Photon Pair Source based on PPLN-Waveguides for Entangled Two-Photon Absorption

Fluorescence excitation by absorption of entangled photon pairs can reduce disadvantages of classical imaging techniques, like higher signal levels at low excitation power with simultaneous reduction of phototoxicity. However, current entangled photon pair sources are unreliable for fluorescence detection. To overcome this issue, ultra bright entangled photon pair source are desirable to based on nonlinear waveguides are promising candidates to enable fluorescence excitation by entangled photons. In this paper, a source consisting of a periodically poled lithium niobate waveguide was developed and its key characteristics analysed. To demonstrate its suitability as key component for imaging experiments, the entangled two-photon absorption behavior of CdSe/ZnS quantum dot solutions was experimentally investigated.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figure

    Flavour Enhanced Food Recommendation

We propose a mechanism to use the features of flavour to enhance the quality of food recommendations. An empirical method to determine the flavour of food is incorporated into a recommendation engine based on major gustatory nerves. Such a system has advantages of suggesting food items that the user is more likely to enjoy based upon matching with their flavour profile through use of the taste biological domain knowledge. This preliminary intends to spark more robust mechanisms by which flavour of food is taken into consideration as a major feature set into food recommendation systems. Our long term vision is to integrate this with health factors to recommend healthy and tasty food to users to enhance quality of life.Comment: In Proceedings of 5th International Workshop on Multimedia Assisted Dietary Management, Nice, France, October 21, 2019, MADiMa 2019, 6 page

A Prospective Study To Evaluate Medical Management Vs Surgical Intervention In Pain Relief And Healing Of Anal Fissure

Introduction: Anal fissure is a commonly encountered problem for surgeons. It is a longitudinal tear in distal anal canal with or without an ulcer. It causes significant changes in quality of life. This study was done to compare the efficacy of medical management and surgical intervention in cases of anal fissures. Methods: 50 patients were divided into two groups of 25 each. Group A patients were treated with topical application of 2% diltiazem gel and Group B patients were treated with Lateral sphincterotomy. Both groups were examined weekly for 4 weeks for pain using VAS score and at 12 weeks for healing. Results: 21(84%) patients were pain free after 4 weeks under Group A, 24 (96%) patients were pain free after 4 weeks under Group B. 22(88%) patients were completely healed at 12 weeks under Group A, 25(100%) patients were completely healed at 12 weeks under Group B. Conclusion: Lateral sphincterotomy can be advocated as treatment of choice for anal fissures. It has better pain relief and healing rates compared to topical application of 2% diltiazem gel. Medical Management can be used in patients refusing surgery or unfit for surger

Skyline: Interactive In-Editor Computational Performance Profiling for Deep Neural Network Training

Training a state-of-the-art deep neural network (DNN) is a computationally-expensive and time-consuming process, which incentivizes deep learning developers to debug their DNNs for computational performance. However, effectively performing this debugging requires intimate knowledge about the underlying software and hardware systems---something that the typical deep learning developer may not have. To help bridge this gap, we present Skyline: a new interactive tool for DNN training that supports in-editor computational performance profiling, visualization, and debugging. Skyline's key contribution is that it leverages special computational properties of DNN training to provide (i) interactive performance predictions and visualizations, and (ii) directly manipulatable visualizations that, when dragged, mutate the batch size in the code. As an in-editor tool, Skyline allows users to leverage these diagnostic features to debug the performance of their DNNs during development. An exploratory qualitative user study of Skyline produced promising results; all the participants found Skyline to be useful and easy to use.Comment: 14 pages, 5 figures. This paper describe development and financial performance of cooperative in District Pelalawan among 2007 - 2008. Studies on primary and secondary cooperative in 12 sub-districts. Method in this stady use performance measuring of productivity, efficiency, growth, liquidity, and solvability of cooperative. Productivity of cooperative in Pelalawan was highly but efficiency still low. Profit and income were highly, even liquidity of cooperative very high, and solvability was good
