Fermionic zero-modes in type II fivebrane backgrounds
The explicit form of the fermionic zero-modes in the fivebrane backgrounds of
type IIA and IIB supergravity theories is investigated. In type IIA fivebrane
background there are four zero-modes of gravitinos and dilatinos. In type IIB
fivebrane background four zero-modes of dilatinos and no zero-modes of
gravitinos are found. These zero-modes indicate the four-fermion condensates
which have been suggested in a calculation of the tension of the D-brane in
fivebrane backgrounds.Comment: 10 page
Model-independent analysis of \bbox{B}-\bbox{\bar B} mixing and \bbox{CP} violation in \bbox{B} decays
We present a framework to analyze effects of new physics beyond the standard
model on - mixing and violation in decays in a
model-independent manner. Assuming that tree level decay amplitudes are
dominated by the standard model ones, new physics contribution to the - mixing can be extracted from several measurements at factories. Using
this framework, we show the present constraint on new physics contribution to
the - mixing, and illustrate constraints expected to be given by
future experiments at factories. We also point out a possibility that
asymmetries in , , and modes look consistent with the standard model, even if a large new physics

All-electron GW calculation based on the LAPW method: application to wurtzite ZnO
We present a new, all-electron implementation of the GW approximation and
apply it to wurtzite ZnO. Eigenfunctions computed in the local-density
approximation (LDA) by the full-potential linearized augmented-plane-wave
(LAPW) or the linearized muffin-tin-orbital (LMTO) method supply the input for
generating the Green function G and the screened Coulomb interaction W. A mixed
basis is used for the expansion of W, consisting of plane waves in the
interstitial region and augmented-wavefunction products in the
augmentation-sphere regions. The frequency-dependence of the dielectric
function is computed within the random-phase approximation (RPA), without a
plasmon-pole approximation. The Zn 3d orbitals are treated as valence states
within the LDA; both core and valence states are included in the self-energy
calculation. The calculated bandgap is smaller than experiment by about 1eV, in
contrast to previously reported GW results. Self-energy corrections are
orbital-dependent, and push down the deep O 2s and Zn 3d levels by about 1eV
relative to the LDA. The d level shifts closer to experiment but the size of
shift is underestimated, suggesting that the RPA overscreens localized states.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figures, submitted to Phys. Rev.
Enhancing customer-based brand equity through CSR in the hospitality sector
Corporate social responsibility is considered an important element in the development of brand equity. Extant research in this context is mainly focused on the relationship between this corporate philosophy and financial performance, overlooking its potential to develop competitive advantages through brand equity dimensions. The aim of this research is to explore the impact of socially responsible aspects on hotel brand equity. To test the proposed model personal surveys of hotel customers were conducted. A structural equation model was developed to test the research hypotheses. The findings show that corporate social responsibility has positive effects on brand image, perceived quality, brand awareness, and brand loyalty
O(a)-improved quark action on anisotropic lattices and perturbative renormalization of heavy-light currents
We investigate the Symanzik improvement of the Wilson quark action on
anisotropic lattices. Taking first a general action with nearest-neighbor and
clover interactions, we study the mass dependence of the ratio of the hopping
parameters, the clover coefficients, and an improvement coefficient for
heavy-light vector and axial vector currents. We show how tree-level
improvement can be achieved. For a particular choice of the spatial Wilson
coupling, the results simplify, and improvement is possible.

With this choice we calculate the renormalization factors of heavy-light
bilinear operators at one-loop order of perturbation theory employing the

Tracheo-brachiocephalic artery fistula after tracheostomy associated with thoracic deformity: a case report
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Introduction</p> <p>Tracheo-brachiocephalic artery fistulae are critical long-term complications after tracheostomy, reported in 0.6% of patients within three to four weeks after the procedure. In 30% to 50% of cases there is some bleeding prior to onset. Since the onset involves sudden massive bleeding, the prognosis is poor; the reported survival rate is 10% to 30%. The direct cause of bleeding is the formation of a fistula with the trachea subsequent to arterial injury by the tracheostomy tube. Endo-tracheal factors are movement of the tracheostomy tube due to body movement and seizures, pressure exerted by the cuff of the tracheostomy tube, tracheostomy at lower levels, and the fragility of blood vessels and the trachea due to steroid or radiation therapy, and malnutrition. Extra-tracheal factors include prior surgery and deformity and shifting of the trachea and major blood vessels due to congenital kyphoscoliosis or thoracic deformity. There has been no report of the usefulness of contrast-enhanced computed tomography studies to identify the anatomical relationship between the trachea and brachiocephalic artery.</p> <p>Case presentation</p> <p>A 27-year-old Mongolian woman with congenital muscular dystrophy who underwent tracheal intubation for airway management due to pneumonia and granulation development developed a tracheo-brachiocephalic artery fistula during the placement of the tracheostomy tube. It was diagnosed by contrast-enhanced chest computed tomography and repaired. About a month later she developed massive airway bleeding during replacement of the tracheostomy tube. Temporary hemostasis was achieved by compression via cuff inflation. A contrast-enhanced chest computed tomography scan demonstrated a narrowed brachiocephalic artery running along and ventral to the tube and a tracheo-brachiocephalic artery fistula was suspected. She underwent brachiocephalic artery resection and aorta, right common carotid artery, and subclavian artery bypass surgery with an innominate vein, tracheoplasty, and partial sternectomy. We noted marked thoracic deformity; the brachiocephalic artery was compressed by the trachea and chest wall resulting in localized wall necrosis and the development of a tracheo-brachiocephalic artery fistula, a fatal complication whose prevention is important.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>We suggest that before tracheostomy, the anatomic relationship between the trachea and brachiocephalic artery must be confirmed by contrast-enhanced chest computed tomography scan.</p
