Frequency of Indian Health Insurance Claims Data using Zero-Inflated Poisson (ZIP) and Zero-Inflated Negative Binomial (ZINB) Regression Models

    Get PDF
The study focused on Indian health insurance claims using the ZIP model (Zero-Inflated Poisson) ZINB model (Zero-Inflated Negative Binomial) and Poisson regression analysis used for measuring the zero-Inflated count data. Frequency of claiming insurance modelled the regression analysis with gender priorities and the situations. The analysis consists of two basic situations based on frequency of claims and priorities of gender. To check the models whether fitted or valid using AIC and -2 Log – likelihood measures and Vuong test statistics to compare the fitted models. The ZIP and ZINB regression models suit for above mentioned situations, to compare the (females and males), secondly (females and males with others, transgenders

Understanding The Role Of Family Management In Ethnically Diverse Children With Adhd From Urban Philadelphia

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is the most common neurodevelopmental condition of childhood. Prior research shows improvement in ADHD outcomes with parental and family engagement. What is less known, however, is how caregivers from diverse families manage childhood ADHD on a daily basis and how family management factors correlate with child functioning. Guided by the family management framework, the purpose of this study was to understand how ethnically diverse caregivers manage childhood ADHD in their everyday lives and how family management is related to children’s level of functional impairment. This mixed methods study used a concurrent nested design (QUAL [quan]) to independently analyze and integrate cross-sectional qualitative and quantitative data from caregivers of children with ADHD recruited from diverse families living in urban Philadelphia (N=50). Semi-structured qualitative interviews were conducted to explore how caregivers managed ADHD in their everyday lives and identified barriers and facilitators of family management. Quantitative questionnaires were completed by caregivers to describe child, caregiver, and environmental characteristics and understand how family management factors influenced children’s functional impairment. The qualitative and quantitative data were then integrated and transformed at the level of analysis to further understand the experience of families whose children are higher and lower functioning. Qualitative results (from directed content analysis) revealed robust and descriptive themes within family management, including the child’s daily life, condition management effort, condition management ability, and view of condition impact. Barriers and facilitators were also described, including those within immediate and extended families, educational and healthcare systems, financial, policy, and insurance issues, and mental health stigma within communities. Quantitative results (using descriptive and inferential statistics) confirmed these themes in a diverse sample of caregivers and children. Family management factors and children’s functional impairment were significantly correlated (\u3c.05; weak to moderate) in hypothesized directions. Qualitative themes were complemented by quantitative results and elucidated the daily work of families who are managing ADHD at higher and lower levels of functional impairment. Findings from this study have implications for research, practice, and policy related to the complexities of treatment, experiences of caregivers, and stigma regarding in developmental and mental health conditions among children

Outcome of posterior lumbar interbody fusion in low-grade spondylolisthesis

Background: Spondylolisthesis is the slippage of all or part of one vertebra in relationship to a caudal vertebra, most commonly occurring in the lumbar spine. Fusion is the recommended treatment of choice. Posterior stabilization with posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF) is an established procedure with good outcomes. To study functional and radiological outcomes of PLIF in grade 1 and 2 lumbar spondylolisthesis. Methods: This is a prospective study in 30 patients who underwent PLIF and followed up for one year. Functional outcomes were measured in terms of visual analogue scale (VAS) and the Modified Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), and the fusion was assessed on plain radiographs. Results: There was a significant improvement in VAS of low back pain (90.71%, p<0.001) and VAS of radiating (82.52%; p<0.001). The ODI scores were significantly improved (63.65%, p<0.001) at 1 year follow up. The fusion rate was 70%, and 56.66% patients reported excellent outcomes. Conclusions: Based on functional outcomes and the fusion rates of PLIF, we conclude that PLIF is a recommended and excellent surgical option in the management of low grade lumbar spondylolisthesis

Exploring Substance Use for Undergraduate Nursing Students within their College Experience

    No full text
Substance use is a disease, which often develops during the undergraduate years. Nursing undergraduate students who typically endorsed high levels of stress exhibited higher rates of substance abuse and in this study, this is explored. This study is a sequential mixed methods study that consists of quantitative and qualitative data that was collected via online surveys (April 2019) and interviews that took place (June 2019-February 2020). The data refers to 679 undergraduate students aged 18-57 years old who were recruited by the National Student Nurses Association, and were enrolled in nursing courses at the junior or senior level

The Development and validation of few UV Spectrophotometric methods for the determination of Apremilast in bulk form and pharmaceutical dosage form

Apremilast is an analog of thalidomide and used as a medication for the treatment of certain type of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. It is pale yellow to white colour powder which is non-hygroscopic and practically insoluble in water and buffer solutions of wide pH range, but is soluble is lipophilic solvents like acetone , acetonitrile , butanone , dichloromethane and tetrahydrofuran. Validation study was performed to develop novel, simple, precise, sensitive and accurate UV spectrophotometric method w for the estimation of Apremilast. Double beam UV-VIS spectrophotometer (UV-1800, Shimadzu, Japan) with a pair of 10mm path length matched quartz cells were used for the study. Method A(methanol), Method B(ethanol), Method C(DMSO), Method D( acetonitrile) were developed foe estimation of Apremilast by zero-order and first-order derivative. Linearity was carried out in the concentration range of 0.2-1.0µg/ml and correlation coefficients were found to be 0.999. The relative standard deviation was found to be <2%. The LOD and LOQ were found to be 0.120µg/ml and 0.7810µg/ml respectively. Hence, the methods were validated according to ICH to guidelines and can be adopted for the routine analysis of Apremilast in pure and table dosage form. Keywords: Apremilast, UV visible spectrophotometer, zero-order, first-order derivative, ICH guidelines

Dissolution-Driven Convection in a Porous Medium Due to Vertical Axis of Rotation and Magnetic Field

    No full text
This article aims to study the effect of the vertical rotation and magnetic field on the dissolution-driven convection in a saturated porous layer with a first-order chemical reaction. The system’s physical parameters depend on the Vadasz number, the Hartmann number, the Taylor number, and the Damkohler number. We analyze them in an in-depth manner. On the other hand, based on an artificial neural network (ANN) technique, the Levenberg–Marquardt backpropagation algorithm is adopted to predict the distribution of the critical Rayleigh number and for the linear stability analysis. The simulated critical Rayleigh numbers obtained by the numerical study and the predicted critical Rayleigh numbers by the ANN are compared and are in good agreement. The system becomes more stable by increasing the Damkohler and Taylor numbers
