6D Dyonic String With Active Hyperscalars
We derive the necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a
Killing spinor in N=(1,0) gauge supergravity in six dimensions coupled to a
single tensor multiplet, vector multiplets and hypermultiplets. These are shown
to imply most of the field equations and the remaining ones are determined. In
this framework, we find a novel 1/8 supersymmetric dyonic string solution with
nonvanishing hypermultiplet scalars. The activated scalars parametrize a 4
dimensional submanifold of a quaternionic hyperbolic ball. We employ an
identity map between this submanifold and the internal space transverse to the
string worldsheet. The internal space forms a 4 dimensional analog of the
Gell-Mann-Zwiebach tear-drop which is noncompact with finite volume. While the
electric charge carried by the dyonic string is arbitrary, the magnetic charge
is fixed in Planckian units, and hence necessarily non-vanishing. The source
term needed to balance a delta function type singularity at the origin is
determined. The solution is also shown to have 1/4 supersymmetric AdS_3 x S^3
near horizon limit where the radii are proportional to the electric charge.Comment: 28 pages, latex, minor corrections mad
Maternal age, education level and migration: Socioeconomic determinants for smoking during pregnancy in a field study from Turkey
WOS: 000279909900003PubMed ID: 20534133Background: Smoking during pregnancy has been associated with socioeconomic determinants and it is recognized as the most important preventable risk factor for an unsuccessful pregnancy outcome. Turkey has national data on the prevalance of smoking during pregnancy; however there is no data on the characteristics of the high-risk population. This is a field study that aims to identify socioeconomic determinants for smoking during pregnancy as well as differentiating the daily and occasional smokers. Method: Cross sectional study was conducted among women with 0-5 year old children living in the area served by Primary Health Care Center (PHCC) in Burhaniye, Turkey. Face-to-face interviews were conducted by the researchers during January-March 2008 at the home of the participants with 83.7% response rate (n = 256). The relation of "smoking during pregnacy" and "daily smoking during pregnancy" with the independent variables was determined with chi(2) tests. Women's age, educational level, number of previous births, place of origin, migration, partner's educational level, poverty, perceived income, social class were evaluated. Statistical significance was achieved when the p value was less than 0.05. The variables in relation with the dependent variables in the chi(2) tests were included in the forward-stepwise logistic analysis. Results: Prevalance of smoking during pregnancy was 22.7%. The majority (74.1%) were daily smokers. Young mothers (< 20), low educated women and migrants were at increased risk for smoking during pregnancy. Low education and being a migrant were risk factors for daily consumption (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Systematic attention should be paid to socioeconomic determinants in smoking for pregnant women, especially in countries like Turkey with high rates of infant and mother mortality and substantial health inequalities. Young mothers (< 20), low educated women and migrants are important groups to focus on
An effective approach to entity resolution problem using quasi-clique and its application to digital libraries
We study how to resolve entities that contain a group of related elements in them (e.g., an author entity with a list of citations or an intermediate result by GROUP BY SQL query). Such entities, named as grouped-entities, frequently occur in many applications. By exploiting contextual information mined from the group of elements per entity in addition to syntactic similarity, we show that our approach, Quasi-Clique, improves precision and recall unto 91 % when used together with a variety of existing entity resolution solutions, but never worsens them
Improving grouped-entity resolution using quasi-cliques
The entity resolution (ER) problem, which identifies duplicate entities that refer to the same real world entity, is essential in many applications. In this paper, in particular, we focus on resolving entities that contain a group of related elements in them (e.g., an author entity with a list of citations, a singer entity with song list, or an intermediate result by GROUP BY SQL query). Such entities, named as grouped-entities, frequently occur in many applications. The previous approaches toward grouped-entity resolution often rely on textual similarity, and produce a large number of false positives. As a complementing technique, in this paper, we present our experience of applying a recently proposed graph mining technique, Quasi-Clique, atop conventional ER solutions. Our approach exploits contextual information mined from the group of elements per entity in addition to syntactic similarity. Extensive experiments verify that our proposal improves precision and recall up to 83 % when used together with a variety of existing ER solutions, but never worsens them.
A comparison of external fixation and locked intramedullary nailing in the treatment of femoral diaphysis fractures from gunshot injuries
We studied the safety and incidence of complications from the treatment of gunshot-induced femur diaphysis fractures with locked intramedullary nailing in comparison to external fixation
