Tau Now
UHECR and UHE neutrino map correlation seem to most inconclusive. We show
here that a few peculiar UHECR narrow clustering might be connected to a first
UHE muon neutrino tracks. Moreover we discuss the best filtered and amplified
UHE neutrino astronomy painted by up-going tau airshower. Their discover by new

Could GRB170817A be really correlated to a NS-NS merging?
The exciting development of gravitational wave (GW) astronomy in the
correlation of LIGO and VIRGO detection of GW signals makes possible to expect
registration of effects of not only Binary Black Hole (BH) coalescence, but
also Binary Neutron Star (NS) merging accompanied by electromagnetic (GRB)
signal. Here we consider the possibility that a Neutron Star (NS), merging in a
NS-NS or NS-BH system might be (soon) observed in correlation with any
LIGO-VIRGO Gravitational Waves detection. We analyze as an example the recent
case of the short GRB 170817A observed by Fermi and Integral. The associated
Optical transient OT source in NGC4993 imply a rare near source, a consequent
averaged large rate of such events (almost) compatible with expected NS NS
merging rate. However the expected beamed GRB (or Short GRB) may be mostly
aligned to a different direction than our. Therefore even soft GRB photons,
more spread than hard ones, might be hardly able to shower to us. Nevertheless
a prompt spiraling electron turbine jet in largest magnetic fields, at the base
of the NS-NS collapse, might shine by its tangential synchrotron radiation in
spread way with its skimming photons shining in large open disk. The consequent
solid angle for such soft disk gamma radiation may be large enough to be
nevertheless often observed.Comment: 12 pages, 12 figure
UHECR narrow clustering correlating IceCube through-going muons
The recent UHECR events by AUGER and the Telescope Array (TA) suggested that
wide clusterings as the North and South, named Hot Spot, are related to near
AGNs such as the one in M82 and Cen A. In the same frame since 2008 we assumed
that the UHECR are made by light and lightest nuclei to explain the otherwise
embarrassing absence of the huge nearby Virgo cluster, absence due to the
fragility and the opacity of lightest nuclei by photo-dissociation from Virgo
distances. Moreover UHECR map exhibits a few narrow clustering, some near the
galactic plane, as toward SS 433 and on the opposite side of the plane at
celestial horizons: we tagged them in 2014 suggesting possible near source
active also as a UHE neutrino. Indeed since last year, 2015, highest IceCube
trough-going muons, UHE up-going neutrino events at hundreds TeV energy, did
show (by two cases over three tagged in North sky) the expected overlapping of
UHE neutrinos signals with narrow crowding UHECR. New data with higher energy
threshold somehow re-confirmed our preliminary proposal; new possible sources
appear by a additional correlated UHE-neutrino versus UHE-neutrino and-or with
narrow UHECR clustering events. A possible role of relic neutrino mass
scattering by ZeV neutrino arised.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure
Characterization of CRISPR-Cas Systems in Serratia marcescens Isolated from Rhynchophorus ferrugineus (Olivier, 1790) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae)
The CRISPR-Cas adaptive immune system has been attracting increasing scientific interest for biological functions and biotechnological applications. Data on the Serratia marcescens system are scarce. Here, we report a comprehensive characterisation of CRISPR-Cas systems identified in S. marcescens strains isolated as secondary symbionts of Rhynchophorus ferrugineus, also known as Red Palm Weevil (RPW), one of the most invasive pests of major cultivated palms. Whole genome sequencing was performed on four strains (S1, S5, S8, and S13), which were isolated from the reproductive apparatus of RPWs. Subtypes I-F and I-E were harboured by S5 and S8, respectively. No CRISPR-Cas system was detected in Si or S13. Two CRISPR arrays (4 and 51 spacers) were detected in S5 and three arrays (11, 31, and 30 spacers) were detected in S8. The CRISPR-Cas systems were located in the genomic region spanning from ybhR to phnP, as if this were the only region where CRISPR-Cas loci were acquired. This was confirmed by analyzing the S. marcescens complete genomes available in the NCBI database. This region defines a genomic hotspot for horizontally acquired genes and/or CRISPR-Cas systems. This study also supplies the first identification of subtype I-E in S. marcescens
Identification of pigmented Serratia marcescens symbiotically associated with Rhynchophorus ferrugineus Olivier (Coleoptera: Curculionidae)
To characterize red pigment-producing bacteria (RPPB) regularly released during oviposition by red palm weevil (RPW), RPPB were recovered from eggs deposited in apples supplied as substrate for oviposition. The presence of RPPB was also detected from gut, the reproductive apparatus of dissected adult and virgin insects and from pupal cases collected within infested palms. RPPB were also identified all along the tissue of these palms. Analysis of the 16S rDNA, gyrB, rpoB, recA, and groEL sequences assigned RPPB to the species Serratia marcescens. RPPB exhibited an antimicrobial activity assessed by the agar well diffusion method against a number of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. In this study, we first report the identification of a red pigment-producing S. marcescens as extracellular symbiont of RPW. Route of transmission, detection within different organs, and a wide spread along the infested palm tissue, suggested S. marcescens is present as extracellular symbiont in different developmental stages of the RPW. Additionally, the antimicrobial activity exhibited versus Bacillus spp., Paenibacillus spp., and Lysinibacillus spp., reported as insect pathogens and potential candidates for biocontrol agents, could ascribe for S. marcescens a potential protective role
Achilles Tendon Rupture and Dysmetabolic Diseases: A Multicentric, Epidemiologic Study.
Introduction: Achilles tendon ruptures are common. Metabolic disorders, such as diabetes mellitus, hypercholesterolemia, thyroid disorders, and obesity, impair tendons health, leading to Achilles tendinopathy and likely predisposing patients to Achilles tendon ruptures. Materials and methods: Patients who visited the Orthopedic Outpatient Clinics and the Accident and Emergency Departments of five different hospitals in Italy were recruited. Through telephone interviews, we administered a questionnaire to all the patients who had undergone surgical ATR repair, evaluating their past medical history, sport- and work-related activities, drug use, and post-operative rehabilitation outcomes. Results: "Return to work activities/sport" was negatively predicted by the presence of a metabolic disorder (beta = -0.451; OR = 0.637) and 'open' surgery technique (beta = -0.389; OR = 0.678). "Medical complications" were significantly predicted by metabolic disorders (beta = 0.600 (0.198); OR = 1.822) and was negatively related to 'mini-invasive' surgery (i.e., not 'open' nor 'percutaneous') (beta = -0.621; OR = 0.537). "Immediate weightbearing" and "immediate walking without assistance" were negatively predicted by 'open' technique (beta = -0.691; OR = 0.501 and beta = -0.359 (0.174; OR = 0.698)). Conclusions: Metabolic conditions can strongly affect post-operative outcomes following surgical repair of acute Achilles tendon tears
