Het doel van dit rapport is een overzicht te geven van de kosten die jaarlijks worden uitgegeven om de aantasting van het milieu in het Nederlandse deel van de Noordzee te voorkomen. Dit overzicht kan wor# den gebruikt als indicatie voor de ondergrens van de werkelijke aan de aantasting van het mariene milieu verbonden kosten. Daarnaast geeft dit rapport inzicht in het type maatregelen en wie de kosten hiervan dragen. De uitkomsten van dit rapport kunnen zowel dienen als basis voor een kosteneffectiviteitsstudie, als voor het bepalen van de betaalbaarheid en/of de disproportionaliteit van kosten voor toekomstige Kaderrichtlijn Mariene Strategie (KRM) maatregele

Economische effecten natuurcompensatie Tweede Maasvlakte op de visserijsector

In deze studie zijn de privaat economische effecten van de aanleg van de Maasvlakte II en de bijkomende natuurcompensatie in een deel van de Voordelta geschat voor de visserijsector. In de analyse zijn zowel de visserij als de handel en verwerkende industrie en de toeleverende bedrijven meegenomen. De effecten zijn bepaald aan de hand van informatie over de visserijactiviteiten over de periode 2005-2007, voor het geval de visserijactiviteiten moeten worden verplaatst of beëindigd. Op basis van de afhankelijkheid van de verschillende typen visserijen van de gebieden in kwestie wordt een schatting gemaakt van het totale effect van de maatregelen.This study assesses the private-economic effects of the construction of Maasvlakte II and the related ecological compensation to the fishing sector in part of the Voordelta. The analysis reviews the effects on the fishing industry, the fish trade and the fish-processing and supply industries. The effects of the relocation or termination of fishing operations are determined on the basis of information about fishing operations during the period 2005-2007. An estimateof the total effect of the measures is made on the basis of the dependency of the various fishing subsectors on these areas

Economische effecten van de MZI's op de visserijsector

Om de druk op het natuurlijke systeem in de Waddenzee te verminderen moet de mosselsector komen tot geleidelijke overgang van mosselzaadvisserij naar het invangen van zaad met mosselzaadinvanginstallaties (MZI's). Hiervoor zijn een aantal locaties vastgesteld. Dit rapport geeft inzicht in: (1) de negatieve economische effecten van plaatsing van MZI's op de aangewezen locaties voor andere vormen van visserij, (2) de verwachte totale omvang van de investeringen in MZI's in de Waddenzee en de Oosterschelde,(3) de positieve effecten van de aanleg en exploitatie van MZI's voor de economie in de regio,(4) de economische effecten voor de mosselsector. With the aim of reducing the negative effects of mussel seed capture on the ecosystem of the Dutch Wadden Sea, the Dutch mussel industry needs to gradually switch to the collection of mussel seed through mussel seed capture installations (MZIs). The objective of this study is to describe: (1) the negative economic effects of mussel seed capture installations on other fishing activities as a consequence of the loss of fishing grounds, (2) the expected total investments in mussel seed capture installations in the Wadden Sea and the Eastern Scheldt, (3) the positive effects of creating and using mussel seed capture installations on the regional economy and (4) the economic consequences for the mussel industry

Evaluatie steekproef visserij

In order to comply with EU regulation 1639/2001, the quality of the estimates of economic key-variables from the Dutch cutter fleet should be assessed. This report assesses the quality of the voluntary panel of fishing firms (involved in cutter fishery), and assesses the wishes from main users (ministry, fisheries sector and research) with respect to the collection of economic data in the future. This information is used to adjust the data collection and the design of the panel to future developments and information requirement

Linking catchability and fisher behaviour under effort management

Catchability is crucial for the economic performance of fisheries and their management. However, in many bio-economic simulation models it is assumed to be either constant or it is largely ignored, despite the fact that it is known to vary due to technical, environmental and behavioral factors. Such variation can cause the relationship between effort and fishing mortality to be nonlinear. This paper provides evidence for the possibility of nonlinear optimizing behavior from the Dutch beam trawl fishery, provides a methodology for estimating the curvature of the resulting relation, and a simple way of implementing these processes within a bio-economic model. Moreover, it shows the influence of a nonlinear relationship between effort and fishing mortality in a model of effort management (EU long-term flatfish management plan)

Bodemberoerende visserij op de Noordzee; Huidige situatie, recente ontwikkelingen en toekomstscenario’s

De toekomst van de bodemberoerende visserij laat zich lastig voorspellen vanwege het grote aantal ontwikkelingen die op de visserij afkomen. Deze zijn zowel beleidsmatig van aard (bijvoorbeeld de discard ban) maar gaan ook over zaken als ontwikkeling van de visbestanden, technische veranderingen, marktontwikkelingen, brandstofprijzen en overige mariene ontwikkelingen. In dit rapport zijn de mogelijke effecten van deze ontwikkelingen voor de bodemberoerende visserij zo goed als mogelijk in kaart gebracht
