    Scalar and Spinor Field Actions on Fuzzy S4S^4: fuzzy CP3CP^3 as a SF2S^2_F bundle over SF4S^4_F

    We present a manifestly Spin(5) invariant construction of squashed fuzzy CP3CP^3 as a fuzzy S2S^2 bundle over fuzzy S4S^4. We develop the necessary projectors and exhibit the squashing in terms of the radii of the S2S^2 and S4S^4. Our analysis allows us give both scalar and spinor fuzzy action functionals whose low lying modes are truncated versions of those of a commutative S4S^4.Comment: 19 page

    Emergence of heterogeneity and political organization in information exchange networks

    We present a simple model of the emergence of the division of labor and the development of a system of resource subsidy from an agent-based model of directed resource production with variable degrees of trust between the agents. The model has three distinct phases, corresponding to different forms of societal organization: disconnected (independent agents), homogeneous cooperative (collective state), and inhomogeneous cooperative (collective state with a leader). Our results indicate that such levels of organization arise generically as a collective effect from interacting agent dynamics, and may have applications in a variety of systems including social insects and microbial communities.Comment: 10 pages, 6 figure

    Electroweak Baryogenesis with dimension-6 Higgs interactions

    We present the computation of the baryon asymmetry in the SM amplified by dimension-6 Higgs interactions using the WKB approximation. Analyzing the one-loop potential it turns out that the phase transition is strongly first order in a wide range of the parameters. It is ensured not to wash out the net baryon number gained previously even for Higgs masses up to at least 170 GeV. In addition dimension-6 operators induce new sources of CP violation. Novel source terms which enhance the generated baryon asymmetry emerge in the transport equations. This model predicts a baryon to entropy ratio close to the observed value for a large part of the parameter space.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures, Talk given at the 8th International Moscow School of Physic

    Cluster Production in Quark-Hadron Phase Transition

    The problem of cluster formation and growth in first-order quark-hadron phase transition in heavy-ion collisions is considered. Behaving as Brownian particles, the clusters carry out random walks and can encounter one another, leading to coalescence and breakup. A simulation of the process in cellular automaton suggests the possibility of a scaling distribution in the cluster sizes. The experimental determination of the cluster-size distribution is urged as a means to find a clear signature of phase transition.Comment: 12 pages + 1 figure. Report # OITS-517.     Transformation zone location and intraepithelial neoplasia of the cervix uteri.

    We examined the relationship between the frequency of premalignant lesions of the cervix and location of the transformation zone on the cervix among 8758 women as assessed using cervicography. An endo- and exocervical smear test was performed at the same time. Women with smear test classified CIN I or more were recalled and any abnormal area was biopsied under colposcopy. The transformation zone was located on the exocervix in 94% of women younger than 25 years old; as age increased, the proportion of women with a transformation zone located on the exocervix steadily decreased to reach less than 2% after 64 years old. As compared with women having a transformation zone in the endocervical canal, the age-adjusted likelihood of discovering a histologically proven dysplastic lesion was 1.8 times more frequent among women with a transformation zone located on the exocervix (95% confidence interval 1.1-2.9). This higher frequency seemed not attributable to a lower sensitivity of the smear test when the transformation zone was hidden. The results also showed that deliveries tended significantly to maintain the transformation zone on the exocervix. Parity is a known risk factor for cervix cancer, but the mechanism by which it favours malignant lesions remain unknown. Our results suggest that with increasing numbers of livebirths, the transformation zone is directly exposed for longer periods to external agents involved in dysplastic lesions

    Testing the ΔS=ΔQ\Delta S=\Delta Q Rule with Exclusive Semi-Leptonic Kaon Decays

    We consider the possibility of violations of the selection rule ΔS=ΔQ\Delta S=\Delta Q at an appreciable level in {\it exclusive} semi-leptonic decays of Kaons. At Ί\Phi-Factories, intense Kaon beams will be available and will probe among others, the semi-leptonic decays Kl4K_{l4} and Kl3ÎłK_{l3\gamma} in addition to Kl3K_{l3} and could provide novel testing grounds for the ΔS=ΔQ\Delta S=\Delta Q rule. In particular, the branching ratio of Kl3ÎłK_{l3\gamma} is non-negligible and could be used to probe new phenomena associated with the violation of this selection rule. Furthermore, we modify certain di-lepton event rate ratios and asymmetries and time asymmetries that have been constructed by Dass and Sarma for di-lepton events from Beon decays to test the ΔB=ΔQ\Delta B=\Delta Q at the ΄(4S)\Upsilon (4S), to the Kaon system at the ϕ(1020)\phi(1020). We find that the large width of the KSK_S relative to that of KLK_L plays an important role in enhancing some of the time asymmetries.Comment: 10 pages, Plain Latex, To be run twice

    Generating-function method for tensor products

    This is the first of two articles devoted to a exposition of the generating-function method for computing fusion rules in affine Lie algebras. The present paper is entirely devoted to the study of the tensor-product (infinite-level) limit of fusions rules. We start by reviewing Sharp's character method. An alternative approach to the construction of tensor-product generating functions is then presented which overcomes most of the technical difficulties associated with the character method. It is based on the reformulation of the problem of calculating tensor products in terms of the solution of a set of linear and homogeneous Diophantine equations whose elementary solutions represent ``elementary couplings''. Grobner bases provide a tool for generating the complete set of relations between elementary couplings and, most importantly, as an algorithm for specifying a complete, compatible set of ``forbidden couplings''.Comment: Harvmac (b mode : 39 p) and Pictex; this is a substantially reduced version of hep-th/9811113 (with new title); to appear in J.
