    The story centers on the narrator, Jake Barnes and his love interest, Lady Brett Ashley, with whom he is unable to sustain a romantic relationship due to a war injury that has rendered him impotent. In this article love is shown in a very superficial manner. It is so because most of the characters are self-seeking in love. Love fails to offer it’s natural and becomes a dehumanizing force. The love between Jake and Brett does not rise to desirable proportions because Jake is physically disabled and Brett is spiritually incapacitated. Had Brett not been so, the union with Romero should have proved to be a perfect one. The failure of their love was not the failure of Romero who is both bodily and spiritually sound; it is owing to the inadequacy of Brett as a beloved her in ability of total absorption in love and surrender to her lover. Jake is the suitable partner in love who can act for the happiness of another and can rising above all self-seeking, but he fails to give physical satisfaction. Romero’s love possesses Brett fully for a time and brings some change which has a moral significance in her character and sheds light on what love can really do if it is perfect. This novel provides a clue about Hemingway’s negative attitude to love

    Influence of some Pesticides on Entomopathogenic Fungus Lecanicillium (=Verticillium) lecanii (Zimm.) ZARE & GAMS

    An in vitro study was conducted to determine the interaction effect of ten pesticides tested at field recommended dose on conidial germination, vegetative growth and sporulation of Lecanicillium lecanii(ZIMM.) ZARE&GAMS. Compatibility of L. lecanii to different pesticides was found to be varied. Conidial germination was 99.3 and 85.7% in Pongamia oil and acephate, whereas, it was totally inhibited by the presence of chlorothalonil, iprodion + carbendazim, carbendazim and thiophanate methyl indicating that these pesticides were highly toxic. Dinocap recorded as moderately toxic while endosulfan, abamectin and ethion were least toxic based to the germination of conidia. So also Iprodion + carbendazim did not and carbendazim allow L. lecanii to put forth mycelium growth in their presence. Thiophanate methyl, Pongamia oil, acephate, endosulfan, ethion and chlorothalonil were observed to be innocuous pesticides registering growth of mycelium upto 2.33, 2.23, 2.23, 2.03, 2.03 and 2.00 cm dia., respectively, from 0.6 cm dia. held in the center of Petri plate on 14th day after treatment. As far as sporulation is concerned, Pongamia oil alone recorded the maximum yield of 47.2x106 conidia/ml followed by 18x106 conidia/ml, in chlorothalonil as against 20x106 conidia/ml in control, which means that the pongamia oil exhibited synergistic effect on L. lecanii, yielding more conidial spores. Thus, based on in vitro interaction study, pongamia oil alone was found to be safe to the entamopathogenic fungus L. lecanii in nature and iprodion + carbendazim and carbendazim were found to be highly toxic

    During a trial in 2009 at Moorapoor Village, Dharmapuri district, Tamil Nadu, for control of mango hoppers and thrips using entomo-pathogens, inflorescences were seen to harbour different species of thrips. Close microscopic observation revealed presence of Frankliniella schultzei (Tryb.), Thrips palmi Karny, T. hawaiiensis (Morgan) and T. subnudula. However, Thrips palmi was the predominant species whereas, for the first time Frankliniella schultzai and Thrips subnudula (Karny, 1927) are reported here on inflorescence of mango in India

    PSO Optimized CNN-SVM Architecture for Covid -19 Classification

    This paper presents a hybrid model that utilizes PSO particle swarm optimization, Convolution Neural Networks (CNN) and (SVM) Support Vector Machine architecture for recognition of Covid19.The planned model extracts optimized structures with particle swarm optimization then passes to Convolution Neural Network for automatic feature extraction, while the SVM serves as a Multi classifier. The dataset comprises Covid 19, Pneumonia and Normal Chest X-Ray pictures used to hone and evaluate the suggested algorithm. The most distinct traits are automatically extracted by the algorithm from these photographs. Experimental results show that the suggested framework is effective, with an average recognition accuracy of 97.42%.The most successful SVM Kernel was RBF

    The Lymph Node Is One Of The Major Anatomic Components Of The Immune System. Lymph Nodes Are The Most Widely Distributed And Easily Accessible Component Of Lymphoid Tissue And Hence They Are Frequently Examined For Diagnosis Of Lymphoreticular Disorders. Diagnosis Of Lymphadenopathy Depends Mainly On Excision Of A Gland And Histopathological Examination. For This, General Anaesthesia And Hospitalisation Are Required. Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology, On The Other Hand, Is Free From These Disadvantages And Can Safely Be Used As An Alternative Or Complementary Investigative Technique. Anatomy: Lymph Nodes Are Organized Collections Of Lymphoreticular Tissue In The Form Of Pink Gray, Kidney Shaped, Encapsulated Organs. They Are Located At Anatomically Constant Points Along The Course Of Lymphatic Vessels. The Common Sites Of Distribution For Clinical Consideration Are The Cervical, Axillary, Supraclavicular And Inguinal Regions. Histology: The Lymph Node Consists Of Lymphocyte Aggregations, Intermeshed With Lymphatic Sinuses Supported By Reticular Fibre Framework And Surrounded By Connective Tissue Capsule. The Lymph Node Has Cortex, Para Cortex, And Medulla. The Cortex Is Situated Beneath The Capsule And Contains Large Number Of Follicles. The Medulla Close To The Hilum Is Rich In Lymph Sinuses, Arteries, And Veins But Contains Only A Minor Lymphocytic Component. Both Cortex And Medulla Represent ‘B’zones. The Cortex Contains Primary And Secondary Follicles, Which Are Characterized By The Presence Of Central Pale Area Of Germinal Centers. The Cells Present In These Formations Are Blymphocytes Known As Follicular Center Cells (Centroblasts, Centrocytes Or Small And Large Cleaved And Noncleaved Cells), Macrophages, And Follicular Dentritic Cells. A Mantle Of Dark Staining Small B-Lymphocytes Surrounds The Germinal Centre. The Para Cortex Is The Zone Situated Between The Cortex And Medulla Which Contains The Mobile Pool Of T Lymphocytes50 Development: In Human Embryo, The Lymph Sacs From Which The Lymph Vessels Are Derived Are Six In Number. 2 Paired (Jugular And The Posterior Lymph Sacs) And Two Unpaired (The Retroperitoneal And Cysterna Chyli).     Study of breast lesions in cytology and its histopathological correlation

    Background: Breast cancer is commonly diagnosed malignancy in females and is leading cause of death. Malignant lesions mostly occur after menopause. Fine needle aspiration cytology is minimally invasive technique, used in triple test and produces speedy results. It can able to differentiate between benign and malignant lesions of breast lump. Our study aims to categorize the breast lesion and to correlate FNAC with histopathological studies. Methods: This retrospective study was done in department of pathology from July 2021 to May 2023.107 cases were undergone FNAC and slides were examined and lesions were categorized. Tissue biopsies were obtained, processed and histological sections were made and examined. The FNAC findings were correlated and analyzed with histological findings. Results: Right breast lesions (55%) were more in our study than left breast lesions (42%). Totally 77 cases were diagnosed as benign lesions by FNAC of which 37 cases were biopsied and histological diagnosis of all cases shown as benign category. 6 cases were diagnosed as proliferative breast disease with atypia of which only one case was received for biopsy and diagnosed as atypical ductal hyperplasia. 12 cases were diagnosed as malignancy and 6 biopsies were received with 5 cases were diagnosed as malignant lesions. Sensitivity and Specificity of FNAC in breast lesions were 100% and 97.43% respectively. Conclusions: FNAC is rapid and valuable tool with high sensitivity, specificity and low false positivity. It is useful in preoperative evaluation and avoids unnecessary surgical intervention

(1) DEFINITION OF INFERTILITY It Has Been Defined As One Year Of Unprotected Coitus Without Conception. It Affects Approximately 10 – 15% Of Couples In The Reproductive Age Group. ETIOLOGY An Assessment Of Causative Factors Have Shown That 30% Cases Are Due To Male Factors 30% Due To Female Factors 30% Due To Combined Male & Female Factors 10% Due To Unexplained Causes. Among The Female Infertility Factors, 30 – 40% Cases Are Due To Ovulatory Dysfunction 30 – 40% Due To Tubal Pathology 10 – 15% Due To Unexplained Causes 10 – 15% Due To Miscellaneous Causes Like Endocrine Factors. Tubal Pathology Is Responsible For 30 – 40% Cases Of Infertility. (1) Determining Whether The Fallopian Tube Is Patent Is Part Of Initial Evaluation Procedure In Seeking The Cause Of Infertility. Currently Available Procedures Each With Its Drawbacks Include Rubin Test, Which Is Highly Subjective; Laparoscopy, Which Is Invasive And Hysterosalphingography, Which Expose The Patient To Ionizing Radiation And Contrast Medium. Of The Three Techniques Hysterosalphingography Has Been Commonly Used. (2) In Recent Years Major Technologic Advances In Diagnostic Ultrasound Have Led To Improve Image Quality Particularly With The Use Of Vaginal Probes. Negative Contrast Like Saline Can Be Used To Visualize The Endometrial Cavity (3). The Presence Of Fluid In Periovarian Region And Pouch Of Douglas Indicates The Patency Of The Tube. Further The Use Of Color Doppler To Assess Flow Through The Cornua Can Qualitate The Direction Of Flow.     An efficient green method for the synthesis of oxazino quinoline-2-amine derivatives, oxazino quinoline derivatives and chromeno oxazin-5-one derivatives have been synthesized through cyclization of aromatic aldehyde, ammonium acetate, substituted amides and 8-hydroxy-quinoline or 4-hydroxy coumarin by one-pot condensation method is described. The synthesized compounds are characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR and MASS spectral techniques and are screened further for biological activities against Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis using cup plate method and disc diffusion method

    Direct Nitrate Reductase Assay versus Microscopic Observation Drug Susceptibility Test for Rapid Detection of MDR-TB in Uganda

    The most common method for detection of drug resistant (DR) TB in resource-limited settings (RLSs) is indirect susceptibility testing on Lowenstein-Jensen medium (LJ) which is very time consuming with results available only after 2–3 months. Effective therapy of DR TB is therefore markedly delayed and patients can transmit resistant strains. Rapid and accurate tests suitable for RLSs in the diagnosis of DR TB are thus highly needed. In this study we compared two direct techniques - Nitrate Reductase Assay (NRA) and Microscopic Observation Drug Susceptibility (MODS) for rapid detection of MDR-TB in a high burden RLS. The sensitivity, specificity, and proportion of interpretable results were studied. Smear positive sputum was collected from 245 consecutive re-treatment TB patients attending a TB clinic in Kampala, Uganda. Samples were processed at the national reference laboratory and tested for susceptibility to rifampicin and isoniazid with direct NRA, direct MODS and the indirect LJ proportion method as reference. A total of 229 specimens were confirmed as M. tuberculosis, of these interpretable results were obtained in 217 (95%) with either the NRA or MODS. Sensitivity, specificity and kappa agreement for MDR-TB diagnosis was 97%, 98% and 0.93 with the NRA; and 87%, 95% and 0.78 with the MODS, respectively. The median time to results was 10, 7 and 64 days with NRA, MODS and the reference technique, respectively. The cost of laboratory supplies per sample was low, around 5 USD, for the rapid tests. The direct NRA and MODS offered rapid detection of resistance almost eight weeks earlier than with the reference method. In the study settings, the direct NRA was highly sensitive and specific. We consider it to have a strong potential for timely detection of MDR-TB in RLS
