Proof-theoretic Analysis of Rationality for Strategic Games with Arbitrary Strategy Sets
In the context of strategic games, we provide an axiomatic proof of the
statement Common knowledge of rationality implies that the players will choose
only strategies that survive the iterated elimination of strictly dominated
strategies. Rationality here means playing only strategies one believes to be
best responses. This involves looking at two formal languages. One is
first-order, and is used to formalise optimality conditions, like avoiding
strictly dominated strategies, or playing a best response. The other is a modal
fixpoint language with expressions for optimality, rationality and belief.
Fixpoints are used to form expressions for common belief and for iterated

H-mode pedestal characteristics in ITER shape discharges on DIII-D
Characteristics of the H-mode pedestal are studied in Type 1 ELM discharges with ITER cross-sectional shape and aspect ratio. The scaling of the width of the edge step gradient region, {delta}, which is most consistent with the data is with the normalized edge pressure, ({beta}{sub POL}{sup PED}){sup 0.4}. Fits of {delta} to a function of temperature, such as {rho}{sub POL}, are ruled out in divertor pumping experiments. The edge pressure gradient is found to scale as would be expected from infinite n ballooning mode theory; however, the value of the pressure gradient exceeds the calculated first stable limit by more than a factor of 2 in some discharges. This high edge pressure gradient is consistent with access to the second stable regime for ideal ballooning for surfaces near the edge. In lower q discharges, including discharges at the ITER value of q, edge second stability requires significant edge current density. Transport simulations give edge bootstrap current of sufficient magnitude to open second stable access in these discharges. Ideal kink analysis using current density profiles including edge bootstrap current indicate that before the ELM these discharges may be unstable to low n, edge localized modes
Alpha scattering and capture reactions in the A = 7 system at low energies
Differential cross sections for He- scattering were measured in
the energy range up to 3 MeV. These data together with other available
experimental results for He and H scattering were
analyzed in the framework of the optical model using double-folded potentials.
The optical potentials obtained were used to calculate the astrophysical
S-factors of the capture reactions HeBe and
HLi, and the branching ratios for the transitions into
the two final Be and Li bound states, respectively. For
HeBe excellent agreement between calculated and
experimental data is obtained. For HLi a value
has been found which is a factor of about 1.5 larger than the adopted value.
For both capture reactions a similar branching ratio of has been obtained.Comment: submitted to Phys.Rev.C, 34 pages, figures available from one of the

Calculating Quenching Weights
We calculate the probability (``quenching weight'') that a hard parton
radiates an additional energy fraction due to scattering in spatially extended
QCD matter. This study is based on an exact treatment of finite in-medium path
length, it includes the case of a dynamically expanding medium, and it extends
to the angular dependence of the medium-induced gluon radiation pattern. All
calculations are done in the multiple soft scattering approximation
(Baier-Dokshitzer-Mueller-Peign\'e-Schiff--Zakharov ``BDMPS-Z''-formalism) and
in the single hard scattering approximation (N=1 opacity approximation). By
comparison, we establish a simple relation between transport coefficient, Debye
screening mass and opacity, for which both approximations lead to comparable
results. Together with this paper, a CPU-inexpensive numerical subroutine for
calculating quenching weights is provided electronically. To illustrate its
applications, we discuss the suppression of hadronic transverse momentum
spectra in nucleus-nucleus collisions. Remarkably, the kinematic constraint
resulting from finite in-medium path length reduces significantly the
transverse momentum dependence of the nuclear modification factor, thus leading
to consistency with the data measured at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider

D-concurrence bounds for pair coherent states
The pair coherent state is a state of a two-mode radiation field which is
known as a state with non-Gaussian wave function. In this paper, the upper and
lower bounds for D-concurrence (a new entanglement measure) have been studied

Energy Loss versus Shadowing in the Drell-Yan Reaction on Nuclei
We present a new analysis of the E772 and E866 experiments on the nuclear
dependence of Drell-Yan (DY) lepton pair production resulting from the
bombardment of , Be, C, Ca, Fe, and W targets by 800 GeV/c protons at
Fermilab. We employ a light-cone formulation of the DY reaction in the rest
frame of the nucleus, where the dimuons detected at small values of Bjorken x_2
<< 1 may be considered to originate from the decay of a heavy photon radiated
from an incident quark in a bremsstrahlung process. We infer the energy loss of
the quark by examining the suppression of the nuclear-dependent DY ratios seen
as a function of projectile momentum fraction x_1 and dimuon mass M. Shadowing,
which also leads to nuclear suppression of dimuons, is calculated within the
same approach employing the results of phenomenological fits to deep inelastic
scattering data from HERA. The analysis yields -dE/dz =2.73 +/- 0.37 +/- 0.5
GeV/fm for the rate of quark energy loss per unit path length, a value
consistent with theoretical expectations including the effects of the inelastic
interaction of the incident proton at the surface of the nucleus. This is the
