift (NICS (1) - NICS value one ångstrom above the ring centre) have been investigated for a series of meta- and para-substituted benzoic acids. Good linear relationships between Hammett constant vs electrophilicity and Hammett constant vs NICS (1) values have been observed. However, the variation of NICS (1) against CO shows only a low correlation coefficient

Parity Violating Gravitational Coupling Of Electromagnetic Fields

A manifestly gauge invariant formulation of the coupling of the Maxwell theory with an Einstein Cartan geometry is given, where the space time torsion originates from a massless Kalb-Ramond field augmented by suitable U(1) Chern Simons terms. We focus on the situation where the torsion violates parity, and relate it to earlier proposals for gravitational parity violation.Comment: 7 Pages, Latex . no figures, Replaced with Revtex version, many references added and typos correcte
