Abstract-This report insight the design, fabrication and testing of 2.4 GHz Bandpass Filter developed by using Microstrip Technology. The results acquired through R & D process have been simulated, analyzed and verified by using parallel-coupled lines filter topology, which were later, enhanced by various value-aided software tools such as MATLAB (V 7.0), CorelDraw 12, Microwave Office (2004). For the optimal result, three samples were fabricated with the help of Microwave Office tools. The comparative filter response analyses were carried out with the help of vector network analyzer, which gives the best choice for further analysis and development. Comparative analyses were carried out for the optimization of both experimental and analytical data acquired through the design, simulation, and fabrication and testing process of the bandpass filter. Subsequent results demonstrate, through verification process, that the experimental results (measured) gives more or less same performance compare analytical one (calculated)

This project present a design of a 5.8 GHz low noise amplifier (LNA) design with cascode and cascaded techniques using T-matching network applicable for IEEE 802.16 standard. The amplifier use FHX76LP Low Noise SuperHEMT FET. The LNA designed used T-matching network consisting of lump element reactive element at the input and the output terminal. The cascode and cascaded low noise amplifier (LNA) produced gain of 36.8dB and noise figure (NF) at 1.3dB. The input reflection (S11) and output return loss (S22) are -11.4dB and -12.3dB respectively. The bandwidth of the amplifier is more than 1GHz. The input sensitivity is compliant with the IEEE 802.16 standards.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v1i1.6

Screen-printed ceramic based MEMS piezoelectric cantilever for harvesting energy

    Get PDF
Screen-printing technology provides a convenient method in fabricating thick-film conductive circuits and devices in the past few decades. Conventionally, piezoelectric thick-film is printed on alumina substrate with high mechanical Q-factor and resonates at higher frequency outside the range of ambient vibration. As the piezoelectric charge generation is proportional to the mechanical stress on the material, therefore the substrate can be removed in order to lower the natural frequency of the structure. In this paper, a series of piezoelectric ceramic cantilevers were fabricated in the form of free-standing cantilever. An additional layer of ceramic was also introduced to the upper and lower electrode to prevent delamination. The issue of zero resultant stress for the sandwiched piezoelectric cantilever was solved by repeating the electrode-PZT-electrode layer to form a multilayer structure. It was found from the experiment that an electrical output power of 32 μW was generated when it operates at its resonant frequency at 403 Hz

In-house rose Bengal plate agglutination test (RBPT) for a rapid diagnosis of Brucellosis in goats in Malaysia

    Get PDF
The Rose Bengal Plate Test (RBPT) antigens from Brucella melitensis local isolates (in-house RBPT) were prepared and compared with RBPT antigen for Brucellosis in sheep and goats prepared by Veterinary Laboratory Agency, UK. Eight hundred fifty-six sera samples, of which were collected from goats were examined with the RBPT and Complement Fixation Test (CFT). The RBPT and CFT results showed that the in-house RBPT antigen was superior to the commercial prepared RBPT antigen (VLA, UK). Out of 856 sera analyzed by in-house RBPT, commercial RBPT and CFT, 30.84, 26.40 and 31.65% were found to be Brucella positive, respectively. The sensitivity calculated for the in-house RBPT compared with CFT was 85.24% whilst that of commercial RBPT was 78.59%. Therefore, it was conclude that in-house RBPT antigens could be prepared and used for epidemiological surveillance of Caprine brucellosis in Malaysia

An Enhancement of RTS/CTS Control Handshake in CSMA/CA Based MAC Protocol for an Efficient Packet Delivery over Multihop Wireless Mesh Network (WMN)

    Get PDF
The Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) based Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol uses a short request-to-send (RTS) and clear-to-send (CTS) control packets prior of actual data packet transmission. The function of the CSMA/CA based MAC protocol in wireless communication is to facilitate wireless nodes (i.e. laptop, PC, smart phones and etc) to access a wireless medium efficiently. Besides, it is also efficiently manage the wireless medium when more wireless nodes involving in transmission activity in the network. This protocol allows all wireless nodes in the network to communicate between each other without collision. Since collisions may only occurred on the RTS control packets thus it can reduce the actual data collision on the medium. The RTS/CTS control handshake provides better performance and reduce the duration of collision especially when long data packets are transmitted over wireless medium. However, even though the CSMA/CA based MAC protocol working effectively and provides better throughput performance over single hop communication but it performance degrade significantly when directly applied in multihop Wireless Mesh Network (WMN). The reason behind this poor performance is due to the inefficient packet delivery of CSMA/CA based MAC protocol in multihop network. The exchange of RTS and CTS signaling that required at each hop throughout the multihop network eventually will cause the large overheads and subsequently degrade network throughput. Therefore, in this paper, an enhancement of RTS/CTS handshake has been proposed in order reduces the signaling overheads and ultimately allows a smooth packet delivery in the multihop network without any collision. In this work, the multihop network performances are evaluated analytically in terms of throughput and overhead. It is proven that the new method of RTS/CTS handshake provides significant improvement in throughput and overhead
