Gauging CSO groups in N=4 Supergravity
We investigate a class of CSO-gaugings of N=4 supergravity coupled to six
vector multiplets. Using the CSO-gaugings we do not find a vacuum that is
stable against all scalar perturbations at the point where the matter fields
are turned off. However, at this point we do find a stable cosmological scaling
solution.Comment: 21 page
A New Approach To Relativistic Gaussian Basis Functions: Theory And Applications
We present a new hybrid method to solve the relativistic Hartree-Fock-Roothan
equations where the one- and two-electron radial integrals are evaluated
numerically by defining the basis functions on a grid. This procedure reduces
the computational costs in the evaluation of two-electron radial integrals. The
orbitals generated by this method are employed to compute the ionization
potentials, excitation energies and oscillator strengths of alkali-metal atoms
and elements of group IIIA through second order many-body perturbation theor
and other correlated theories.Comment: RevTex (15 pages) one figur
Grandparenting in Urban Bangalore, India: Support and Involvement From the Standpoint of Young Adult University Students
A variety of caregivers, including grandparents, help raise children. Among grandparents, most Western samples evidence a matrilateral (i.e., mother’s kin) bias in caregiving, and many studies show more positive impacts and stronger relationships with grandmothers than grandfathers. The aim of the present study is to test competing hypotheses about a potential laterality bias and explore contrasts between grandmothers and grandfathers in a sample of urban young adult university students in Bangalore, India. A sample of 377 (252 women) relatively mobile and high socioeconomic status individuals 17 to 25 years of age completed a survey consisting of sociodemographic and grandparenting questions. Results reveal generally little evidence of either a patrilateral or matrilateral bias, though findings varied for some outcomes. As illustrations, there were no differences in residential proximity or the most recent time when a participant saw matrilateral or patrilateral grandparents, whereas maternal grandmothers were more approving of one’s choice of a life partner than were paternal grandmothers. In inductively coded responses to an open-ended item about the roles of grandparents, maternal grandmothers were more often identified as “guides” and less often deemed “non-significant” than paternal grandmothers, while paternal grandfathers were less often viewed as guardians and more often noted for their influence compared with maternal grandparents. Findings also revealed differences between grandmothers and grandfathers, such as grandmothers playing more prominent roles in community and religious festivals. Findings are interpreted within changing residential, work, education, and family dynamics in urban India as well as a primary importance on parents relative to grandparents
Electromechanical and Dynamic Characterization of In-House-Fabricated Amplified Piezo Actuator
A diamond-shaped amplified piezo actuator (APA) fabricated using six multilayered piezo stacks with maximum displacement of 173 μm at 175V and the amplification factor of 4.3. The dynamic characterization of the actuator was carried out at different frequencies (100 Hz–1 kHz) and at different AC voltages (20V–40V). The actuator response over this frequency range was found neat, without attenuation of the signal. Numerical modeling of multilayered stack actuator was carried out using empirical equations, and the electromechanical analysis was carried out using ABAQUS software. The block force of the APA was 81 N, calculated by electromechanical analysis. This is similar to that calculated by dynamic characterization method
Facing the Global Islamic Leadership Crisis: An Islamic Process and Modes Toward a Unified Governance of the Muslim Ummah
Data and facts show that strong political influence often influences the election of leaders in several Muslim countries. This can lead to a lack of democracy and transparency in the political system and increase the risk of corruption and authoritarianism. According to a survey conducted by the Pew Research Center in 2016, most Muslim communities in several countries, such as Egypt, Pakistan and Tunisia, were dissatisfied with the quality of leadership. Facing the global crisis and democracy’s future and its problems, challenges, and resolutions is broad enough to be presented and discussed thoroughly within the timeframe. It is essential to focus on a specific topic that might encompass this theme. There is an inquiry if there is a unified governance that the Muslim Ummah must observe and may be followed by the global community. How to solve the global crisis and problems of democracy in Islamic leadership? The research method used was qualitative analysis. In view of the above presentation and discussion, it is because of this conclusion that the Islamic process and modes, if properly observed, strongly influence to have unified governance of the Muslim Ummah. After the divine mode of having a leader as it was applied to the Prophets and Messengers of Allah, such is left to the Muslim community following the above-mentioned modes. Based on the above presentation and the need to realize the unified governance of the Muslim Ummah, it is hereby recommended the need to reexamine, reinvestigate, and to study in deep the educational system and curricular offerings of state colleges and universities to include the Islamic process and modes toward a unified governance of the Muslim Ummah seriously as a core subject following the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. and the four rightly guided Caliphs.

Hot Nuclear Matter : A Variational Approach
We develop a nonperturbative technique in field theory to study properties of
infinite nuclear matter at zero temperature as well as at finite temperatures.
Here we dress the nuclear matter with off-mass shell pions. The techniques of
thermofield dynamics are used for finite temperature calculations. Equation of
state is derived from the dynamics of the interacting system in a self
consistent manner. The transition temperature for nuclear matter appears to be
around 15 MeV.Comment: 16 pages, IP/BBSR/91-3
