    Supervisory Support, Organizational Justice and Perceived Organizational Support: A Review and Research Agenda

    Past studies have confirmed the relationship between organizational justice and supervisory support with perceived organizational support. However, there is lack of research study conducted on examining the relationship of these two dimensions specifically on the academic staff in Malaysian universities. Furthermore, some researchers also found that organizational support and supervisory support are strongly related to perceived organizational support. Hence, the purpose of this conceptual paper is to provide a review and an examination on the relationship of organizational justice and supervisory support on perceived organizational support among academic staff in Malaysian universities. Conceptual framework and hypotheses have been formulated. The target population is academic staff of Malaysian universities. A simple statistical analysis has been conducted such as reliability analysis and descriptive analysis

    PSYCHOLOGICAL EMPOWERMENT AND ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT IN THE MALAYSIAN PRIVATE HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS: A REVIEW AND RESEARCH AGENDA

    The main purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between psychological empowerment and organizational commitment of academics in Malaysian Private Universities. The research is aim to appraise the existing literatures and eventually set the research agenda. Past studies revealed that there are relationships between the four cognitions of psychological empowerment: meaning, self-determination, competence and impact cognitions with organizational commitment. Furthermore, the extant literature also encapsulates the relationships between psychological empowerment and the three dimensions of organizational commitment: affective, normative and continuance commitment. However, results from the existing literatures are shown to be inconsistent. The paper concludes with suggestions for educational leaders to focus on enhancing psychological empowerment of impact, meaning and competence cognitions in order to increase academic staff commitment within an organization.     Travel Intentions among Foreign Tourists for Medical Treatment in Malaysia: An Empirical Study

    AbstractThis study essentially attempts to discover the underlying factors that might affect the foreign tourists’ intention to obtain medical treatment in Malaysia. The applicability of Theory of Planned Behaviour model provides the possibility to investigate the foreign tourists’ intention and to measure tourists’ general antecedent attitudes and feelings towards travelling abroad to seek medical treatment. The quantitative research approach has been used to conduct this study. A survey was carried out at four locations nationwide (Northern Region, Central Region, Southern Region and Eastern Region). The first generation technique was used to test and estimate the complex relationship among the variables. The proposed research model is expected to contribute to an understanding for scholars, marketers, policy makers, and practitioners on how these medical tourists formulate their intention to travel to Malaysia as a medical travel destination in order to increase the inbound market in medical tourism. This adds another contribution to the literature in the medical tourism field, reshaping the definition of medical tourism and having a more inclusive view in medical treatment highlighting the conceptual value of this study. Based on the analysis result, it can be confirmed that only attitude and subjective norm significantly influence the intention to visit for medical treatment in Malaysia, but is not significant for perceived control behaviour. The study concluded with several recommendations and insights that are useful to relevant parties such as Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Ministry of Health, Policy Maker, Public and Private Hospital Management teams as well as Travel Agencies or Companies

    Job Satisfaction of Malaysian Nurses: A Causal Model

    Turnover intention is a challenging issue for most of the developed and developing countries. Past studies revealed that there were two common approaches to enhance nurses’ retention. The first approach is focus on recruitment and selection activities as well as establishes more schools and colleges of nursing that will produce more nursing graduate. The second approach is to attract and retain more dedicated and quality professional nursing staff. Substantial studies have confirmed that job satisfaction as a major predictor of turnover intention. Therefore, this paper is mainly focus on identifying significant predictors of job satisfaction which will subsequently reduce turnover intention among staff nurses in Malaysia healthcare industry

    IMPACT OF MANAGEMENT PRACTICES ON ORGANISATIONAL INNOVATION IN THE DIGITAL AGE: A STUDY OF THE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY IN MALAYSIA

    The manufacturing industry is an indispensable part of the economy, especially for Malaysia. The manufacturing sector in Malaysia is not only transforming raw material into products, but also contributing significantly to the country’s economy. Malaysia has attained a significant position in the world by exporting its manufactured goods. However, the production services always require innovation to meet the ever-changing customer demands. With the advent of Industry 4.0, the manufacturing industry faces constant challenges such as the innovation capability of organizations, and swift and frequent shifts in the use of technology. These issues may hamper the efforts of manufacturing firms to fully participate in Industry 4.0 Malaysia. Therefore, the objective of this study is to identify the influence of knowledge-oriented leadership, electronic human resource management (E-HRM), and decentralised organisational structure on organizational innovation. The current research has adopted a quantitative method to establish the relationship between these three variables and innovation in organizations. A total of 218 samples were collected from manufacturing firms located in Malaysia. Data collected through a self-administered questionnaire was examined by using SmartPLS software. The results of this research has added to the body of knowledge in the respective field by highlighting the significance of knowledge-oriented leadership and E-HRM in predicting organizational innovation. It can further help stakeholders to plan a way forward in facing Industry 4.0 through the development of innovation competencies

    The manufacturing sector of Malaysia is an essential part of its economic system. Malaysia holds a remarkable position in the global market through the exports of manufacturing products. However, this sector faces challenges such as organizational capability to innovate due to rapid technological and business environment changes in line with Industry 4.0. These challenges may prevent manufacturing firms from embracing Industry 4.0 and thriving in their businesses. Therefore, this research aims to identify the role of organizational practices such as knowledge-oriented leadership, electronic human resource management, and decentralized organization structure in support of organization innovation to prepare manufacturing firms for Industry 4.0. A quantitative method was applied to 218 samples collected from Malaysian manufacturing firms. The results of this research are interesting for keen researchers and helpful for decision-makers and practitioners to successfully pave the way for Industry 4.0 implementation in manufacturing firms by developing innovation capabilities.</p

    Green Work Climate and Pro-Environmental Behaviour Among Academics: The Mediating Role of Harmonious Environmental Passion

    Environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, deforestation, and the loss of biodiversity are the concerns of society in different parts of the world today. As human activities have adverse impacts on the environment, developing pro-environmental behaviour in each individual is an essential aspect of protecting mother earth. The primary purpose of this research is to evaluate the influence of green work climate perceptions and harmonious environmental passion on pro-environmental behaviour (PEB). Additionally, the mediating effect of harmonious environmental passion between green work climate and PEB is determined. A total of 167 academics from a private university in Malaysia participated in this study. The results from Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling suggested that green work climate and harmonious environmental passion positively influence PEB. Apart from this, harmonious environmental passion partially mediates the relationship between green work climate and PEB. The results indicate that leaders should actively shape the perception of green work climate within their organisations through policies and procedures that support environmental sustainability efforts, as well as effectively communicate with their employees. Such efforts will lead to greater harmonious environmental passion, in turn, promoting pro-environmental behaviour among members

    Occupational Safety &amp; Health Management and Corporate Sustainability: The Mediating Role of Affective Commitment

    Background: Occupational safety &amp; health management (OSH) has garnered greater attention for its significance in promoting corporate sustainability for organizations in recent decades. The construction industry, in particular, is a major contributor to Malaysia's thirst for corporate sustainability in order to provide long-term support for the country. Thus, the main tenet of this study is to examine the mediating effect of employee affective commitment on the relationship between OSH and corporate sustainability. Methods: A questionnaire was administered to 273 full-time employees of listed construction companies in Malaysia. Smart PLS software version 3 was used to test the proposed model and hypotheses. Both the measurement model and the structural model were evaluated. Results: According to the findings, OSH and its dimensions are positively related to employee affective commitment. Employee affective commitment, on the other hand, has been found to be significantly related to corporate sustainability and its dimensions: economic, social, and environmental sustainability. Apart from this, the prominent results reveal that employee affective commitment partially mediates the relationship between OSH and corporate sustainability and its dimensions: economic, social, and environmental sustainability. Conclusion: This empirical finding adds to the existing literature in explaining how OSH and affective commitment led to corporate sustainability. Several implications are offered to various stakeholders, such as construction companies, policymakers, and relevant regulators

    Conceptual study on Malaysian male consumption behaviour towards skin care products

    The emergence of metrosexual trend in the recent decades, growing awareness and concerns of self-image or external appearance in male populations nowadays have not only created impetus for researchers to explore more in this new research segment, but attentions have also garnered over those companies which engaging themselves in the production of personal grooming, cosmetics and skin care products toward this blooming niche market. Hence, the primary purpose of this study is to implement a conceptual review in assessing the factors that predict Malaysian male consumption behaviour in purchasing skin care products. There are limited studies found in Malaysia context which focused in men's consumption behaviour towards skin care products thus far, therefore the findings able to deliver new knowledge and insights for fellow researchers and marketing practitioners as well. Besides, the prominent findings could also provide brand new views or angles for related companies to formulate their marketing strategies effectively and strategically to well serve this lucrative niche market
