Multi-Slot BLE Raw Database for Accurate Positioning in Mixed Indoor/Outdoor Environments

The technologies and sensors embedded in smartphones have contributed to the spread of disruptive applications built on top of Location Based Services (LBSs). Among them, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) has been widely adopted for proximity and localization, as it is a simple but efficient positioning technology. This article presents a database of received signal strength measurements (RSSIs) on BLE signals in a real positioning system. The system was deployed on two buildings belonging to the campus of the University of Extremadura in Badajoz. the database is divided into three different deployments, changing in each of them the number of measurement points and the configuration of the BLE beacons. the beacons used in this work can broadcast up to six emission slots simultaneously. Fingerprinting positioning experiments are presented in this work using multiple slots, improving positioning accuracy when compared with the traditional single slot approach

A novel method for in-home Gait Speed estimation in Health Monitoring Using Bluetooth Low Energy

Ponencia presentada en: 22nd IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT), del 10 al 12 de marzo de 2021Gait speed (GS) is a crucial parameter in the evolution and diagnosis of degenerative illnesses. Nowadays, it is measured in clinical environments where it is impossible to keep track of all patients due to the lack of resources. The development of GS measurement systems for in-home environments could solve this problem, but current methods present, at least, one of these problems: they require expensive hardware, are intrusive for the patient, or are imprecise. A novel method to measure GS in these scenarios using Bluetooth Low Energy and smart wearable devices is proposed in this work. The proposed system is inexpensive, non-intrusive, and its precision is comparable to the current state of the art methods. This system could be commercialized as part of an in-home health monitoring system

Adaptación de los contenidos de la asignatura de Historia de segundo de Bachillerato a la realidad extremeña.
