The application of the microcredit has undergone a very much interpretation among scholars. Some believe it would change the overall economic scenarios and some perhaps would rather picture it as a provision to service poor societies. The success factors of microcredit performance and its interpretation until now yet being highlighted. Thus, the aim of this paper is to look at intensity upon micro credit performance among women entrepreneurship where customer knowledge, customer managerial and customer attitude will use as a main variables. This study was preliminary tested via a random survey consists of 100 samples of customers at Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM)in Kelantan. The data is analyzed using frequency distributions, reliability analysis, descriptive statistics, linear regression, pearson correlation and regression analysis via SPSS.Based on our findings we believed that all of variables selected are significant in the rank that customer managerial become the main success factors of microcredit to acceleratefurther in sustainability of women entrepreneurships in Kelantan as well as Malaysia in overall

Multi-Population mortality model: A practical approach

    Get PDF
The growing number of multi-population mortality models in the recent years signifies the mortality improvement in developed countries. In this case, there exists a narrowing gap of sex-differential in life expectancy between populations; hence multi-population mortality models are designed to assimilate the correlation between populations. The present study considers two extensions of the single-population Lee-Carter model, namely the independent model and augmented common factor model. The independent model incorporates the information between male and female separately whereas the augmented common factor model incorporates the information between male and female simultaneously. The methods are demonstrated in two perspectives: First is by applying them to Malaysian mortality data and second is by comparing the significance of the methods to the annuity pricing. The performances of the two methods are then compared in which has been found that the augmented common factor model is more superior in terms of historical fit, forecast performance, and annuity pricing

    Get PDF
The incorporation of non-linear pattern of early ages has opened new research directions on improving the existing stochastic mortality model structure. Several authors have outlined the importance of encompassing the full age range in dealing with longevity risk exposure by not to ignore the dependence between young and old age. In this study, we consider the two extensions of Cairns, Blake and Dowd model that incorporate the irregularity profile seen at the mortality of lower ages which are Plat and O’Hare and Li. The models’ performances in terms of in-sample fitting and out-sample forecasts were examined and compared. The results indicated that O’Hare and Li model performs better as compared to Plat model

The usage of ICT to raise knowledge and awareness about beach cleanliness among community at Pantai Merdeka

    Get PDF
Beach cleanliness is a major issue todays. Thus, mass media such as mobile phones is one of the information and communication technologies (ICT) that can influence the public to increase their knowledge and awareness to keep the beach clean. In addition, mass media also plays an important role in changing people's attitudes to proactively respond to beach pollution issues. This can be seen from two main points: the knowledge and awareness of the local community about beach cleanliness; and the effectiveness of information and communications technology (ICT) to increase the knowledge and awareness of local communities on the importance of beach cleanliness. The study sample consisted of 30 respondents from local community at Pantai Merdeka. The data were collected using questionnaire in two stages; pre, and post survey. After a pre survey, the respondents were shown a video about beach cleanliness. Then, another survey were given to examine the level of awareness and knowledge. Then, data were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) 25. The results from descriptive analysis showed that the level of knowledge in pre survey (before watching the video) was good while the level of awareness in post survey the video was moderate. However, after the respondents watching the video, the level of knowledge and awareness has improved. Finally, to ensure that information about the beach cleanliness well disseminated, the researchers propose to use the ICT medium such as television. This is because, if the video is only available on YouTube, it might prevent older people to see it as most of them have less knowledge about ICT technology. But when it advertises on television, almost all people will watch it. This study forwards implication to impose the effectiveness of environment education

Effects of additives in reducing the odour concentration emanating from water scrubber in rubber processing factory/ Mohd Ikram Mohammad... [et al.]

    Get PDF
The paper describes the effects of additives incorporated into the scrubbing medium in reducing the odour concentration emanating from the water scrubber treatment system (WSTS) in Standard Malaysian Rubber (SMR) processing factory. Two different types of commercial WSTS additives were used in a lab scale simulation of a WSTS using water scrubber samples (WSS) as the scrubbing medium that were sourced from a local SMR processing factory. The WSS after incorporation of the additives were tested for odour concentration via olfactometry analysis. Total solid content, suspended solid, pH, UV-vis analysis and contact angle measurements of the WSS were also conducted. The results of olfactometry analysis indicated that each of the additives reduced the odour concentration level by 9.25% and 42.84%, respectively. The reduction in odour concentration was accompanied by an increase in total solid, suspended solid, pH and UV measureable compounds which may indicate an increase in the WSTS efficiency. The additions of additives were also shown to reduce the contact angle of the WSS that could plausibly be attributed to changes in the wetting properties of WSS. The work conducted has presented the likely effects of additives in the scrubbing medium or WSS of the WSTS in terms of its performance and properties

Role of Interferons in the Development of Diagnostics, Vaccines, and Therapy for Tuberculosis

    Get PDF
Tuberculosis (TB) is an airborne infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb). About one-third of the world’s population is latently infected with TB and 5–15% of them will develop active TB in their lifetime. It is estimated that each case of active TB may cause 10–20 new infections. Host immune response to Mtb is influenced by interferon- (IFN-) signaling pathways, particularly by type I and type II interferons (IFNs). The latter that consists of IFN-γ has been associated with the promotion of Th1 immune response which is associated with protection against TB. Although this aspect remains controversial at present due to the lack of established correlates of protection, currently, there are different prophylactic, diagnostic, and immunotherapeutic approaches in which IFNs play an important role. This review summarizes the main aspects related with the biology of IFNs, mainly associated with TB, as well as presents the main applications of these cytokines related to prophylaxis, diagnosis, and immunotherapy of TB
