Este trabalho tem por objetivo apresentar reflexões sobre os resultados de projeto de pesquisa conduzido no Observatório do Mercado de Trabalho em Informação e Documentação CNPq, na Escola de Comunicações e Artes da Universidade de São Paulo em colaboração com a Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto. O trabalho apresenta reflexões sobre dimensões éticas que acompanha a atual era digital com vista a ministrar nos cursos de graduação de Biblioteconomia, Arquivologia, Museologia, e Ciência da Informação, uma disciplina que condense essas reflexões e problemática, desenvolvendo competências para uma ação ética na atividade profissional.This work aims to presents partial results on the research project conducted at the Observatory of the Labour Market in Information and Documentation, CNPq - School of Communications and Arts of the University of São Paulo in collaboration with the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto. Adenosine and Immune Imbalance in Visceral Leishmaniasis: The Possible Role of Ectonucleotidases

Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is the most severe form of leishmaniasis and is responsible for most Leishmania-associated deaths. VL represents a serious public health problem that affects many countries. The immune response in leishmaniasis is very complex and is poorly understood. The Th1 versus Th2 paradigm does not appear to be so clear in visceral leishmaniasis, suggesting that other immunosuppressive or immune-evasion mechanisms contribute to the pathogenesis of VL. It has been demonstrated that generation of adenosine, a potent endogenous immunosuppressant, by extracellular enzymes capable to hydrolyze adenosine tri-nucleotide (ATP) at the site of infection, can lead to immune impairment and contribute to leishmaniasis progression. In this regard, this paper discusses the unique features in VL immunopathogenesis, including a possible role for ectonucleotidases in leishmaniasis

Leishmania amazonensis: Inhibition of 3′-nucleotidase activity by Cu2+ ions

AbstractFree Cu2+ is toxic due to the capacity of free copper ions to catalyze the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) that can modify the structure and/or function of biomolecules. In addition, non-specific binding to enzymes, which modifies their catalytic activities, can occur. In this work, the mechanisms underlying the ability of copper to inhibit 3′-nucleotidase from Leishmania amazonensis (La3′-nucleotidase) were investigated. To that end, La3′-nucleotidase activity was assayed with CuCl2 in the presence of ascorbate or hydrogen peroxide to discriminate non-specific binding effects from pro-oxidant effects of copper. Copper inhibitory effects were greater at more acidic pH than at alkaline pH. The addition of enzyme substrate, adenosine 3′-monophosphate (3′AMP), prevented the inhibition of enzyme activity by copper. Thiol-containing compounds were able to protect the enzyme activity against inhibition due to copper. The specific copper chelating agent bathocuproine sulphonate (BCS) restored enzyme activity after pre-treatment of the enzyme with copper. La3′-nucleotidase activity was found to be resistant to ROS generated during oxidation reactions of ascorbate and hydrogen peroxide catalyzed by copper. Our results suggest that Cu2+ ions exert their inhibitory effects by binding to specific motifs of the 3′-nucleotidase protein and that the enzyme appears to be extremely resistant to ROS

Este trabalho tem por objetivo apresentar resultados de projeto de pesquisa conduzido no núcleo de Ciência da Informação do Departamento de Ciência da Comunicação e Informação da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto. Apresenta reflexões no campo da formação do profissional da informação na Era Digital. Destaca-se a importância da educação como uma ferramenta associada a promoção do crescimento econômico, geração de riqueza e distribuição de renda. No contexto da Ciência da Informação, Biblioteconomia, Arquivologia, Museologia e áreas afins, revisões de projetos pedagógicos são impostas pelas novas demandas por profissionais com habilidades inter-trans--multidisciplinares, capacidade de inovação e habilidades em lidar com ferramentas de tecnologias digitais, sem limitações geopolíticas, e com diversidade cultural. Neste contexto, o objetivo deste trabalho está em analisar o modelo organizacional de ensino e pesquisa de uma amostra das escolas de informação que fazem parte do consórcio iSchools, com foco em orientar a tomada de decisão na modernização e inovação nos planos de ensino e pesquisa na área da Ciência da Informação e na contribuição para o desenho e proposta de laboratório de ensino e pesquisa à partir da análise do modelo seguido pelas iSchools e Aplicados a Informação, Comunicação e Cultura sintonizado com as demandas da Sociedade em Rede e da Era Digital

Tecnologia e organização da informação VI TOI 2020: Base para a Criação de Laboratório de Ensino

O TOI - 6º Congresso Internacional em Tecnologia e Organização da Informação é iniciativa do Grupo de Pesquisa "Observatório do Mercado de Trabalho em Informação e Documentação (OMTID) - CNPq" da Escola de Comunicações e Artes ECA - USP em colaboração acadêmica e científica com o CITCEM - Centro de Investigação Transdisciplinar Cultura, Espaço e Memória, Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto e o LTi Laboratório de Tecnologias Intelectuais, Universidade Federal da Paraíba. O 6º Congresso Internacional em Tecnologia e Organização da Informação tem como principal foco reunir pesquisadores, estudantes e profissionais da área da Ciência da Informação: Biblioteconomia, Arquivologia, Museologia, e afins, com objetivo de promover a reflexão e o diálogo em torno de temas relevantes para a sociedade da informação: Gestão da Informação, Tecnologia e Sistemas de Informação, Biblioteca Digital, Conservação e Preservação da Informação, Curadoria Digital, Ética da Informação, Tecnologia e Organização da Informação, Ciência de Dados, Inteligência Artificial, Modelos de Busca e Recuperação da Informação, e Mercado de Trabalho do Profissional da Informação. It discusses the qualification of the information professional in the Digital Era, pointing out the importance of education as a tool associated to the promotion of economic growth, generation of wealth and income distribution. In the context of Information Science, Librarianship, Archival Science, Museology, and related areas, the reviewing of educational projects is necessary as the result of the new demands for professionals with inter-trans-multidisciplinary skills, with the ability for innovation and the capacity of dealing with digital technology tools, unhindered by geopolitical limitations and able to deal with cultural diversity. In this context, the objectives of this article are, firstly, to analyze the organizational model of teaching and research of a sample of the information schools of the iSchools consortium, with a focus on helping decision-making with regard to modernization and innovation in the teaching and research plans in the field of Information Science; and secondly, to contribute to the design of teaching and research laboratories applied to information, communication and culture, in line with the demands of the Network Society and the Digital Era, having as a basis an analysis of the model followed by iSchools

A complexidade da era digital desafia a ética

Este trabalho tem por objetivo apresentar resultados de projeto de pesquisa conduzido na Escola de Comunicações e Artes da Universidade de São Paulo em colaboração com a Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto. Reflete de forma teórica sobre a complexidade da evolução tecnológica e a explosão do universo digital na sociedade em rede. A metodologia adotada é exploratório-bibliográfica. Foca no ambiente de busca, acesso, apropriação e uso da informação, impactado pelo fenômeno do Big Data, e nas demandas por novas habilidades, competências e abordagens no que se refere aos desafios éticos na era digital.This paper presents the results of a research conducted at the School of Arts and Communications of the University of São Paulo and the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto. It discusses, from a theoretical point of view, the complexity of the technological evolution and the explosion of the digital universe in the network society. The exploratory method was used to achieve the results. This environment for the search, access, appropriation and use of information, transformed by the phenomenon of Big Data, demands new skills, abilities and approaches with regard to the ethical challenges in the digital era

Ethics of information in the digital age

A inclusão digital está também relacionada ao desenvolvimento nos indivíduos de habilidades ecompetências para acesso, uso e disseminação eficiente da informação. Além disso, a evolução contínuatecnológica, tal como a emergência da Web semântica, leva a novos perfis e demandas do profissional dainformação. A organização e gestão da informação com grandes coleções de materiais necessitam reavaliarconstantemente a identidade e propósitos principais de seus usuários. Bibliotecas estão desenvolvendocontinuamente processos e serviços de forma a explorar os benefícios da Web Semântica. Neste trabalho,discutimos as principais tendências nesse campo, em especial aquelas que influenciam o contexto da Webde Dados.Digital inclusion is also related to the development of individuals in skills and competencies toaccess, use and efficiently dissemination of information.
