The roles of a pastorâs wife in the post-COVID 19 pandemic era in reference to Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) and the Salvation Army, Nigeria
The status of a pastorâs wife is an honourable position with huge responsibility. She holds a unique
role in advising, encouraging, and cautioning the man who bears the responsibility of leading the
church. Yet, the pastorâs wife is an often neglected discourse both in the academic and ministerial
spaces. Churches like the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) adumbrate the role of the
pastorâs wife both in liturgy and operations. There is a paucity of literature on the personality and
role of a pastorâs wife. Nevertheless, the COVID-19 pandemic has made the role of the pastorâs
wife more cumbersome. Church life has not remained the same since the emergence of the
COVID-19 pandemic and the eventual lockdown laws on social, public, and religious
convergence. This study sought to determine the role that a pastorâs wife plays alongside her
husband in the ministry. A descriptive approach was adopted as the basic methodology for this
study with the research tool of structured interviews. The role of women in the early church is also
briefly reconnoitred in order to demonstrate that women have a very important in a church,
including the wives of ministers and preachers. The study recommended that churches like ECWA
should give due attention to the status and role of pastorsâ wives in their traditions and liturgy.
Also, ECWA, like Salvation Army, should prepare and organize ongoing educational programmes
to equip and empower pastorsâ wives for optimum performance and fruitful results in church
ministries. Likewise, pastorsâ wives are enjoined to rise to their calling by giving necessary support
to their spouses at home, church, and community spaces.https://www.pharosjot.comhj2024New Testament StudiesNon
The disposition of Christians to political governance in Nigeria in relation to Romans 12:14 - 13:10
There have been controversies about Christiansâ disposition towards political leadership or
civil authorities. The Apostle Paul (Romans 12:14-13:1-10) instructs Christians to submit to
political authorities; given that certain Christians had shunned all restraint because of their
heavenly calling and lost respect for earthly authorities. The burden of this study is the
appropriate attitude required from adherents of Christianity towards unfair, ungodly, and
despotic leaders. Christians are facing high-level of opposition and marginalization in Nigeria
especially in recent times. For instance, most scholars usually treat Romans 13:1-10 thus
neglecting Romans 12:14-21. Whereas Romans 12:14-21 is the preceding part of Romans
13:1-10. Therefore, the study employed a historical-critical reading of Romans 12:14-13:10 as
a composite unit and its applicability to Christiansâ socio-political responsibilities in Nigeria.
Primary data is elicited from the Bible with the aid of exegetical tools, while secondary data
were sourced from works referencing the selected biblical text and on political governance in
Nigeria. Data was content-analysed within the ambit of a phenomenological approach
whereby attention is placed on Christiansâ disposition towards political leaders and civil
authorities. Political obligation theory has been found appropriate and deployed for this study.
Hence, the paper recommends that Christians should avoid contemptuous or indifferent
disposition to civil authorities and political leaders. Christians occupying political offices should
enliven their Christian virtues amidst persecution and repression.https://www.pharosjot.comhj2024New Testament StudiesSDG-16:Peace,justice and strong institution
Metastatic choriocarcinoma presenting as advanced renal cell carcinoma: A case report
Choriocarcinoma is an aggressive tumour arising as a malignant transformation of the gestational trophoblastic disease or rarely from the germ cells in the ovary and from testicular mixed germ cell tumour. Renal involvement due to Choriocarcinoma is rare we report here one of such rare cases. A 26yr old woman presented with painful right sided loin swelling with painless total haematuria of 3weeks duration .Abdominal Ultrasound and CT scan showed a solid Right kidney mass with a cystic component. She had right radical nephrectomy.Histopathological examination revealed metastatic choriocarcinoma. The challenges we faced in her management is highlightedand a brief review of literature on the subject is presented
Perceived barriers towards healthy eating and their association with fruit and vegetable consumption

Production and Storage of Cassava Chips for Reconversion into Gari
Cassava chips (7% moisture level) produced from cassava root (IITA 94/0561) was stored for 6 months in high density polyethylene bag. Stored chips were coarse milled, rehydrated to 62.51% and seeded with fresh cassava mash (FCM) at levels of 5%, 10% and 20%. The resulting mash was fermented for 72 hr, with pH monitored every 24 hr, and processed to gari. Yield and swelling capacity of gari were determined. Sensory evaluation was carried out on water soaked gari and gari paste (âebaâ). While least values for pH was obtained in FCM throughout the fermentation period, there was reduction in values in all samples with increase in fermentation time from 30.01 to 33.40%. Yield of gari from the seeded chips ranged from 64.4-72.3%, while that of FCM was 18.7%. Swelling capacity of gari ranged from 2.0 - 3.0 in FCM and that seeded with 20% FCM, respectively. Sensory evaluation result revealed that gari produced from cassava chips seeded at 10% level is adequate for making âebaâ while that seeded at 5% level is adequate for consumption as soaked gari (p<0.05). Use of stored cassava chips with 10% FCM for gari production could be encouraged to reduce postharvest problem of cassava roots and the drudgery of gari processing. Influence of Age on Perception of Midwives and Their Performance in Objective Structured Clincial Examination (Osce) in Nigeria
Objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) is a means of assessing clinical competence based on objective testing through direct observation. OSCE, as a method of evaluation, was introduced in 1990 by the Nursing & Midwifery council of Nigeria (N&MCN). The aim of this quantitative study is to ascertain if age has any influence on midwivesâ perception of OSCE and their performance in the examination. Ex-post facto design was adopted for this study. That is because the independent variable was studied in retrospect in order to establish possible relationship with the dependent variables. We were concerned with ascertaining and establishing the status quo and facts at the time of the research and used such facts to analyze data, interpret and extrapolate and also draw inferences. Eight institutions of midwifery education in Akwa Ibom and Cross River states of Nigeria were used for this study. 502 out of 532 midwives who graduated from the institutions between 2004 to 2006 participated in the study. Two validated instruments were used for data collection namely: OSCE stake holderâs questionnaire and achievement test on OSCE. The reliability index for perception stood at (r) 0.60 while the index performance stood at (r) 0.66.Data were analyzed using linear regression analysis and one way analysis of variance. Findings show that older midwives had significant higher perception of OSCE than the younger midwives. Conclusion: age has significant influence on midwivesâ perception of OSCE but perception has no influence on their performance in OSCE
