    Monopoles without magnetic charges: Finite energy monopole-antimonopole configurations in CP1 model and restricted QCD

    We propose a new type of regular monopole-like field configuration in quantum chromodynamics (QCD) and CP^1 model. The monopole configuration can be treated as a monopole-antimonopole pair without localized magnetic charges. An exact numeric solution for a simple monopole-antimonopole solution has been obtained in CP^1 model with an appropriate potential term. We suppose that similar monopole solutions may exist in effective theories of QCD and in the electroweak standard model.Comment: 8 pages, 8 figures, 1 table, final version accepted by Phys. Lett.

    This paper studies decision rules for accepting reservations for stays in a hotel based on deterministic and stochastic mathematical programming techniques. Booking control strategies are constructed that include ideas for nesting, booking limits and bid prices. We allow for multiple day stays. Instead of optimizing a decision period consisting of a fixed set of target booking days, we simultaneously optimize the complete range of target booking dates that are open for booking at the moment of optimization. This yields a rolling horizon of overlapping decision periods, which will conveniently capture the effects of overlapping stays.Revenue management;Mathematical programming;Yield management

    Possible methods for the determination of the PP-parity of the Θ+\Theta^+-pentaquark in NN-collisions

    We present two possibilities to determine the P-parity of the pentaquark Θ+\Theta^+, in a model independent way, via the measurement of polarization observables in p+p→Θ++Σ+p+p\to \Theta^+ +\Sigma^+, or n+p→Θ++Λ0n+p\to \Theta^+ +\Lambda^0, in the near threshold region. Besides the measurement of the spin correlation coefficient, Axx=AyyA_{xx}=A_{yy}, (in collisions of transversally polarized nucleons), the coefficient DxxD_{xx} of polarization transfer from the initial proton to the final Σ+(Λ0) \Sigma^+(\Lambda^0) hyperon is also unambiguously related to the Θ+\Theta^+ parity.Comment: 7 pages, 1 figur
