    Nurses' Viewpoints on Misbehavior in Clinics in Teaching Hospitals of Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences

    Introduction: Uncivil behaviors in work environments are a serious threat, lead to shame, and endanger the health of nurses and patients. The aim of this study was study the uncivil behaviors in therapeutic settings from nurses' viewpoint in educational hospitals of Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences. Material and methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with 219 nurses from educational hospitals affiliated to Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences in 2018. Data were collected through a questionnaire of demographic information and standard questionnaire of Guidroz uncivil nursing behaviors by quota method and then random Sampling. Data were analyzed using SPSS 20 using descriptive statistics and chi square test. Results: The findings of this study showed that mean score of uncivil behaviors from nurse's perspective was 14.09±24.10. Most uncivil behavior in nurses interacts with physicians (17.70±5.38) and the lowest in nurses interacting with other nurses (36.17±6.67) was observed. Conclusion: Although the mean of nursing’s viewpoint about uncivil behavior was not significant in this study. However, due to the destructive effects of such behaviors in clinical settings, adopting strategies to improve the care provided in the clinic and the job satisfaction of nursing staff is essential.     The application level of the infection control methods in the operation wards of Shahrekord university hospitals compared to the standards in 2005

    Background and aim: Nosocomial infection is an important health problem. The operation rooms of the hospitals are potentially favorite places for distribution of these diseases. It is now known that using standard control methods could prevent the infections. The aim of this study was to find the application level of these methods in Shahrekord universitiy hospitals and to compare them with the present standards methods. Method: This descriptive analytical study was performed in three operation wards including 7 operation rooms. Data was collected using a questionnaire consisted of 54 questions about facilities and equipments, 8 questions about personnel practice related to infection control, 12 questions about individual hygiene and scrub methods, 8 questions about disinfection and sterilization and 7 questions about using preventive measures. The data was analyzed using t test. Results: The findings showed that application of disinfecting and sterilizing methods (93.75%), individual health, scrub methods (79.2%), and the patient admission process (84%) were poor. Conclusion: In conclusion, the operation wards have to be reviewed and supervised regularly for personnel, equipments, buildings, and training of the personnel to use disinfection control methods

    Effect of Multimedia Education Based on the Family-centered Approach and Telephone Follow-up (Telenursing) on the Quality of Life of Patients with Myocardial Infarction after Discharge

    Background and Objective: Several physical and psychological factors may decrease the quality of life in patients with myocardial infarction. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of multimedia education based on the family-centered approach and telephone follow-up (telenursing) on the quality of life of patients with myocardial infarction after discharge. Materials and Methods: This clinical trial was conducted on 60 patients with myocardial infarction admitted to the CCU of Hajar Hospital in Shahrekord, Iran in 2019. The patients were selected via convenience sampling and randomly divided into the intervention and control groups. In the intervention group, a workshop was implemented through multimedia software for the patients and their active family caregivers. The intervention was performed by the researcher for one month. The control group received no intervention. Quality of life was assessed before and one month after the intervention using the Minnesota living with heart failure questionnaire. Data analysis was performed in SPSS version 21 at the significance level P<0.05. Results: Before the intervention, the mean score of quality of life in the control and intervention groups was 2.94±0.31 and 2.91±0.43, respectively, which was not statistically significant (P=1). After the intervention, the mean score of quality of life was 2.86±0.22 and 4.86±0.51 in the control and intervention groups, respectively, which significantly increased in the intervention group (P≤0.001). Conclusion: It is recommended that educational interventions be incorporated in to the treatment protocol of patients with myocardial infarction with the participation of their families and regular follow-up

    زمینه و هدف: امروزه عفونت های بیمارستانی یکی از معضلات اساسی سیستم بهداشتی است. بخش های اتاق عمل بدلیل شرایط خاص زخم های باز جراحی مکانهای بالقوه ای برای ایجاد عفونت های شدید بیمارستانی می باشند و رعایت معیارهای کنترل عفونت بر اساس استانداردها کلید اصلی پیشگیری از اینگونه عفونت ها است. این پژوهش با هدف بررسی میزان بکارگیری اصول و روشهای کنترل عفونت به وسیله پرسنل در اتاق عمل بیمارستان های شهرکرد و نیز مقایسه آن با استانداردها صورت گرفته است. روش بررسی: این پژوهش، مطالعه ای از نوع توصیفی – تحلیلی است که بر روی سه بخش اتاق عمل و جمعاً 7 واحد جراحی انجام گرفت. ابزار گرد آوری اطلاعات پرسشنامه هفت قسمتی محقق ساخته (شامل 54 سؤال در مورد امکانات و تجهیزات، 8 سؤال مربوط به مشاهده عملکرد پرسنل در مورد رعایت موازین کنترل عفونت در ارتباط با بیمار، 12 سؤال در ارتباط با نظافت شخصی، لباس و اسکراب، 8 سؤال در رابطه با عملکرد پرسنل تحت مشاهده در خصوص روش های ضد عفونی و استریلیزاسیون وسایل و 7 سؤال در مورد کاربرد روش های پیشگیری از عفونت در مورد عوامل محیطی نظیر سطوح و تهویه در اتاق عمل) می باشد. اطلاعات با استفاده از مشاهده و مصاحبه جمع آوری و جهت تجزیه و تحلیل داده ها از آزمون آماری t استفاده گردید. یافته ها: یافته های مطالعه نشان داد، عملکرد پرسنل مورد مشاهده در مورد روش های ضد عفونی و استریلیزاسیون (75/93)، نظافت شخصی و لباس و اسکراب (2/79) و بیمار (84) ضعیف بوده است. همچنین یافته ها نشان داد که امکانات و تجهیزات اتاق عمل از نظر روشهای کنترل عفونت با استانداردها فاصله دارد. نتیجه گیری: یافته های پژوهش نیاز مبرم به بازنگری فضای فیزیکی، امکانات و تجهیزات اتاقهای عمل و آموزش پرسنل در زمینه اصول کنترل عفونت و نظارت و کنترل دقیق بر عملکرد آنها را نشان داد

    Comparision of family function in the families of psychiatric patients with difference diagnosis

    Abstract Aim and Background: The family functioning is a suitable anticipant scale for mental health therefore; the goal of the current study was to compare family functioning of psychiatric disorders. Methods and Materials: This study was an analytical descriptive and cross-sectional study that performed on 150 patients with anxiety disorders , depressive disorders and bipolar disorders schizophrenia. The data was collected through interview by researcher, using the FDA (Family Function Questionnaire). The data assessed using by SPSS software using descriptive statistics and ANOVA analysis and Kruskal-Wallis. Findings: There was significant difference between the mean score of family functioning of patients with anxiety disorders, depressive disorders and bipolar disorders. Also the most difficult area of family functioning was on roles, involvement emotional and overall function (p ≤ 0. 05). Conclusions: In the present study, the incidence of the family system confirms on mental illness so evaluation of family functioning can help psychiatrists, mental health authorities and families in achieving a more comprehensive approach toward the management of the disorder

    Comparison of operation room staffs and patients perspectives from “patient privacy” in the operating room

    Background and aims: Privacy is one of the fundamental human rights and its consideration during health care is required and caused to maintain dignity and trust between the nurse and patient. This study was performed with the aim of investigateing the privacy of patients in the hospital operating room of Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences from the view of the staff and patients. Methods: This research was a decscriptive-analytic study. 38 operating room personnel and 88 patients who had surgery were selected by census and simple random sampling. Data were collected by a questionaire made by researcher. Data were analyzed using SPSS software with chi-square and t- test. Results: The results showed paying respect to privacy in physical dimention was considered from the standpoints of operating room personnel 62.9, the researcher's observations 60.7 and patients 78.9. Paying respect to privacy has been estimated in social dimension from the view of staff and patients&rsquo;and the researcher's observation 4, 11, and 5.3, respectively. Paying respect to privacy was considered from informational dimension, from the staff, patients&rsquo;, and researcher's observations views 54.2 and 79.5, respectively. In total, the results showed there was significant relationship between paying respect to privacy and gender so that more precent of patients stated having no paying respect privacy in physical dimension (P=0.022). Conclusion: Therapy personel and researcher&rsquo;s observations due to awareness of legal and ethical rules in this regard evaluated paying respect patient&rsquo;s privacy in the low level.     زمینه و هدف: طبق شواهد موجود بیماران از عدم دریافت اطلاعات لازم جهت آمادگی قبل از عمل و مراقبتهای پس از عمل رنج می برند. این مطالعه به مقایسه تأثیر دو روش آموزش کلامی چهره به چهره و آموزش از طریق پمفلت بر میزان دانش بیماران کاندیدای عمل جراحی غیراورژانس پرداخته است. روش بررسی: در این مطالعه کارآزمایی بالینی، 90 نفر بیمار کاندیدای عمل جراحی غیراورژانس با روش نمونه گیری تدریجی آسان وارد مطالعه گردیدند و به طور تصادفی و تدریجی دریک گروه کنترل و دو گروه آزمون (گروه آموزش کلامی چهره به چهره و گروه آموزش از طریق پمفلت) توزیع شدند. متغیر وابسته پژوهش را سطح دانش بیمار در مورد آمادگی های قبل، حین و پس از جراحی تشکیل می داد که با استفاده از آزمون دانش چند گزینه ای قبل و پس از مداخله مورد سنجش قرار گرفت.. یافته ها: دانش قبل از عمل بیماران پس از انجام مداخله در گروه های آزمون بطور معنی داری بالاتر از گروه شاهد بود (05/0>(P ولی بین دو گروه آزمون تفاوت معنی داری بدست نیامد (05/

    Comparing the Effectiveness of Informational Communication With Mobile Phone and E-Media on Anxiety in Cerebral Palsy

    Background and Aims The family members of patients experience a high level of anxiety during the patient’s CABG surgery. Information sharing with family members about the patient’s condition during surgery can reduce their anxiety. The present study was conducted to compare the effect of information sharing with electric boards and mobile phones on the anxiety of family members of patients undergoing CABG surgery. Methods This randomized controlled trial was conducted on 80 family members of patients undergoing CABG surgery. The intervention group was provided with information sharing using a mobile phone during the patient’s surgery. The control group received their patient’s information on electric patient tracking board inserted on the operating room wall. The study participants’ anxiety was evaluated using the Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), before and after the interventions. The obtained data were analyzed in SPSS using descriptive and analytical statistics. Results Before conducting the interventions, the mean±SD scores of anxiety were 49.03±12.82 and 47.80±10.41 in the test and control groups; the two study groups had no significant difference in this regard. After the interventions, the mean score of anxiety significantly reduced in the intervention group; however, no significant change was observed in the controls in this area. Additionally, the mean changes in anxiety score in the intervention group were significantly higher than the controls (P≤0.5). Conclusion According to the achieved results, informational support for the family members of patients can reduce their anxiety during their patients’ surgery procedure.     Quality of life and its effective factors in tuberculosis patients receiving directly observed treatment short-course (DOTS)

    Background: Quality of life in patients affected with chronic diseases has developed into a therapeutic objective as the best tool to evaluate response to treatment and medical care. The purpose of this study was to evaluate quality of life and its related factors in tuberculosis patients receiving directly observed treatment short-course in Iran. Methods: This was a cross-sectional research with a descriptive-analytic design. Sample size included 71 patients affected with tuberculosis based on census method; so that, at the time of the study, all the tuberculosis patients were recruited in this research. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire comprised of two parts including demographic characteristics information and standard 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36). The data were also analyzed using SPSS Statistics along with descriptive and analytic statistics and independent t-tests, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and Chi-square test. Results: The lowest mean score was 63.58 ± 10.16 and 62.82 ± 15.2 related to limited physical activity following mental problems and social functioning, respectively. Furthermore, the findings of the independent t-test demonstrated that the mean scores of quality of life among men and women, those with pulmonic and non-pulmonic tuberculosis, patient's place of residence and the stage of treatment were statistically and significantly different. Conclusion: According to the above results, tuberculosis and its treatment have impact on the social function, mental, and emotional aspects of the quality of life of patients, Attention to and monitoring of the quality of life as a follow up of the treatment and care intervention in these patients is necessary keywords: DOTS, Iran, Quality of life, Tuberculosi
