Mystical orientation and psychological health: a study among university students in Turkey
This study examines the association between mystical experience, as captured by the Francis–Louden Mystical Orientation Scale, and psychological health, as captured by the Eysenckian three-dimensional model of personality, among 329 students attending a state university in Turkey. The data reported no significant association between mystical orientation and psychoticism scores, and a small but significant positive association between mystical orientation and neuroticism scores, after controlling for sex differences. This finding suggests that there may be a small inverse association between mystical experience and psychological health among students in Turkey
Notes on the post-bounce background dynamics in bouncing cosmologies
We investigate the post-bounce background dynamics in a certain class of
single bounce scenarios studied in the literature, in which the cosmic bounce
is driven by a scalar field with negative exponential potential such as the
ekpyrotic potential. We show that those models can actually lead to cyclic
evolutions with repeated bounces. These cyclic evolutions, however, do not
account for the currently observed late-time accelerated expansion and hence
are not cosmologically viable. In this respect we consider a new kind of cyclic

Cloning and sequence analysis of cDNAs encoding the cytosolic precursors of subunits GapA and GapB of chloroplast glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase from pea and spinach
Chloroplast glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) is composed of two different subunits, GapA and GapB. cDNA clones containing the entire coding sequences of the cytosolic precursors for GapA from pea and for GapB from pea and spinach have been identified, sequenced and the derived amino acid sequences have been compared to the corresponding sequences from tobacco, maize and mustard. These comparisons show that GapB differs from GapA in about 20% of its amino acid residues and by the presence of a flexible and negatively charged C-terminal extension, possibly responsible for the observed association of the enzyme with chloroplast envelopes in vitro. This C-terminal extension (29 or 30 residues) may be susceptible to proteolytic cleavage thereby leading to a conversion of chloroplast GAPDH isoenzyme I into isoenzyme II. Evolutionary rate comparisons at the amino acid sequence level show that chloroplast GapA and GapB evolve roughly two-fold slower than their cytosolic counterpart GapC. GapA and GapB transit peptides evolve about 10 times faster than the corresponding mature subunits. They are relatively long (68 and 83 residues for pea GapA and spinach GapB respectively) and share a similar amino acid framework with other chloroplast transit peptides
Accurate matching and reconstruction of line features from ultra high resolution stereo aerial images
In this study, a new reconstruction approach is proposed for the line segments that are nearly-aligned(<= 10 degrees) with the epipolar line. The method manipulates the redundancy inherent in line pair-relations to generate artificial 3D point entities and utilize those entities during the estimation process to improve the height values of the reconstructed line segments. The best point entities for the reconstruction are selected based on a newly proposed weight function. To test the performance of the proposed approach, we selected three test patches over a built up area of the city of Vaihingen-Germany. Based on the results, the proposed approach produced highly promising reconstruction results for the line segments that are nearly-aligned with the epipolar line
From 2-methylimidazole to 1,2,3-triazole: a topological transformation of ZIF-8 and ZIF-67 by post-synthetic modification

Effects of deposition time and post-deposition annealing on the physical and chemical properties of electrodeposited CdS thin films for solar cell application
CdS thin films were cathodically electrodeposited by means of a two-electrode deposition system
for different durations. The films were characterised for their structural, optical, morphological
and compositional properties using x-ray diffraction (XRD), spectrophotometry, scanning
electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive x-ray (EDX) respectively. The results obtained
show that the physical and chemical properties of these films are significantly influenced by the
deposition time and post-deposition annealing. This influence manifests more in the as-deposited
materials than in the annealed ones. XRD results show that the crystallite sizes of the different
films are in the range (9.4 – 65.8) nm and (16.4 – 66.0) nm in the as-deposited and annealed
forms respectively. Optical measurements show that the absorption coefficients are in the range
(2.7×104 – 6.7×104) cm-1 and (4.3×104 – 7.2×104) cm-1 respectively for as-deposited and annealed
films. The refractive index is in the range (2.40 – 2.60) for as-deposited films and come to the
value of 2.37 after annealing. The extinction coefficient varies in the range (0.1 – 0.3) in asdeposited
films and becomes 0.1 in annealed films. The estimated energy bandgap of the films is
in the range (2.48 – 2.50) eV for as-deposited films and becomes 2.42 eV for all annealed films.
EDX results show that all the films are S-rich in chemical composition with fairly uniform Cd/S
ratio after annealing. The results show that annealing improves the qualities of the films and
deposition time can be used to control the film thickness.
