O efeito de dois regimes de irrigação sobre o crescimento inicial de Solarium lycocarpum (Solanaceae) foi examinado em plântulas crescendo em casa de vegetação. Aos sete dias após o plantio, as plantas foram submetidas a dois tratamentos diferenciados de irrigação, com maior (Tl) e menor (T2) disponibilidade de água. Em 15 dias apresentaram percentagem de germinação (medida pela emergência das plântulas) de 6,8 no Tl e 15,9 no T2. Nos dois tratamentos o comprimento da raiz foi superior ao da parte aérea, entretanto a massa seca da parte aérea foi cerca de duas vezes maior que a da raiz. Os resultados apontam para uma característica adaptativa da espécie para sobrevivência em condições de baixa disponibilidade de água.<br>The effect of water availability on the early growth of Solarium lycocarpum (Solanaceae) was investigated in seedlings growing in a greenhouse. On the seventh day after planting they were submitted to two different water treatments: T1 with more and T2 with less water availability. On the fifteenth day after planting, seedlings showed a germination percentage of 6.8 for T1 and 15.9 in T2. In both treatments the root length was greater than the height of the shoot, although the dry weight of the shoot was twice fold that of the roots. These results indicate an adaptive characteristic of the species to a water shortage

Este artigo apresenta uma reflexão etnográfica a respeito da relação entre gênero e sociabilidade no sudoeste de Goiás, em pequenos municípios rurais. A proposta é ampliar o olhar sobre as relações de gênero no meio rural e descrever e compreender um processo social - um universo de festividades - que privilegia sociabilidades entre pessoas do mesmo sexo. O texto pretende mostrar que, para além da divisão sexual do trabalho e da complementaridade entre os sexos, as relações do tipo "mesmo sexo" põem em xeque a ideia de antagonismo entre homens e mulheres dentro da matriz da heterossexualidade e, além disso, problematizam a reprodução mecânica da família patriarcal nas relações de gênero no campo.<br>This article will present a brief ethnographic study of the relationship between gender and sociability in the southwest of Goiás, in small rural villages. The proposal is to expand the view on gender relations in rural areas and provide a social process - a universe of festivities - which emphasizes sociability between the same sex without subtracting the hegemony of heterosexual relationships and sexual division of labor. This article aims to show that same-sex relationships are challenging the idea of antagonism between men and women within the matrix of heterosexuality and, moreover, critique the mechanical reproduction of the patriarchal family in gender relations in the rural world

Este artigo situa a concepção de sistema público de ensino no quadro do pensamento político de Rui Barbosa e do liberalismo republicano de João Köpke. Depois de apresentar as posições com que consideram a questão, o texto investiga os argumentos desenvolvidos na prática parlamentar de Rui Barbosa e na carreira profissional de João Köpke, para compreender as relações que os dois autores mantiveram com os critérios de reforma da instrução pública no século XIX.<br>This article situates the concept of public-school education system within the framework of Rui Barbosa's political thought and João Köpke's republican liberalism. After presenting their views on this issue, the text explores the arguments developed during Rui Barbosa's parliamentary practice and João Köpke's professional carrier to try to understand the relationship both authors kept with public education reform criteria in the 19th century
