Dissipation and memory effects in pure glue deconfinement

We investigate the effects of dissipation in the deconfining transition for a pure SU(2) gauge theory. Using an effective model for the order parameter, we study its Langevin evolution numerically, and compare results from local additive noise dynamics to those obtained considering an exponential non-local kernel for early times.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures, to appear in the proceedings of Strong and Electroweak Matter (SEWM06), BNL, May 200

A Checklist Of Arthropods Associated With Pig Carrion And Human Corpses In Southeastern Brazil.

Necrophagous insects, mainly Diptera and Coleoptera, are attracted to specific stages of carcass decomposition, in a process of faunistic succession. They are very important in estimating the postmortem interval, the time interval between the death and the discovery of the body. In studies done with pig carcasses exposed to natural conditions in an urban forest (Santa Genebra Reservation), located in Campinas, State of São Paulo, southeastern Brazil, 4 out of 36 families of insects collected - Calliphoridae, Sarcophagidae, Muscidae (Diptera) and Dermestidae (Coleoptera) - were considered of forensic importance, because several species were collected in large numbers both visiting and breeding in pig carcasses. Several species were also observed and collected on human corpses at the Institute of Legal Medicine. The species belonged to 17 different families, 6 being of forensic importance because they were reared from human corpses or pig carcasses: Calliphoridae, Sarcophagidae, Muscidae, Piophilidae (Diptera), Dermestidae, Silphidae and Cleridae (Coleoptera). The most important species were: Diptera - Chrysomya albiceps, Chrysomya putoria, Hemilucilia segmentaria, Hemilucilia semidiaphana (Calliphoridae), Pattonella intermutans (Sarcophagidae), Ophyra chalcogaster (Muscidae), Piophila casei (Piophilidae); Coleoptera - Dermestes maculatus (Dermestidae), Oxyletrum disciolle (Silphidae) and Necrobia rufipes (Cleridae).95135-

Perturbative Yukawa theory at finite density: the role of masses and renormalization group flow at two loops

Yukawa theory at vanishing temperature provides (one of the ingredients for) an effective description of the thermodynamics of a variety of cold and dense fermionic systems. We study the role of masses and the renormalization group flow in the calculation of the equation of state up to two loops within the MSbar scheme. Two-loop integrals are computed analytically for arbitrary fermion and scalar masses, and expressed in terms of well-known special functions. The dependence of the renormalization group flow on the number of fermion flavors is also discussed.Comment: 17 pages, 11 figures, uses package feynmp; v2: minor modifications, 1 reference added; matches published versio

Nutrition balance in Brazil is a tool which has not yet been taken into consideration by the environmental and agrarian sciences and the authorities. The nutrition balance was calculated by animal waste as fertilizer. Difference between the intake of nutrients in wastes in the form of nitrogen and phosphorus and the sequester of nutrients by plant crops were obtained. Current analysis calculated the nutrient balance of livestock properties of the hydrographic micro-basin of the Dente River in Concordia, Brazil, focusing on the use of animal waste as fertilizer. Nutrient balance was calculated in ten farms representing three livestock activities in the micro-basin, or rather, swine farming, dairy cattle and aviculture. Nutrients supplied by animal waste did not meet demands required by agricultural crops in seven properties. Balance analysis revealed there was nutrient deficiency in most of the units evaluated. Only this analysis could erroneously cause an increase in animal stocks. However, the nutrient balance should be evaluated through other aspects
