    The Metaphor in William Shakespeare’s Poem:“Sonnet LXIII”

    This study uses stylistic focused on the theory of figure of speech. Stylistic approach is done by analyzing the entire poem and continued to interpret their characteristics, and to find out the whole meaning of poem. Technique of data analysis uses qualitative descriptive analysis. The descriptive data was taken from the form of phrases, words, and sentences in the Sonnet 73 poems by William Shakespeare. The main problem of this research was to find out the metaphor in sonnet 73. Metaphor is a figure of speech that makes a comparison describing one thing as another, suggesting a likeness between them. It does not use “like” or “as”. This poem talks about aging, dying, and death, and portrays a feeling from the poet when he is so close to death and it influences his love relationship with his dear friend.Key words: Metaphor, Poem, Sonnet, William Shakespeare

    Abstract: The purpose of community service is to provide an introduction to masteryof the English vocabulary through the use of audio-visual media in children aged 4-6 years in the residential district Pandak Graha Bogor years 2014-2015. Extensionmethod this time using audio-visual media such as animated. The results showed thatthe use of public service media in the form of audio-visual media animation canincrease the sense of a great interest in learning and improve the mastery of Englishvocabulary. The steps of the use of audio-visual media in the form of animated are as follows: preparing and testing the media before learning activities; first explain the activities to be carried out together with rules to follow activities; Creating an atmosphere where learning so that children feel happy; turn on the TV and DVD; invites children to see and pay attention to see; invite children to say the word together; assigning children one by one to repeat and imitate the words in audio-visual form of animated.Keywords: English Vocabulary, Media Audio Visual, Early Childhoo

    The Effects of Reading Habit and Vocabulary Mastery towards Students’ Listening Skill at State Senior High Schools in East Jakarta

    This research was aimed to get empirical data and analyze the effects of reading habit and vocabulary mastery towards student’s speaking skill at private vocational schools in East Jakarta. This research used data analysis technique, those were descriptive statistic, requirement analysis, normality test, linearity test, and test of hypothesis (analysis of inferential). The research was held at State Senior High Schools in East Jakarta. Data collection was done by giving a test for reading habit, vocabulary mastery and listening skill to tenth-grade students at SMA 105 Ciracas and SMA 98 Cijantung. Due to the result, it can be inferred that there is an effect of reading habit towards student’s speaking skill

    THE INFLUENCE OF LINGUISTIC TOWARD ENGLISH ACHIEVEMENT AT SMA TUGU IBU, DEPOK

    The aim of this research is to know the influence of linguistic intelligence towards English achievement at SMA Tugu Ibu in Depok. The data for linguistic intelligence is taken from worksheet though test. Meanwhile the data for English achievement is taken from the score of English in students’ academic record which is familiar called rapor. To analyze the data, the researcher uses SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solution) version 17. Based on the result of the data analysis, it is known that coefficient correlation (r) = 0,766 and determination coefficient is 58,7%. It means that there are significant and strong influence of linguistic intelligence towards English achievement. It means that there are significant and strong influence of linguistic intelligence towards English achievement. English is influenced by linguistic intelligence for 58,7%. Meanwhile, the rest 41,3% is influenced by other factors. Futhermore, the test of hypotheses through regression analysis make the result for regression equality Y = 55,48 + 1,747 X. the result for regression equality significant test is got the score of Sig = 0,000 and tobserved = 6,307 so Sig score < 0,05 And tobserved > ttable so Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted. It means that regression coefficient is significant. The conclusion is there are strong and significant influence of linguistic intelligence towards English achievement at SMA Tugu Ibu in Depok, West Java.Keywords : Linguistic Intelligence and English Achievement

    Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan di SMP Darul Kirom yang beralamat Jalan Raden Sangiang Senopati Jatiraden Jati Sampurna Kota Bekasi Jawa Barat dan SMP Arsya?da di jalan Pahlawan Gg. Masjid Karang Asem Timur Citeureup Bogor 16810. Hal ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengarahan dan simulasi untuk mensosialisasikan gerakan literasi pada kedua sekolah ini, sehingga terbentuk kebudayaan dan kebiasaan gemar membaca, tidak hanya disekolah namun di lingkungan rumah baik sang murid maupun para guru. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini berupa pelatihan dan pendampingan yaitu berupa Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran, Pembiasaan, Pengelolaan Sarana dan Prasarana di kedua sekolah ini.     Tujuan pengabdian  masyarakat ini adalah untuk memberikan pengajaran bahasa Inggris kepada para guru dengan menggunakan strategi pembelajaran tematik di yayasan pendidikan dan sosial Daarul Kirom Jl. Sanghiang Senopati  Ahmad Kelurahan Jatiraden, Kecamatan Jatisampurna Kota Bekasi tahun 2015-2016. Metode penyuluhan kali ini menerapkan strategi pembelajaran tematik. Hasil pengabdian masyarakat menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran tematik dapat meningkatkan profesionalitas guru dan hasil belajar bahasa Inggris siswa. Adapun langkah-langkah penerapan strategi pembelajaran tematik sebagai berikut: Pada tahap pertama penyuluh mulai menerapkan model pembelajaran tematik dengan tema ”kehidupan sehari-hari” dan menggunakan variasi metode, seperti simulasi, tanya jawab, penugasan dan games. Pada tahap selanjutnya dilanjutkan dengan tema ”lingkungan” dengan pemberian reward untuk meningkatkan motivasi guru dalam melakukan aktivitas peningkatan kemampuan mengajar. Proses pembelajaran dan aktifitas mengajar guru diamati oleh penyuluh dan kepala sekolah menggunakan lembar observasi. Di akhir tahapan dilaksanakan tes untuk mengetahui tingkat pemahaman para guru terhadap materi yang telah disampaikan oleh penyuluh.

    Youth is a pioneer for the progress of Indonesian because youth is the next generation that should have a broad range of knowledge and skills together with firm principle. Young people have to be built and directed so that his role can be beneficial. Similarly, with the youth in the region of RT. 02 and 03 Cibeureum Village, the majority of the young people are very religious because 85% of youth that is living in this region are mostly pesantren alumni. However, the youth only has the ability and knowledge for themselves and not to society. In this village, young people join the Karang Taruna activity and Ikatan Remaja Masjid (IRMACH), but they are more active in religious activities so that this management organization is a need to be developed and nurtured to make the young people in this region became more active and creative in other aspects. For that reason, we carry out counseling to youth in the RT.02 and 03 so that they can perform the function and role as a part of the society to build community life with creativity. This activity was attended by 25 young people from the two regions RT. 02 and 03 Cibeureum Village, Cisarua District
