Effect of Blending and Storage Conditions on the Microbial Quality and Sensory Characteristics of Soy-Tiger Nut Milk Beverage
Effect of blending and storage conditions on soy-tigernut milk beverage was carried out. Samples of milk analogue were developed using varying proportions of soymilk and tigernut extracts. Five blends of soy-tigernut milk was formulated using varying proportion of tigernut milk extract (10, 20, 50, 80 and 90%) with soy milk. Two control samples were produced (100% milk of soy bean and tigernut respectively). Soy-tigernut milk beverage blends were subjected to sensory evaluation using 9-point hedonic scale. Two blends of the milk beverage having the highest mean score on general acceptability was subjected to three storage conditions (ambient, refrigeration and freezing conditions) for four weeks. Significant difference (P<0.05) was discovered on the sensory attributes of the soy-tigernut beverage blends evaluated. Samples contained 80% and 90% tigernut milk substitution had mean score of 7.47 and 8.67 respectively were the most preferred blends. The highest value of total aerobic plate count and coliform under a different storage conditions at fourth week of storage was below 106cfu/ml and 10cfu/ml safety limit stipulated by Food and Drug Administration regulation for aerobic plat count and caliform bacteria in food respectively. Thermal Properties of Deng-Fan-Eckart Potential model using Poisson Summation Approach
The Deng-Fan-Eckart (DFE) potential is as good as the Morse potential in
studying atomic interaction in diatomic molecules. By using the improved
Pekeris-type approximation, to deal with the centrifugal term, we obtain the
bound-state solutions of the radial Schr\"odinger equation with this adopted
molecular model via the Factorization Method. With the energy equation
obtained, the thermodynamic properties of some selected diatomic molecules(H2 ,
CO , and ScN ) were obtained using Poisson summation method.. The unnormalized
wave function is also derived. The energy spectrum for a set of diatomic
molecules for different values of the vibrational n and rotational l are
obtained. To show the accuracy of our results, we discuss some special cases by
adjusting some potential parameters and also compute the numerical eigenvalue
of the Deng-Fan potential for comparison sake. However, it was found out that
our results agree excellently with the results obtained via other methods.Comment: 29 pages, 18 figures, 4 tables, 4902 word
Quantum flux effects on the energy spectra and thermo-magnetic properties in 2D Schrodinger equation with Mobius square potential
A 2D Schrodinger equation with interacting Mobius square potential model is
solved using Nikiforov-Uvarov Functional Analysis (NUFA) formalism. The energy
spectra and the corresponding wave function for the linearly and exponentially
varying quantum magnetic flux are obtained analytically in a closed form. The
evaluated energy spectra are used to obtain an expression for the partition
functions for the two cases comprises of the linearly and exponentially varying
quantum magnetic flux and vis-a-vis is use to evaluate other thermodynamic and
magnetic properties for the system. The results are used to study the free
energy, mean energy, the entropy, specific heat, magnetization, magnetic
susceptibility and the persistent current of the system. The numerical bound
state energies are computed.Comment: 39 Pages, 64 figure
Assessment of health communication practice on hepatitis B in Southwest Nigeria
In line with the Sustainable Development Goal 3:3 of ending the epidemic
of hepatitis by year 2030, there is a global call for strategic information to understand
viral hepatitis. Existing studies on hepatitis B virus (HBV) in Nigeria have
primarily focused on health practitioners and their patients, to the neglect of
detailed empirical data on health communication practice, especially as it relates to
semi-urban and urban demographic information. The study set to find out the
communication strategies employed by government and non-government organisations
working on HBV, as well as the preferred health communication channels for
hepatitis B by semi-urban and urban residents. The study adopted a mixed method.
The qualitative method assessed the communication strategies employed by government
and non-government health-related agencies in informing people on HBV
in Nigeria while, the survey examined the preferred health communication channels
for HBV management among 582 semi-urban and urban residents in Lagos, Oyo,
and Ogun States, Southwest Nigeria. Bivariate analyses were performed on demographic
variables and preferred health communication channels for HBV by states.
This study found that government agencies and non-government organisations
working on hepatitis B predominantly make use of interpersonal communication in
getting the people informed of HBV. Also, residents of Southwest Nigeria (elderly, 71.4% (Lagos), married couples, 53.7% (Ogun)) preferred the internet as a health
communication source for hepatitis B information as against traditional means of
television, radio and print platforms
