Including the most vulnerable : social funds and people with disabilities

People with disabilities face many of the challenges that other vulnerable groups face, such as lack of adequate support services in their communities, lack of resources and economic opportunities, and physical and attitudinal barriers to their participating fully in society. One of the best-established World Bank instruments for targeting poor, and vulnerable groups is social funds. The authors review the extent of current disability activities within World Bank-financed social funds, and provide recommendations, and resources for increasing support for persons with disabilities in social fund subprojects. Among other initiatives, social funds can provide infrastructure, and services that people with disabilities can use, support organizations that help persons with disabilities formulate, and demand projects, and promote greater public understanding of disability issues.Health Monitoring&Evaluation,Social Cohesion,Social Protections&Assistance,Community Development and Empowerment,ICT Policy and Strategies

Information transfer in the Facebook group “No !!! for bandits abusive to animals”. Diagnosis of the present condition and proposal for improvement.

Praca licencjacka skupia się na wybranym zachowaniu informacyjnym, mianowicie transferze informacji (dzieleniu się informacją). Zwrócono uwagę na teorię information behawior, przy szczególnym uwzględnieniu koncepcji małych światów Elfredy Chatman i tymczasowych miejsc informacyjnych Karen Fisher. Przedstawiona jest także działalność obrońców praw zwierząt – dzieje, współczesność, założenia, obecność online. Na podstawie facebookowej grupy „Nie!!! dla bandytów maltretujących zwierzęta” zbadano transfer informacji – jego formy, treści oraz towarzyszące emocje/postawy/wartości. Podstawową procedurą badawczą była jakościowa analiza zawartości, obejmująca kodowanie zebranego materiału empirycznego (posty i komentarze). Na podstawie wyników badań własnych sformułowane zostały wytyczne, których zastosowanie może usprawnić dzielenie się informacją we wskazanym miejscu w świecie social mediów.The bachelor thesis focuses on the selected information behavior, namely information transfer (information sharing). Attention has been paid to the theory of information behavior, with particular reference to the concepts of Small Worlds by Elfreda Chatman and Information Grounds by Karen Fisher. The work of animal rights activists is also presented: history, present day, assumptions, online presence. Basing on the Facebook group „Nie!!! dla bandytów maltretujących zwierzęta” (No !!! for bandits abusive to animals) the information transfer – its forms, content and accompanying emotions/attitudes/values were examined. The main research procedure was qualitative content analysis, involving coding of the collected empirical material (posts and comments). On the basis of the research results guidelines have been formulated to improve information sharing within the analysed place in the social media world
