    No full text
Setting the Italian trans-avantgarde within the artistic, political and cultural context of the 1970s - which he opposes to the 1960s' "linguistic Darwinism" and "respectful evolutionism" -, Bonito Oliva underlines its nomadic and subjective character (respectively: the absence of fixed references, the freedom of languages and styles, and the structures of autobiography). The author briefly evokes the work of the movement's five main figures, stressing on their use of drawing and their oscillation between tragedy and comedy, figuration and abstraction. Includes the artists' answers to a questionnaire by the author. Text in English, Italian and French. Biographical notes on artist and author
