Dynamical simulation of spin-glass and chiral-glass orderings in three-dimensional Heisenberg spin glasses
Spin-glass and chiral-glass orderings in three-dimensional Heisenberg spin
glasses are studied with and without randaom magnetic anisotropy by dynamical
Monte Carlo simulations. In isotropic case, clear evidence of a
finite-temperature chiral-glass transition is presented. While the spin
autocorrelation exhibits only an interrupted aging, the chirality
autocorrelation persists to exhibit a pronounced aging effect reminisecnt of
the one observed in the mean-field model. In anisotropic case, asymptotic
mixing of the spin and the chirality is observed in the off-equilibrium

Fermentation and Cell Wall Degradation in Guineagrass and Italian Ryegrass Silages
Guineagrass (Panicum maximum Jacq.) was ensiled at the room temperature and Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum L.) was ensiled at the room temperature and at 30 under the laboratory conditions. As a result, the acetic acid silage was made from Guineagrass and the lactic acid silages were made from Italian ryegrass. The loss of cell wall components during ensiling was the most in hemicellulose followed by NDF, but those of cellulose and AD-lignin were slight. In the hemicellulosic monosaccharides, the loss of hexose (galactose and glucose) was relatively high and that of pentose (arabinose and xylose) was relatively low in the three types of silage. The temperature had little effect on the losses from Italian ryegrass, and the loss of hemicellulose was higher in Guineagrass silage than in Italian ryegrass silages
Universal fermionization of bosons on permutative representations of the Cuntz algebra
Bosons and fermions are described by using canonical generators of Cuntz
algebras on any permutative representation. We show a fermionization of bosons
which universally holds on any permutative representation of the Cuntz algebra
. As examples, we show fermionizations on the Fock space and the

Novel spin-liquid states in the frustrated Heisenberg antiferromagnet on the honeycomb lattice
Recent experiment on a honeycomb-lattice Heisenberg antiferromagnet (AF)
BiMnO(NO) revealed a novel spin-liquid-like behavior down to
low temperature, which was ascribed to the frustration effect due to the
competition between the AF nearest- and next-nearest-neighbor interactions
and . Motivated by the experiment, we study the ordering of the
- frustrated classical Heisenberg AF on a honeycomb lattice both by
a low-temperature expansion and a Monte Carlo simulation. The model has been
known to possess a massive degeneracy of the ground state, which, however,
might be lifted due to thermal fluctuations leading to a unique ordered state,
the effect known as 'order-by-disorder'. We find that the model exhibits an
intriguing ordering behavior, particularly near the AF phase boundary. The
energy scale of the order-by-disorder is suppressed there down to extremely low
temperatures, giving rise to exotic spin-liquid states like a "ring-liquid" or
a "pancake-liquid" state accompanied by the characteristic spin structure
factor and the field-induced antiferromagnetism. We argue that the recent
experimental data are explicable if the system is in such exotic spin-liquid
states
Improvement of Forage Quality by Means of Biotechnology: Stable Transformation of Warm-Season Grasses by Particle Bombardment
We have used a simple and inexpensive, self-built particle acceleration apparatus for direct delivery of DNA to cultured cells of warm-season grasses. High levels of transient expression of the b-glucuronidase gene were obtained following bombardment of embryogenic suspension cells and calli of bahiagrass (Paspalum notatum FlĂĽgge) and dallisgrass (Paspalum dilatatum Poir). Furthermore, stable transformed calli of both species have been obtained using this simple particle gun
The Experimental plan of the 4m Resonant Sideband Extraction Prototype for The LCGT
The 4m Resonant Sideband Extraction (RSE) interferometer is a planned prototype of the LCGT interferometer. The aim of the experiment is to operate a powerrecycled Broadband RSE interferometer with suspended optics and to achieve diagonalization of length signals of the central part of the interferometer directly through the optical setup. Details of the 4m RSE interferometer control method as well as the design of the experimental setup will be presented
Tricritical behavior of the frustrated XY antiferromagnet
Extensive histogram Monte-Carlo simulations of the XY antiferromagnet on a
stacked triangular lattice reveal exponent estimates which strongly favor a
scenario of mean-field tricritical behavior for the spin-order transition. The
corresponding chiral-order transition occurs at the same temperature but
appears to be decoupled from the spin-order. These results are relevant to a
wide class of frustrated systems with planar-type order and serve to resolve a

Transformation in Lotus Corniculatus: Towards Low-Lignin Pasture Through Antisense RNA
We have developed a rapid and reproducible transformation system for bird’s-foot trefoil (Lotus corniculatus L.) by using Agrobacterium-mediated T-DNA transfer and the incorporation of the antisense gene for cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase (CAD) from Aralia cordata into Lotus for lignin reduction. The presence of the transferred antisense gene in regenerated plants has been confirmed by PCR analysis
