More on deviation from bi-maximal neutrino mixing
We study the case of presenting the exact bi-maximal mixing form with
inducing the deviation from the bi-maximal mixing in the final form of
the Pontecorvo-Maki-Nakagawa-Sakata neutrino mixing, . We
will show that such possibility will lead to a democratic texture for the
charged lepton mass matrix and to a neutrino mass matrix with four null
entries.Comment: a scenario realizing our proposal is added, new references added, to
be published in J.Phys.
Spontaneous breaking of a global symmetry in a 331 model
In a 331 model in which the lepton masses arise from a scalar sextet it is
possible to break spontaneously a global symmetry implying in a pseudoscalar
majoron-like Goldstone boson. This majoron does not mix with any other scalar
fields and for this reason it does not couple, at the tree level, neither to
the charged leptons nor to the quarks. Moreover, its interaction with neutrinos
is diagonal. We also argue that there is a set of the parameters in which that
the model can be consistent with the invisible Z^0-width and that heavy
neutrinos can decay sufficiently rapid by majoron emission having a lifetime
shorter than the age of the universe.Comment: RevTex, 10 pages, one .eps figur
Electric charge quantization and the muon anomalous magnetic moment
We investigate some proposals to solve the electric charge quantization
puzzle, which simultaneously explain the recent measured deviation on the muon
anomalous magnetic moment. For this we assess extensions of the Electro-Weak
Standard Model spanning modifications on the scalar sector only. It is
interesting to verify that one can have modest extensions which easily account
for the solution for both problems.Comment: 20 pages, 1 figures, needs macro axodraw.st
Inflation and late time acceleration in braneworld cosmological models with varying brane tension
Braneworld models with variable brane tension introduce a new
degree of freedom that allows for evolving gravitational and cosmological
constants, the latter being a natural candidate for dark energy. We consider a
thermodynamic interpretation of the varying brane tension models, by showing
that the field equations with variable can be interpreted as
describing matter creation in a cosmological framework. The particle creation
rate is determined by the variation rate of the brane tension, as well as by
the brane-bulk energy-matter transfer rate. We investigate the effect of a
variable brane tension on the cosmological evolution of the Universe, in the
framework of a particular model in which the brane tension is an exponentially
dependent function of the scale factor. The resulting cosmology shows the
presence of an initial inflationary expansion, followed by a decelerating
phase, and by a smooth transition towards a late accelerated de Sitter type
expansion. The varying brane tension is also responsible for the generation of
the matter in the Universe (reheating period). The physical constraints on the
model parameters, resulted from the observational cosmological data, are also
investigated.Comment: 25 pages, 8 figures, accepted for publication in European Physical

Seesaw tau lepton mass and calculable neutrino masses in a 3-3-1 model
In a version of the 3-3-1 model proposed by Duong and Ma the introduction of
the scalar sextet for giving mass to the charged leptons is avoided by adding a
singlet charged lepton. We show that in this case the lepton gains mass
through a seesaw--like mechanism. Besides we show how to generate neutrino
masses at the tree and at the 1-loop level with the respective
Maki-Nakagawa-Sakata leptonic mixing matrices.Comment: revtex, 5 pages and one eps figure. Published versio
Two-loop Barr-Zee type Contributions to in the MSSM
We consider the contribution of a two-loop Barr-Zee type diagram to
in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). At relatively
large , we show that the contribution of light third generation
scalar fermions and neutral CP-even Higgs, , can easily explain the
very recent BNL experimental data. In our analysis prefers negative
and positive . It is more sensitive to the chirality flipping
h^0(H^0)\wt{f}_R^*\wt{f}_L rather than chirality conserving couplings.Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures, references adde
Antenna subtraction for gluon scattering at NNLO
We use the antenna subtraction method to isolate the double real radiation
infrared singularities present in gluonic scattering amplitudes at
next-to-next-to-leading order. The antenna subtraction framework has been
successfully applied to the calculation of NNLO corrections to the 3-jet cross
section and related event shape distributions in electron-positron
annihilation. Here we consider processes with two coloured particles in the
initial state, and in particular two-jet production at hadron colliders such as
the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We construct a subtraction term that describes
the single and double unresolved contributions from the six-gluon tree-level
process using antenna functions with initial state partons and show numerically
that the subtraction term correctly approximates the matrix elements in the
various single and double unresolved configurations.Comment: 71 pages, JHEP3 class; corrected typos, equivalent but more compact

Anesthesiology Consensus in the Management of the Airway
Vacuum Instabilities with a Wrong-Sign Higgs-Gluon-Gluon Amplitude
The recently discovered 125 GeV boson appears very similar to a Standard
Model Higgs, but with data favoring an enhanced h to gamma gamma rate. A number
of groups have found that fits would allow (or, less so after the latest
updates, prefer) that the h-t-tbar coupling have the opposite sign. This can be
given meaning in the context of an electroweak chiral Lagrangian, but it might
also be interpreted to mean that a new colored and charged particle runs in
loops and produces the opposite-sign hGG amplitude to that generated by
integrating out the top, as well as a contribution reinforcing the W-loop
contribution to hFF. In order to not suppress the rate of h to WW and h to ZZ,
which appear to be approximately Standard Model-like, one would need the loop
to "overshoot," not only canceling the top contribution but producing an
opposite-sign hGG vertex of about the same magnitude as that in the SM. We
argue that most such explanations have severe problems with fine-tuning and,
more importantly, vacuum stability. In particular, the case of stop loops
producing an opposite-sign hGG vertex of the same size as the Standard Model
one is ruled out by a combination of vacuum decay bounds and LEP constraints.
We also show that scenarios with a sign flip from loops of color octet charged
scalars or new fermionic states are highly constrained.Comment: 20 pages, 8 figures; v2: references adde
