    NTT speaker diarization system for CHiME-7: multi-domain, multi-microphone End-to-end and vector clustering diarization

    This paper details our speaker diarization system designed for multi-domain, multi-microphone casual conversations. The proposed diarization pipeline uses weighted prediction error (WPE)-based dereverberation as a front end, then applies end-to-end neural diarization with vector clustering (EEND-VC) to each channel separately. It integrates the diarization result obtained from each channel using diarization output voting error reduction plus overlap (DOVER-LAP). To harness the knowledge from the target domain and results integrated across all channels, we apply self-supervised adaptation for each session by retraining the EEND-VC with pseudo-labels derived from DOVER-LAP. The proposed system was incorporated into NTT's submission for the distant automatic speech recognition task in the CHiME-7 challenge. Our system achieved 65 % and 62 % relative improvements on development and eval sets compared to the organizer-provided VC-based baseline diarization system, securing third place in diarization performance.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figures, Submitted to ICASSP 202

    Microwave Effect for Glycosylation Promoted by Solid Super Acid in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide

    The effects of microwave irradiation (2.45 GHz, 200 W) on glycosylation promoted by a solid super acid in supercritical carbon dioxide was investigated with particular attention paid to the structure of the acceptor substrate. Because of the symmetrical structure and high diffusive property of supercritical carbon dioxide, microwave irradiation did not alter the temperature of the reaction solution, but enhanced reaction yield when aliphatic acceptors are employed. Interestingly, the use of a phenolic acceptor under the same reaction conditions did not show these promoting effects due to microwave irradiation. In the case of aliphatic diol acceptors, the yield seemed to be dependent on the symmetrical properties of the acceptors. The results suggest that microwave irradiation do not affect the reactivity of the donor nor promoter independently. We conclude that the effect of acceptor structure on glycosylation yield is due to electric delocalization of hydroxyl group and dielectrically symmetric structure of whole molecule

    Multi-Stream Extension of Variational Bayesian HMM Clustering (MS-VBx) for Combined End-to-End and Vector Clustering-based Diarization

    Combining end-to-end neural speaker diarization (EEND) with vector clustering (VC), known as EEND-VC, has gained interest for leveraging the strengths of both methods. EEND-VC estimates activities and speaker embeddings for all speakers within an audio chunk and uses VC to associate these activities with speaker identities across different chunks. EEND-VC generates thus multiple streams of embeddings, one for each speaker in a chunk. We can cluster these embeddings using constrained agglomerative hierarchical clustering (cAHC), ensuring embeddings from the same chunk belong to different clusters. This paper introduces an alternative clustering approach, a multi-stream extension of the successful Bayesian HMM clustering of x-vectors (VBx), called MS-VBx. Experiments on three datasets demonstrate that MS-VBx outperforms cAHC in diarization and speaker counting performance.Comment: Accepted at Interspeech 202

    Expression of pancreatic secretory trypsin inhibitor gene in neoplastic tissues

    AbstractExpression of the human pancreatic secretory trypsin inhibitor (PSTI) gene was examined in 24 cases of neoplastic tissues by Northern blot analyses. In three cases of lung adenocarcinoma and one case of sigmoid colon polyp, we detected transcripts which hybridized to the human PSTI cDNA probe. cDNA libraries were constructed using mRNAs of the two PSTI-positive tumor tissues. Two PSTI cDNA clones were obtained from each sample. Sequencing analyses showed that they were completely identical with that of pancreatic PSTI cDNA which had been reported [(1985) Biochem. Biophys. Res. Commun. 132, 605–612]. Southern blot analyses showed that the elevated expression of PSTI in neoplastic tissues was accompanied by neither PSTI gene amplification nor rearrangements

    Preventive effects of metallothionein against DNA and lipid metabolic damages in dyslipidemic mice under repeated mild stress

    The effects of repeated mild stress on DNA and lipid metabolic damages in multiple organs of dyslipidemic mice, and the preventive role of metallothionein (MT) were investigated. Female adult wild-type and MT-null mice fed high-fat diet (HFD) or standard diet (STD) were repeatedly subjected to fasting or restraint for three weeks. The liver, pancreas, spleen, bone marrow and serum samples were taken for evaluating DNA damage, MT, glutathione (GSH), corticosterone, carnitine and adiponectin. Body weights of restraint groups were reduced with the intensity of stress increased, even if the energy intakes were higher than those of STD group. Hepatic GSH levels were reduced in HFD control group and were further reduced in stress groups, especially in restraint groups, while the hepatic MT and serum corticosterone levels were increased in concert with the intensity of stress. Cellular DNA damages were generally increased by the restraint stress, especially in MT-null mice. Hepatic carnitine levels of MT-null mice were markedly lower than those of wild-type mice. The data suggest that MT plays a preventive role by acting as an antioxidant in corporation with GSH decreased by repeated stress and that MT may be an essential factor for inducing carnitine under the stress

    Percutaneous coronary intervention strategy for acute coronary syndrome caused by spontaneous coronary artery dissection for relieving ongoing ischemia—Case series and literature review

    AbstractAlthough spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is one of the causes of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) or sudden cardiac death, its standard management, especially primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in ACS patients with ongoing ischemia, has not been established. We experienced three ACS patients with SCAD who were treated with a different strategy of primary PCI. Each PCI strategy led to different clinical and procedural results. We describe here such PCI strategies and results, and also discuss the literature regarding primary PCI strategies for SCAD-induced ACS patients with ongoing ischemia.<Learning objective: SCAD is a cause of ACS. However, the treatment strategy of primary PCI for SCAD has not been fully investigated. We used different PCI strategies for three SCAD patients with ongoing ischemia. Our case series suggested that plain old balloon angioplasty is an acceptable option to avoid coronary stenting because the majority of patients were young menstruating women. Coronary vasospasm might be associated with SCAD. Treatment with vasodilators could be a potential pharmacological option for avoiding recurrence of SCAD.
