Statistical properties of one dimensional attractive Bose gas

Using classical field approximation we present the first study of statistical properties of one dimensional Bose gas with attractive interaction. The canonical probability distribution is generated with the help of a Monte Carlo method. This way we obtain not only the depletion of the condensate with growing temperature but also its fluctuations. The most important is our discovery of a reduced coherence length, the phenomenon observed earlier only for the repulsive gas, known as quasicondensation.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure

Spectral microscopic mechanisms and quantum phase transitions in a 1D correlated problem

In this paper we study the dominant microscopic processes that generate nearly the whole one-electron removal and addition spectral weight of the one-dimensional Hubbard model for all values of the on-site repulsion UU. We find that for the doped Mott-Hubbard insulator there is a competition between the microscopic processes that generate the one-electron upper-Hubbard band spectral-weight distributions of the Mott-Hubbard insulating phase and finite-doping-concentration metallic phase, respectively. The spectral-weight distributions generated by the non-perturbative processes studied here are shown elsewhere to agree quantitatively for the whole momentum and energy bandwidth with the peak dispersions observed by angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy in quasi-one-dimensional compounds.Comment: 18 pages, 2 figure

Density Fluctuations in the Oscillatory Phase of Nonclassical Inflaton in FRW Universe

Using coherent and squeezed state formalisms of quantum optics for a minimally coupled non-classical inflaton in the FRW mertic is studied, in semiclassical theory of gravity. The leading order solution for the semiclassical Einstein equations in the coherent, squeezed and squeezed vacuum states are obtained perturbatively and are exhibit powerlaw expansion behaviour. The validity of the semiclassical theory is examined in the squeezed vacuum state in the oscillatory phase of the inflaton. The semiclassical theory in the oscillatory phase of the non-classical inflaton holds only if the associated squeezing parameter is much less compared to unity. Quantum fluctuations of the inflaton is also examined in coherent and squeezed state formalisms.Comment: 14 pages, 2 figures, To appear in Int.J.Mod.Phys.

Mermin's Pentagram as an Ovoid of PG(3,2)

Mermin's pentagram, a specific set of ten three-qubit observables arranged in quadruples of pairwise commuting ones into five edges of a pentagram and used to provide a very simple proof of the Kochen-Specker theorem, is shown to be isomorphic to an ovoid (elliptic quadric) of the three-dimensional projective space of order two, PG(3,2). This demonstration employs properties of the real three-qubit Pauli group embodied in the geometry of the symplectic polar space W(5,2) and rests on the facts that: 1) the four observables/operators on any of the five edges of the pentagram can be viewed as points of an affine plane of order two, 2) all the ten observables lie on a hyperbolic quadric of the five-dimensional projective space of order two, PG(5,2), and 3) that the points of this quadric are in a well-known bijective correspondence with the lines of PG(3,2).Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure

Speed of reaction diffusion in embryogenesis

    Get PDF
Reaction diffusion systems have been proposed as mechanisms for patterning during many stages of embryonic development. While much attention has been focused on the study of the steady state patterns formed and the robustness of pattern selection, much less is known about the time scales required for pattern formation. Studies of gradient formation by the diffusion of a single morphogen from a localized source have shown that patterning can occur on realistic time scales over distances of a millimeter or less. Reaction diffusion has the potential to give rise to patterns on a faster time scale, since all points in the domain can act as sources of morphogen. However, the speed at which patterning can occur has hitherto not been explored in depth. In this paper, we investigate this issue in specific reaction diffusion models and address the question of whether patterning via reaction diffusion is fast enough to be applicable to morphogenesis
