A new genus and species of mite (Acari: Podapolipidae) associated with the locust, Patanga succincta Linné (Orthoptera: Acrididae).
Locustipolipus patangae gen. et sp. nov. is described. This ectoparasitic mite was 1st found in Penghu, Taiwan, on the mid- and hind thorax and around the bases of the fore- and hindwings of Patanga succincta in January 1979. It was also found on Oedaleus sp. When the mites were overcrowded, they also attached to the dorsal abdominal segments and the genitalia
2 New species of podapolipidae (Acari), ectoparasites of grasshoppers (Orthoptera, Acrididae) in Taiwan
Two new species of podapolipids are described: Podapolipus transversus from Atractomorpha ambigua Bol.; Podapolipoides acridae from Acrida chinensis (Westw.). All hosts are Acrididae (Orthoptera)
