    Improving Employer Attractiveness of Salon MOZ5 Bandung through Employer Branding

    Abstract—Nowadays companies have to compete with  their competitors, not only on products or services, but also on attracting employees. During the last couple of years, competition concerning attracting, recruiting, and retaining the best possible skilled employees has increased significantly. Without the right applicants, organizations are not able to develop the level of competitive advantage needed to compete in an unstable economy. As a consequence of those, companies are increasingly trying to make themselves as attractive employers on the labor market. One way to attract recruits and assure the current employees are engaged in the culture and the strategy of the firm is employer branding. In salon industry like Salon Moz5 Bandung, the need for  professional employees is very important to satisfy customers.Because It affects the revenue of the salon.However, in February 2016, the revenue of Salon Moz5 Bandung decreased drastically. The capacity of the salon is not enough with the number of customers. It was because of the lack of applicants applying for jobs in the salon. One thing that can make applicants apply in a company is employer branding. It is important to know what factors attracts new employees and then make it as employer branding. The researcher is interested to analyze the effects of the location, corporate image, corporate social responsibility, task, and flexibility in working to employee attractiveness. The research is conducted to test several hypotheses which are; is there a significant effect of location, corporate image, corporate social responsibility, task, and flexibility in working to employer attractiveness and how to increase the number of applicants applying for jobs at Salon Moz5 Bandung. The analysis technique used in this research is the multiple linear regression. The respondents are 74 students of SMK N 9 Bandung majoring skin and hair care in 3rd years and alumnus who just graduated in 2016. The result of the analysis shows that the only factor that has a significant effect on employer attractiveness is corporate image. This research recommends to Salon Moz5 Bandung’s owner to make a more well known corporate image, create a brand ambassador program, and socialize about Salon Moz5 Bandung to schools so the number of applicants will increase.Keywords—location, corporate image, corporate social responsibility, task, flexibility in working, employer attractivenss, salo

    Enhancing The Awareness of Mechanization Adoption in Agriculture Through Game-Based Learning

    Abstract. This research implements game-based learning to build rice farmers' awareness of the importance of using mechanization or advanced technology in agriculture. The use of mechanization is one way to increase farming productivity and efficiency, improve the quality and added value of products, and empower farmers. This study examines farmers' attitudes towards the adoption of mechanized methods and proposes a suitable game-based learning approach. First, qualitative methods were employed to develop the game by gathering information, pilot testing, and asking for feedback from farmers. Then, the quantitative method is applied to assess the game's effectiveness using a post- and pretest questionnaire. Cluster analysis was also conducted to determine the proper learning approach based on the farmers' characteristics. The game-based approach is shown to shed light on fostering the adoption of mechanized methods. There are two clusters identified. On average, the first cluster has a younger age, higher educational background, and more positive attitudes toward using mechanized methods. The second cluster, on average, has an older age, a lower educational level, and lower scores in their attitudes toward the adoption of mechanization. The findings also suggest that the farmers in the first cluster may be reached using a pedagogy-based approach, whereas the second is likely to be more receptive to an andragogy-based approach.Keywords: Agriculture; rice farmers; mechanization method; game-based learning; learning approachAbstrak. Penelitian ini menerapkan pembelajaran berbasis permainan untuk membangun kesadaran petani padi akan pentingnya menggunakan teknik mekanisasi dalam pengelolaan lahannya. Selain itu, penelitian ini mengkaji sikap petani terhadap adopsi metode mekanisasi dan mengusulkan pendekatan pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan karakteristik petani. Pertama, metode kualitatif digunakan untuk mengembangkan permainan dengan mengumpulkan informasi, melakukan uji coba, dan meminta umpan balik dari petani. Kemudian, metode kuantitatif diterapkan untuk menilai keefektifan permainan dengan kuesioner post and pre-test. Analisis klaster juga dilakukan untuk mengetahui pendekatan pembelajaran yang tepat berdasarkan karakteristik petani. Pembelajaran berbasis permainan telah terbukti membantu mendorong petani melakukan adopsi metode mekanisasi. Ada dua klaster yang teridentifikasi. Klaster pertama memiliki usia yang lebih muda, latar belakang pendidikan tinggi dan rata-rata memiliki skor sikap menggunakan metode mekanisme yang lebih tinggi. Klaster kedua memiliki usia yang lebih tua, tingkat pendidikan yang lebih rendah juga skor yang lebih rendah dalam sikap mereka terhadap adopsi rata-rata. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa petani di klaster pertama dapat didekati dengan menggunakan pendekatan berbasis pedagogis, sedangkan klaster kedua dapat didekati dengan pendekatan berbasis andragogi.Katakunci: Pertanian; petani padi; metode mekanisasi; pembelajaran berbasis permainan; pendekatan pembelajara

    A Participatory Action Research-Based Community Development Program to Overcome Problem of Access to Fresh Water: Case Study of Malingping Village, West Bandung

    Abstract. Water connects every aspect of life, but access to it still becomes a problem for some communities in the world. Many initiatives in the form of community development program have been developed to help people to get better access to fresh water. To accomplish this, it needs several steps to be done. It starts with the needs identification and ends with the program implementation. However, the question is whether the identified needs is the priority and whether the program recipient needs it. This condition causes that not few community programs end ineffectively. The community development program is not only about the program, but the term explains the overall process. This paper is to explore how Participatory Action Research can be a method to increase the efficiency of the community development program by taking a case of community development program run by students of a business school in Indonesia. By using the Participatory Action Research method, the students identified problems faced by the community and worked collaboratively with them to solve the problem. As a result, they built a freshwater facility that can be used by all of the people in the community, and now they have better access to water, so they no longer have difficulty in getting fresh water especially in the dry season. With this new freshwater facility that is owned and managed communally, people have enough water supply to fulfill their needs as well as to support their activities such as make irrigation that eventually can increase their wellness. Keywords: Access to fresh water, community development, collaborative action, participatory action research, sustainability

    Preference-Based Feasibility Study for Premium Apartments in Indonesia

    This research aims to analyze the most optimistic scenario of a financial feasibility study for apartment product in South Bekasi, Indonesia. The location was selected due to the plan by the property developer to conduct a development in the area. It is a premium apartment enthralled-market towards differentiation strategy; by providing luxury facilities; however, the market response is negative. To determine adequate facilities, apartment unit size, and unit prize, the authors have evaluated the most feasible scenarios. These scenarios are developed using the worst to the very optimistic patterns that can be achieved through financial analysis. A market survey was conducted to analyze customer preferences. There are nine factors of customer preferences that have been analyzed in this research encompassing specific location, design and concept, facilities, accessibility, liveability, reinvestment value, the reputation of the developer, physical quality, and floor plan. Data were collected from a total of 252 respondents, consisted of apartment owners and future apartment owners. This study used descriptive statistical analysis via average analysis. The market survey results were then used to develop the scenarios for feasibility studies in this research. Nine scenarios were carried out to evaluate the most optimistic feasibility study. All the scenarios produced positive NPV and accepted IRR, with Payback Period faster than the required and/or requested time. The smallest IRR produced is 12.45%, which is higher than the Weighted Average Cost of Capital of 10.9%. These findings show that even in the worst situation, this project is feasible to use the modified assumptions discussed earlier

    Destination Country of Field Trip Analysis to Improve Student Cultural Intelligence (CQ)

    Abstract. Cultural Intelligence (CQ) is a type of intelligence that can affect someone performance when they work in multi-cultural context. Therefore, university should help their students in increasing their CQ. There are a lot of method that can be used in increasing students’ CQ. One of them is field trip to another country. However, to have optimal effect from this method, chose destination country is an important aspect that must be considered. This research tried to find the suitable destination country by sending students to visit three different countries which were chosen based on the level of national culture similarities based on Hofstede model. The CQ of students was measured before and after the field trips and then the result was compared. The result showed that destination country with similarities in their national culture can give more impact in increasing both students’ CQ and the cognitive aspect of CQ.Keywords: Cultural intelligence, field trip, destination country, hosftede, national culture Abstrak. Kecerdasan kultural (CQ) adalah salah satu jenis kecerdasan yang dapat memengaruhi kinerja seseorang ketika bekerja dalam kontks multibudaya. Karena itu, universitas sebagai lembaga pendidikan tinggi harus membantu siswa dalam meningkatkan CQ. Ada banyak metode yang dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan CQ siswa, salah satunya adalah karyawisata ke negara lain. Namun, untuk memeroleh hasil optimal dari metode tersebut, pemilihan negara tujuan menjadi komponen yang penting untuk diperhatikan. Penelitian ini mencoba untuk mengidentifikasi negara tujuan seperti apa yang sesuai dengan mengirimkan siswa ke tiga negara yang memiliki tingkat kultur nasional yang berbeda berdasarkan model Hosftede. CQ siswa diukur sebelum keberangkatan dan setelah keberangkan dan dilakukan komparasi terhadap hasil tersebut. Hasil pengukuran menunjukkan bahwa negara tujuan yang memiliki kemiripian kultural nasional yang serupa dapat memberikan dampak optimal pada peningkatan CQ siswa, terutama komponen kognitif.Kata kunci: Kecerdasan kultural, karyawisata, negara tujuan, hosftede, budaya nasiona
