    The title compound, C20H16N2O2, was synthesized by the reaction of 2-hydroxy­benzohydrazide with diphenyl­methanone. The dihedral angle between the phenyl rings is 76.28 (11)°. The amino H atom is involved in an intra­molecular N—H⋯O hydrogen bond. In the crystal structure, the hydr­oxy groups and carbonyl O atoms form inter­molecular O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, which link the mol­ecules into chains running along the b axis

    Treatment for Condyloma Acuminatum with Graves’ disease

    SAS Publisher's journals are open access journals.A rare case of external genital condylomata acuminatum with Graves’ disease was reported. The cauliflower warts were observed on glans penis and foreskin of a 40-year-old man, who had typical Graves’ symptoms. After combining treatment of laser, intramuscular injection interferon, and orally administered Acyclovir or Tamciclovir tablets, Amoxicilline capsules or phenoxy mephyl penicillin potassium tablets, vitamin C and vitamin B1 of multiple courses (weeks), the condylomata acuminatum recurred, the warts grew again, and Graves’ disease worsened. However, after integrated treatment of laser, orally administered transfer factor, antibiotics and vitamins of three courses, the patient recovered fully and Graves’ symptoms alleviated. The venereal warts have not recurred within six months

    In the title compound, C13H9ClN4O4, there are two crystallographically independent mol­ecules in the asymmetric unit, which have very similar conformations. The C=N—N angles in each independent mol­ecule are 115.0 (2) and 116.6 (2)°, which are significantly smaller than the ideal value of 120° expected for sp 2-hybridized N atoms. This is probably a consequence of repulsion between the nitro­gen lone pairs and the adjacent N—N bonds. Two bifurcated intra­molecular N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds help to establish the mol­ecular conformation and consolidate the crystal packing

    Radiative Neutrino Mass in Type III Seesaw Model

    The simplest type III seesaw model as originally proposed introduces one lepton triplet. It thus contains four active neutrinos, two massive and two massless at tree level. We determine the radiative masses that the latter receive first at two loops. The masses are generally so tiny that they are definitely excluded by the oscillation data, if the heavy leptons are not very heavy, say, within the reach of LHC. To accommodate the data on masses, the seesaw scale must be as large as the scale of grand unification.     Therapeutic benefit of aripiprazole-olanzapine combination in the treatment of senile Alzheimer’s disease complicated by mental disorders

    Purpose: To determine the clinical efficacy of aripiprazole-olanzapine combination treatment in elderly Alzheimer’s disease complicated with mental disorders. Methods: Ninety-two elderly patients with Alzheimer’s disease and mental disorders who were admitted to Binzhou People's Hospital, were enrolled in the study. They were randomized into control and study groups. Control group was treated with olanzapine, while the study group was treated with aripiprazole as an adjuvant therapy in addition to olanzapine. The clinical efficacy, scores on different scales (MMSE, ADAS-cog, CDR, ADL, NPI and CMAI), and incidence of adverse reactions were determined. Results: The overall degree of response was significantly higher in the study group than in the control group (p < 0.05). There were no significant differences in MMSE, ADAS-cog, CDR, ADL, NPI and CMAI scores between the two groups before treatment (p > 0.05). The MMSE score of the study group was significantly higher than that of the control group, and the scores in the other scales in the study group were significantly lower after treatment (p < 0.05). The study group had significantly lower incidence of adverse reactions than control group (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Aripiprazole-olanzapine combination has significant therapeutic benefit in the treatment of elderly Alzheimer’s disease patients complicated with mental disorders.     Toxicological evaluation of precocene II isolated from Ageratum conyzoides L. (Asteraceae) in Sprague Dawley rats

    Precocene II (6,7-dimethoxy-2,2-dimethyl-2-chromene) was the main constituent isolated from Ageratum conyzoides L. and reportedly possessed antifungal activity. The study investigated the isolation, purification and toxicological effects of precocene II from A. conyzoides in Sprague Dawley rats. Precocene II was isolated from the petroleum ether fraction of the plant and the structure was determined by 1H-,13C-,DEPT-NMR and MS spectral techniques. Three groups of eight rats per group were used for the study. While groups B and C were respectively administered with 25 and 50 mg/kg of precocene II in 0.25% CMC-Na for 11 days by gastric intubation, group A was administered with 0.25% CMC-Na and served as the control group. After the last treatment, animals were fasted overnight and on the 12th day, they were injected intravenously with 0.2 ml/kg body weight of phenobarbital. Animals were subsequently dissected from the abdominal region; blood was collected from the pulmonary vein into EDTA anti-coagulated and non anti-coagulated tubes. The liver, kidney and spleen tissues were extracted into separate bottles for histopathological examinations. Results from hematological study indicated that the white blood cell (WBC), red blood cell (RBC), plateletcrit (PCT) and mean corpuscular hemoglobin count (MCHC) were significantly higher across the treated groups. Biochemical result showed that serum glucose level was significantly reduced in the treated groups. No apparent damage was noticed in the liver, kidney and spleen tissues. The result therefore suggests that precocene II possesses hypoglycemic property and could alter some hematopoietic elements but was not toxic to the liver, kidney and spleen tissues
