Multi-Agent Deep Reinforcement Learning for Efficient Passenger Delivery in Urban Air Mobility
It has been considered that urban air mobility (UAM), also known as
drone-taxi or electrical vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL), will play a key
role in future transportation. By putting UAM into practical future
transportation, several benefits can be realized, i.e., (i) the total travel
time of passengers can be reduced compared to traditional transportation and
(ii) there is no environmental pollution and no special labor costs to operate
the system because electric batteries will be used in UAM system. However,
there are various dynamic and uncertain factors in the flight environment,
i.e., passenger sudden service requests, battery discharge, and collision among
UAMs. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel cooperative MADRL algorithm based
on centralized training and distributed execution (CTDE) concepts for reliable
and efficient passenger delivery in UAM networks. According to the performance
evaluation results, we confirm that the proposed algorithm outperforms other
existing algorithms in terms of the number of serviced passengers increase
(30%) and the waiting time per serviced passenger decrease (26%).Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure
Human dopamine receptor nanovesicles for gate-potential modulators in high-performance field-effect transistor biosensors
The development of molecular detection that allows rapid responses with high sensitivity and selectivity remains challenging. Herein, we demonstrate the strategy of novel bio-nanotechnology to successfully fabricate high-performance dopamine (DA) biosensor using DA Receptor-containing uniform-particle-shaped Nanovesicles-immobilized Carboxylated poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (CPEDOT) NTs (DRNCNs). DA molecules are commonly associated with serious diseases, such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases. For the first time, nanovesicles containing a human DA receptor D1 (hDRD1) were successfully constructed from HEK-293 cells, stably expressing hDRD1. The nanovesicles containing hDRD1 as gate-potential modulator on the conducting polymer (CP) nanomaterial transistors provided high-performance responses to DA molecule owing to their uniform, monodispersive morphologies and outstanding discrimination ability. Specifically, the DRNCNs were integrated into a liquid-ion gated field-effect transistor (FET) system via immobilization and attachment processes, leading to high sensitivity and excellent selectivity toward DA in liquid state. Unprecedentedly, the minimum detectable level (MDL) from the field-induced DA responses was as low as 10 pM in real- time, which is 10 times more sensitive than that of previously reported CP based-DA biosensors. Moreover, the FET-type DRNCN biosensor had a rapid response time (<1 s) and showed excellent selectivity in human serum
Self-Isolated Dual-Mode High-Pass Birdcage RF Coil for Proton and Sodium MR Imaging at 7 T MRI
This study presents the feasibility of a dual-mode high-pass birdcage RF coil to acquire MR images at both 1H and 23Na frequencies at ultra-high-field MR scanner, 7 T. A dual-mode circuit (DMC) in the dual-mode birdcage (DMBC) RF coil operates at two frequencies, addressing the limitations of sensitivity reduction and isolation between two frequencies as in traditional dual-tuned RF coil. Finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) based electromagnetic (EM) simulations were performed to verify the RF coil at each frequency on the three-dimensional human head model. The DMBC RF coil resonated at proton (1H) and sodium (23Na) frequencies, and also single-tuned high-pass birdcage RF coils were constructed for both 1H and 23Na frequencies. The bench test performance of the RF coils was evaluated using network analysis parameters, including the measurement of scattering parameters (S-parameters) and quality factors (Q-factors). Q-factor of the DMBC coil at 1H port was 10.2% lower than that of 1H single-tuned birdcage (STBC) coil, with a modest SNR reduction of 6.5%. Similarly, the Q-factor for the DMBC coil at 23Na port was 12.3% less than that of 23Na STBC coil, and the SNR showed a minimal reduction of 5.4%. Utilizing the DMBC coil, promising 1H and 23Na MR images were acquired compared to those by using STBC coils. In conclusion, deploying a DMBC 1H/23Na coil has been demonstrated to overcome traditional constraints associated with dual-tuned RF coils, achieving this with only nominal signal attenuation across both nuclei operational frequencies
Ectopic adrenal gland tissue in the left ovary of an elderly woman: a case report
Ectopic adrenal gland in the ovary is very rare case, and even more rarer in older women. We reported a case of ectopic adrenal tissue as an incidental finding in left ovary from a 68-year-old woman. She presented with bearing down sensation due to uterine prolapse for 5 years. Upon physical examination, uterine prolapse grade III, cystocele, and rectocele were observed. Ultrasonography findings showed 0.69 cm intramural myoma, and no specific findings were found in the bilateral adnexae. She underwent a total laparoscopic hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, and anterior-posterior repair. The final pathologic diagnosis of the case was ectopic adrenal gland tissue in the left ovary and uterine leiomyoma. No eventful reactions were observed during hospitalization and after discharge. Although ectopic adrenal gland rarely occurs in elderly women and in the pelvic ovaries, it has a risk of neoplastic transformation and accompanying germ cell tumor and sex cord tumor. Hence, if the ectopic adrenal gland tissue is suspected during surgery, the tissue should be removed. Additionally, by closely examining the contralateral ovary, determining whether other lesions are suspected is necessary. If the other lesions including germ cell tumor or sex cord tumor are suspected, a biopsy of the contralateral ovarian tissue should be performed. Thus, gynecologists must have knowledge about ectopic adrenal gland tissues
SUCCESSFUL FACTORS OF 540° DWIHURYEOCHAGI IN TAEKWONDO
The purpose of our study was to provide fundamental information about success factors of 540° Dwihuryeochagi in Taekwondo. Twenty Taekwondo athletes who participated in the 2012 Taekwondo Kyukpa Wang (breaking king) championship: ten successful athletes (S, age: 23.1±1.6 yrs, height: 171.0±3.5 cm, body mass: 66.4±7.1 kg) and ten failed athletes (F, age: 22.3±1.8 yrs, height: 172.1±5.4 cm, body mass: 64.4±4.2 kg) were selected. Three-dimensional motion analysis using a system of 3 video cameras with a sampling of 60 fields/s was performed during the competition of 540 ° Dwihuryeochagi. Based on the findings, it is concluded that success factors of 540° Dwihuryeochagi were horizontal velocity of COM during P1, vertical velocity of COM during P2, and the time, kick distance, velocity and angle of lower extremities of P3-P4
A Study of Parameters Related to the Etch Rate for a Dry Etch Process Using NF 3
The characteristics of the dry etching of SiNx:H thin films for display devices using SF6/O2 and NF3/O2 were investigated using a dual-frequency capacitively coupled plasma reactive ion etching (CCP-RIE) system. The investigation was carried out by varying the RF power ratio (13.56 MHz/2 MHz), pressure, and gas flow ratio. For the SiNx:H film, the etch rates obtained using NF3/O2 were higher than those obtained using SF6/O2 under various process conditions. The relationships between the etch rates and the usual monitoring parameters—the optical emission spectroscopy (OES) intensity of atomic fluorine (685.1 nm and 702.89 nm) and the voltages VH and VL—were investigated. The OES intensity data indicated a correlation between the bulk plasma density and the atomic fluorine density. The etch rate was proportional to the product of the OES intensity of atomic fluorine (I(F)) and the square root of the voltages (Vh+Vl) on the assumption that the velocity of the reactive fluorine was proportional to the square root of the voltages
Design and simulation of novel laparoscopic renal denervation system: a feasibility study
Purpose: In this study, we propose a novel laparoscopy-based renal denervation (RDN) system for treating patients with resistant hypertension. In this feasibility study, we investigated whether our proposed surgical instrument can ablate renal nerves from outside of the renal artery safely and effectively and can overcome the depth-related limitations of the previous catheter-based system with less damage to the arterial walls. Method: We designed a looped bipolar electrosurgical instrument to be used with laparoscopy-based RDN system. The tip of instrument wraps around the renal artery and delivers the radio-frequency (RF) energy. We evaluated the thermal distribution via simulation study on a numerical model designed using histological data and validated the results by the in vitro study. Finally, to show the effectiveness of this system, we compared the performance of our system with that of catheter-based RDN system through simulations. Results: Simulation results were within the 95% confidence intervals of the in vitro experimental results. The validated results demonstrated that the proposed laparoscopy-based RDN system produces an effective thermal distribution for the removal of renal sympathetic nerves without damaging the arterial wall and addresses the depth limitation of catheter-based RDN system. Conclusions: We developed a novel laparoscope-based electrosurgical RDN method for hypertension treatment. The feasibility of our system was confirmed through a simulation study as well as in vitro experiments. Our proposed method could be an effective treatment for resistant hypertension as well as central nervous system diseases.11Ysciescopu

dimentional variational data assimilation module (DA-ESROM), have been compared
with the observed hydrographic and current datasets in the Ulleung Basin (UB) of the
East/Japan Sea (EJS). Satellite-borne sea surface temperature and sea surface height
data, and in-situ temperature profiles have been assimilated into the DA-ESROM. The
performance of the DA-ESROM appears to be efficient enough to be used in an
operational ocean forecast system.
Comparing with the results from Mitchell et al. (2005a), the DA-ESROM fairly well
simulates the high variability of the Ulleung Warm Eddy and Dok Cold Eddy as well as
the branching of the Tsushima Warm Current in the UB. The overall root-mean-square
error between 100m temperature field reproduced by the DA-ESROM and the observed
100-dbar temperature field is 2.1°C, and the spatially averaged grid-to-grid correlation
between the two temperature fields is high with a mean value of 0.79 for the intercomparison
period.
The DA-ESROM reproduces the development of strong southward North Korean
Cold Current (NKCC) in summer consistent with the observational results, which is
thought to be an improvement of the previous numerical models in the EJS. The
reanalyzed products show that the NKCC is about 35 km wide, and flows southward
along the Korean coast from spring to summer with maximum monthly mean volume
transport of about 0.8 Sv in August-September.The major part of this works was conducted with financial support by Agency for Defense Development under the contract UD031003AD.
