The study of biochemical and morphological changes occurring under the combined effect (interaction) of vira and macroorganisms is an important рrоblem in virology. Biochemical investigations have been reported in literature under various aspects. Thus Voluiskaya  investigates the sugar in the pulmonary tissue of infected with grippe virus (GV) mice and finds out 20-50 % increase of sugar as compared to control animals. Tovarnitzki studies the biochemical alterations in experimentally produced grippe infection of white mice and comes to the conclusion that the pathological process in grippe conditions is generalized and involves а number of visceral organs and the central nervous system. Knight investigates the aminoacid content of the allantoic fluid (AF) in chick embryos (СЕ), not contaminated and contaminated with grippe virus. Killborne and Horsfall established аn increased protein content in the AF of the СЕ, infected with GV. Lutikova finds out an increase of the total nitrogen аnd phosphorus in the chorioallantoic membranes of СЕ, infected with GV. Panayotov studies in СЕ substrates, injected with different vira, the following indices: Ph, aminoacid content, рrеsеnсе of RNA аnd DNA, phosphatese activity, aldolasc, pyrophosphatase etc. The effect of ultraviolet rays (UVR) оn the GV has bееn investigated bу numerous authors. Thus Wells and Brown carry out follow-up studies on the effect of UVR upon aerosol of GV.Salk and associates (cited bу Levin - 20) investigates the action of the UVR on the virulence of the GV.Vaskhov, Rosiisky аnd Smorodintzev study the influence of UVR оn the  pulmonary  suspension, containing GV. Ermeev and Chalkina study the effect of UVR on purified GV, type А. Zakastelskaia proves the infectious аnd toxic action of the allantoic fluid containing GV. Manolova studies the effect of UVR оn purified and nоn purified grippe vira В, А and А-1. Rappoport, Dyhno and assoc., Panayotov and assoc., аnd Sfoyanov follow the morphological changes in СЕ treated with microorganisms. In the pertinent literature surveyed nо informations were found concerning the effect of UVR оn the СЕ infected with GV; hеnсе the study of the biochemical indices аnd pathohistological alterations in СЕ irradiated with UVR and infected with GV is of utmost interest. The purpose of the present work is determination of the biochemical characteristics, the presence of hemagglutination activity for the GV аnd the morphological alterations in the AF of the СЕ infected with GV

Basal pseudoaneurysm of the lateral wall of the left ventricle – case report

    Get PDF
Left ventricle pseudoaneurysm is a rare but serious complication, most often secondary to myocardial infarction. It is associated with high mortality due to a significant risk of rupture. We present a case of a patient with a large basal pseudoaneurysm of the lateral wall of the left ventricle. The pseudoaneurysm is discovered from a chest radiography performed after a COVID-19 infection. The diagnosis is confirmed by echocardiography and ventriculography. The patient underwent surgical treatment by endoventricular patch plasty – Dor procedure. The patient in our case lacked the typical symptoms and ECG features, furthermore he had no history of myocardial infarction, cardiac surgery, trauma or endocarditis

EPIDEMIOLOGICAL, CLINICA.L AND VIROLOGICAL STUDIES ON INFLUENZA MORBIDITY RATES FOR ТНЕ PERIOD APRIL 1962 – МАY 1963 IN ТНЕ СIТУ OF VARNA

Тhe epidemic process of influenza acquires vaгious forms in its couгse: pandemics, epidemics аnd sporadic morbidity inbetween epidemics. Wе dispose of mоrе precise data оn its course in Bulgaria since 1952. Мorе scanty аrе the data which characteгize influenza epidemics in the city of Vагnа up to 1955 which is seen on Diagr. 1. From the latter it becomes evident that influenza morbidity rates in the city of Vагnа run parallel to morbidity rates in the whole country, being occasionally morе intensive - 1959, 1962. Тlie diаgrаm reveals high level for influenza morbldity rates fог the countгy and the city of Vаrnа in 1956 and аn epidemic peak in 1957, 1959 аnd 1962. Тhe epidemic peak in 1962 is due to аn influenza outbreak caused bу virus А2 which started at the end of January and continued till Магсh, the same уеаr.After the epidemics а period was established, characteгized bу а low level of influenza morbldity rates in the city of Varna. Stress should bе laid оn the fact that determination of actual levels of influenza morbidity rates inbetween epidemics is particularly difficult owing to the imperfect diagnosis and the diversity of clinical forms of influenza

Evaluation of the yield and the yield stability of perspective lines of barley

The study was carried out in the Experimental field of the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding – Agricultural University, Plovdiv during the period 2009-2011. New breeding lines were investigated using block design with 4 replications and 20 m2 plot size. The aim of the investigation was to estimate barley lines by yield, stability and some important traits, using Obzor as a standard. Applying biometrical and cluster analysis and index of yield stability, it has been established that some  breeding lines: numbers 21411003, 21401409 and 21001008, respectively, had better traits in comparison with the standard cultivar “Obzor” as well as stable yields regardless of differences in the climatic conditions over the years. These lines can be certified as new cultivars according to the government’s requirements for cultivar testing

Inclusive production of charged pions in p+C collisions at 158 GeV/c beam momentum

    Get PDF
The production of charged pions in minimum bias p+C interactions is studied using a sample of 377000 inelastic events obtained with the NA49 detector at the CERN SPS at 158 GeV/c beam momentum. The data cover a phase space area ranging from 0 to 1.8 GeV/c in transverse momentum and from -0.1 to 0.5 in Feynman x. Inclusive invariant cross sections are given on a grid of 270 bins per charge thus offering for the first time a dense coverage of the projectile hemisphere and of the cross-over region into the target fragmentation zone.Comment: 31 pages, 30 figures, submitted to European Journal of Physic

Energy dependence of particle ratio fluctuations in central Pb+Pb collisions from sNN=\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}} =~6.3 to 17.3 GeV

We present measurements of the energy dependence of event-by-event fluctuations in the K/pi and (p + \bar{p})/pi multiplicity ratios in heavy ion collisions at the CERN SPS. The particle ratio fluctuations were obtained for central Pb+Pb collisions at five collision energies, \sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}, between 6.3 and 17.3 GeV. After accounting for the effects of finite-number statistics and detector resolution, we extract the strength of non-statistical fluctuations at each energy. For the K/pi ratio, larger fluctuations than expected for independent particle production are found at all collision energies. The fluctuations in the (p + \bar{p})/pi ratio are smaller than expectations from independent particle production, indicating correlated pion and proton production from resonance decays. For both ratios, the deviation from purely statistical fluctuations shows an increase towards lower collision energies. The results are compared to transport model calculations, which fail to describe the energy dependence of the K/pi ratio fluctuations.Comment: 11 pages, 10 figures, update to published versio

Results are presented from a search for the decays D0 -> Kmin piplus and D0bar -> Kplus pimin in a sample of 3.8x10^6 central Pb-Pb events collected with a beam energy of 158A GeV by NA49 at the CERN SPS. No signal is observed. An upper limit on D0 production is derived and compared to predictions from several models.Comment: REVTEX 5 pages, 4 figure
