Hyperfine Quenching of the Level in Zn-like Ions
In this paper, we used the multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock method to compute
with high precision the influence of the hyperfine interaction on the
level lifetime in Zn-like ions for stable and some
quasi-stable isotopes of nonzero nuclear spin between Z=30 and Z=92. The
influence of this interaction on the separation energy is also calculated for the same ions
New expression for the K-shell ionization
A new expression for the total K-shell ionization cross section by electron
impact based on the relativistic extension of the binary encounter Bethe (RBEB)
model, valid from ionization threshold up to relativistic energies, is
proposed. The new MRBEB expression is used to calculate the K-shell ionization
cross sections by electron impact for the selenium atom. Comparison with all,
to our knowledge, available experimental data shows good agreement
Analysis of X-ray spectra emitted from laser-produced plasmas of uranium
In this paper, we used the multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock method to generate
theoretical X-ray spectra for Co-, Ni-, Cu-, Zn-, Ga-, Ge-, As-, Se-, Br-, Kr-,
and Rb-like uranium ions. Using the distribution of these ions in a
laser-produced plasma, for different plasma temperatures, we generate
theoretical spectra, which are compared to experimental data
The ADI Compasso dâOro Award is universally regarded as the supreme accolade for originality, excellence, achievement and research in industrial design. Created in 1954 by the la Rinascente department store in Milan to encourage product aesthetics, the awardâs logo - a reference to the compass invented by Adalbert GĂśringer to measure
the golden section - was designed by Albe Steiner, while the trophy is the work of Alberto Rosselli and Marco Zanuso.
The award subsequently passed from I a Rinascente to ADI, which organises the award once every three years. Every year, the Permanent Design Observatory, a team of more than 150 design experts, selects the finest of Italian design for the annual ADI Design Index, the basis on which an International jury then confers the Compasso dâOro Awards once every three years. Since 1954, more than 30,000 items have been examined, 313 Compasso dâOro Awards and 103
Compasso dâOro Carreer Awards presented, and 1,819 Honorable Mentions and 71 Targhe Giovani attributed. In this exhibition are presented the prizes and mentions obtained by the School of Design and by the Department of
Design of the Politecnico di Milano over the last few years
Numerical models for 2D free boundary analysis of groundwater in slopes stabilized by drain trenches
AbstractA numerical model for 2D free boundary analysis of groundwater in slopes stabilized by drain trenches has been developed. It consists of a front-tracking method (based on an original way of adapting the space derivatives), very effective in saving calculation time respect to classical fix-grid methods. The method analyses the trenches effect inside slopes in which the soils above the water table are partially saturated, for which a boundary can be recognized between the saturated domain (water table) and the unsaturated one (above the water table). In this case pore pressure lowering, due to trenches, can be analyzed considering the progressively reduction of the saturated domain. This approach efficiently solves the problem of fixing hydraulic boundary conditions on the sides of the trenches. Results have been compared with those obtained by a fix-grid method, observing difference less than 0.14%. Applying the method, the capability of drain trenches to control the effect of heavy rainfalls has been investigated, calculating (during the transient process of water table lowering) limit values of water recharge for which water table keeps on constant
