Large-scale Mixed Traffic Control Using Dynamic Vehicle Routing and Privacy-Preserving Crowdsourcing

Controlling and coordinating urban traffic flow through robot vehicles is emerging as a novel transportation paradigm for the future. While this approach garners growing attention from researchers and practitioners, effectively managing and coordinating large-scale mixed traffic remains a challenge. We introduce an effective framework for large-scale mixed traffic control via privacy-preserving crowdsourcing and dynamic vehicle routing. Our framework consists of three modules: a privacy-protecting crowdsensing method, a graph propagation-based traffic forecasting method, and a privacy-preserving route selection mechanism. We evaluate our framework using a real-world road network. The results show that our framework accurately forecasts traffic flow, efficiently mitigates network-wide RV shortage issue, and coordinates large-scale mixed traffic. Compared to other baseline methods, our framework not only reduces the RV shortage issue up to 69.4% but also reduces the average waiting time of all vehicles in the network up to 27%.Comment: Accepted to IEEE Internet of Things Journa

Test the arbitrage opportunity by using put-call parity model related to Canadian index option

    Get PDF
1 online resource (iii, 70 leaves)Includes abstract and appendices.Includes bibliographical references (leaves 30-32).The main idea of this paper is to test whether there is arbitrage opportunity in Canadian index option market. This paper uses the put-call parity relationship to do the test. In order to make the test more logical, reasonable and close to reality, there are four assumptions made by this paper. The data, which this paper used, is also close to those assumptions. To test the existence of the arbitrage opportunity, 1266 pairs of data are used which include 633 long hedge positions and 633 short hedge positions. AT-test was used to test the existence of the arbitrage opportunities. The paper did the test separately for the long hedge position and short hedge position. The final conclusion of this paper is that, there are no significant arbitrage opportunities in the Canadian option market, but the arbitrage opportunities only really exist for very small probabilities

Improving content based image retrieval by identifying least and most correlated visual words

    Get PDF
In this paper, we propose a model for direct incorporation of im- age content into a (short-term) user profile based on correlations between visual words and adaptation of the similarity measure. The relationships between visual words at different contextual levels are explored. We introduce and compare var- ious notions of correlation, which in general we will refer to as image-level and proximity-based. The information about the most and the least correlated visual words can be exploited in order to adapt the similarity measure. The evaluation, preceding an experiment involving real users (future work), is performed within the Pseudo Relevance Feedback framework. We test our new method on three large data collections, namely MIRFlickr, ImageCLEF, and a collection from British National Geological Survey (BGS). The proposed model is computation- ally cheap and scalable to large image collections

Highly sensitive label-free colorimetric sensing of nitrite based on etching of gold nanorods

A simple colorimetric method with high sensitivity and selectivity was developed for sensing of nitrite as low as 4.0 mu M by naked eyes, which is based on etching of gold nanorods accompanied by shape changes in aspect ratios (length/width) and a visible color change from bluish green to red and then to colorless with the increase of nitrite
